Jimmy's Sneakers

Oops, looks like Timmy already answered Jimmy's question about Hart.

Jimmy will be surprised if the Mavs/Nets don't find a way to work out the trade, unless the real reason for its failure is sellers remorse on the Mavs part. To make the salaries work, they could always just include Keith Van Horn in a sign and trade, to make up the difference in DGeorge, and although Cuban said he doesn't want to spend the extra money, he may be beyond the point of no return. How many of his guys would want to stick around and play for him after already trying to be dealt.

Jimmy hopes it goes through, because although it makes the West harder this season, it makes Dallas much older. Phoenix has already gotten older, and the Spurs, with the exception of TonyP, are getting older on their own. This means that in a year or two the Jazz, along with the Lakers, will have an easier run through the west. Of course there will be young upstarts like the Blazers, but the Jazz will be the team with the experience once again.

The Jazz are playing as a team again and it's showing. The Jazz has confidant players coming off the bench that is a key to winning. Brewer after missing two games was sorely missed, you didn't realize it until he came back and noticed what he brings to the team. I believe the most valuable person that the Jazz has is CJ Miles. When AK47 was hurt CJ filled in and did well and when Brewer was out again CJ filled in and did a good job. I believe this team can go far this year in the playoffs and in the upcoming future, I wouldn't trade anyone, at least for this year. I still believe the Jazz needs a big man in the middle, which will be Fess. The Jazz are going in the right path.
Go Jazz!

Jazzman

The only thing the Jazz really need right now is an enforcer at the center position. If Chicago is so desperate to dump Wallace, perhaps the Jazz could package Collins, Hart, and a draft pick or two. I certainly wouldn't trade AK for Wallace, that would be a huge mistake for Utah. Wallace is on the decline, but all he would basically have to do is rebound and defend the paint area, something I'm sure he's still quite capable of doing.

Misses # 12

No GMs would trade any regular for Hart and Collins plus a draft pick. I guess he would if he wanted to get fired. If John Paxon traded Ben Wallace for Hart/Collins/draft pick they would change his office locks before the next morning.

Did the Lakers, Suns or Maveriks need to make a deal to compete for the ring? No. Do the Jazz? No. But have they placed themselves in better position to win it all, I believe so. Risk vs. reward, will the Jazz be willing to take the chance that would put them over the top, as an elite club going into the play-offs. I do not mean mortgage the farm, but if a player and a draft pick are needed to bring in an difference maker, preferably in the post, I think it's time to take that leap. Not during the off-season, and no Korver was a great pick-up, but he is not the difference maker. Haywood, Wallace, Randolph, O'Neal, Kaman, Collison, Diop could all be that player down the stretch ranging in price from Brewer/Miles to AK and a pick. Time to get it done.

Misses #12

Actually to make the trade for Wallace work under the salary cap the jazz would have to include AK or a combo of Okur and Harpring. Chicago made a big mistake signing Wallace.

Barney and Friends

I would have liked the AK47 for Ben Wallace trade if it were made 2 years ago. Currently I don't understand it.
I have always really liked Ben Wallace but he is on the downside of his career while AK47 is on the upside. I don't think Big Ben can produce anymore for even the Bulls. O'Conner is thinking ahead. Jazz will dominate the NBA after the next couple years. They are young and will only get better. Phoenix and Dallas are getting old and thinking now before it is too late. I hate the Lakers and wish them the worst. Mitch Kupchack is the Isiah Thomas of the west. This is really the only good thing he has done for the Lakers. Gasol is an injury waiting to happen though.
Lakers might not be so lucky.
GO JAZZ!

THE UPSTART

Deron should be a stand up comedian. "We stacked up. We got Kyle Korver." Compared with the worst of the players mentioned as upgrades for the other teams, Kyle couldn't carry their jock strap. Sad thing is that I'm just as excited as Williams that he's here. Good luck Jazz. I love you guys, but I really found that comment funny as all get out.

What is up with this kick to get Wallace to the Jazz? The Jazz always play better with team chemistry and bringing him into the mix would totally mess that up. Why don't we bring Fess up from the D-League, to get him some experience come playoff time?

When can we stop talking about the need to make a trade and enjoy the team we have! The best teams are almost always the one's with continuity. The Spurs of this decade, the Bulls of last ... they might have tinkered here and there, but it was stability and cohesiveness that won championships. Hart & Collins aren't the best (although Collins is, IMO, a solid role player ... he does what he needs to and doesn't complain), but no one is going to give us something for nothing. People complain about Memo, but a year ago he was representing us in the All-Star game. Let him play his game. Let AK play his game. People are even calling for us to trade Booze?!!! Let this team play together for three years ... the championship will come while everyone around us tries to accommodate.

Were gonna have to get rid of AK because if we dont we are gonna loose some players. I know millsap can get a heck of alot more than $750,000playing ofr another team, and if Deron doesnt get a max contract he's gone, Boozer will be gone also. AK's inconsistencies are not worth the money. if he can't get a double double on a weekly basis like boozer can then he's expendable. There are better defenders out there than him that are paid alot less.

Re: Misses #12

Giving Okur or Harpring along with AK would be way too much for wallace let alone trade AK for him straight up.

Reply to Misses #12

You say the Bulls wouldn't take a back up point guard, an under-used center and some picks for Wallace.
Didn't Memphis just do that in giving away Gasol?

Moto X

Actually, Korver has been the difference maker, but probably not in the way most would think a player might be. He does not "take over" games (usually) but when he is on the floor he spreads the opponents defense and THAT makes all our other players better because the opposition can not leave him unguarded. If teams double team anyone then they are toast because our balanced scoring attack will usually make them pay.

If there is a big man role player that becomes available then we should get him but we should not trade any big pieces because chemistry is good right now. Chemistry is worth as much or more than big name players.

Shaq will likely not work in Phoenix and Dallas is brain dead if they think trading all those players for a old slow point guard will get them over the top. The Laker trade for Gasol is likely to work for the better and makes them top contenders.

All that said it would be hard to beat the results we have gotten since the time we acquired Korver--whether it is all him or not. Our trade may turn out to be the best of all.

Should have done it.

The Jazz should have hopped on the opportunity to trade Ak for Marion.

Deron Williams
Kyle Korver
Shawn Marion
Carlos Boozer
Mehmet Okur

I'm really dissapointed that Larry Miller didn't pull the trigger. With that line-up, I think the Jazz would have been one of the favorites to win it all THIS year.

It hurts to think about what could have been.

Bogut FAN

The Jazz are a big man that can defend and rebound away from being a legit contender in the West. I would love to see the Jazz trade for Andrew Bogut. Bogut hasn't really flourished in Milwaukee and they need to shake things up as their current roster isn't getting it done. What about Kirilenko for Bogut and an expiring contract to make up the difference. Kirilenko just might return to all star form in Milwaukee if he gets his wish to be traded and Bogut would give the Jazz someone to defend Yao, Shaq, Bynum/Gasol, Duncan, and Stoudamire in the West. Git er done!!!!

Oh well, we can always dream right?

Jazzsmack

Looks like the person imitating me finally got over it and is done. Collins for Wallace? Keep dreaming Jazz fans, however I think Andrei Kirilenko and Ronnie Brewer plus a first round pick for Zack Randolph would make a lot of sense. There would be a two headed beast down low and you now New York would do it. But Slown wood never do that. Do't wurry no dills will be made.

Jimmy's for Jordans

I think we ought to trade Jimmy's sneakers for a pair of Jordans. We can win championships and not have to hear all that annoying 3rd person talk.

RE: Jazzsmack

You'd give up the 2 best defensive players on the team for the black hole of basketball? The jazz need MORE defense.
