Yawn! Could "Billary's" hopes be fading? Certainly seems that her campaign is faltering on several fronts.

Its time for a new kind of politics - not Reds states against the Blues states, Republicans against the Democrats. We need leadership who will represent all people, not just the 49 -48% who got them elected. We all have more in common than what divide us - lets work together to make our country great again.

Re: OBAMA 08 | 4:12 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
I think that is a little over the top. Regardless, I'm one Republican that thinks that Barack is the man!!! Finally, a leader who will unite the country rather than such divisive people like John McCain and Hillary. With Mitt gone there is no other choice.

I worry about the government, because in the scriptures it says the government will fall from within.I sent a piece mail to the FBI that i recieved talking about Obama's days in al-Qaida training camp.I wish Romey Hadn't dropped out. I went to the primary to vote for him only to find out that in CT you can't vote if your an independent. I am replused by the bad rap that Huckabee has about the Church. The PBS channel has been showing negative people taiking against Church. I have been a member 23 yrs since joining my health has improve from following the word of wisdom.I use to take 11 pills in the am,now only take 4.
Hopeful | 5:48 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Yes, Vote Obama in 08 so Reps. will win back the White House in 2012. There are only Demos running on either side right now anyway. Obama will make us weak against terrorism, weak on the economy, weak within the family, weak at our boarders, big on taxes, and big on government. Vote Obama! Reagan conservatives will dominate in 2012!!
TexMex | 6:08 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
I am studying Obama. I like what I hear & see. I am a white, lower middle class male. (Now that is a true minority.) I want an improved economy. I want safer boarders from terrorists who just walk in with a pair of fingernail cutters and high-jack a plane. I want a real Washington watchdog over Social Security and other benefits for the senior citizens. I would vote for Obama if the election were held today. He has little real competition.
russ | 6:06 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
It is official now: Repubs have finally discovered that Obama is coming like that fast-speeding freight train and that he might pass up Hillary. McCain attacked him indirectly yesterday.

Well, more and more the stars are getting into alignment. McCain is trying to act more presidential by attacking. Yeah, that makes sense. No more positiveness from John, we have officially entered the attack period.

Obama, he is just speaking on. It is somewhat incredible how well he uses words. But of course Bush set the bar somewhat low (yeah right!) and so anyone who can put two sentences together without an "uh" looks like Socrates.

Poor Hillary. It might not be her year after all.
shadow | 6:09 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Speech classes listen up: do you hear that rhythm in his speeches? That lyricalness? Oh... the man must have hear King speak. It is so easy on the ears. And, based on the crowds, etc., the people of AMerican like it. McCain speaks well, but only when he is looking at the script.

Obama is the new King.

Re: OBAMA 08! | 6:25 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Think, please. The liberals have never done anything for the poor or middle class. I am a conservative, but that does not mean I believe in McCain and Huckabee. I would much rather have Obama in the White House than Hillbilly Clinton (and maybe John McCain).
Give me proof that the Democrats will actually do what you claim they can. (Give me an actaul time when a government program, tax hike, etc. actually worked, not an Obama or Hillbilly campaign promise!)
Alex in Kansas | 6:29 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
I'm a long time republican seriously considering changing sides. Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't vote for Obama instead of McCain? On issues such as abortion and conventional marriage they are both to my left, but Obama may even be more moderate than McCain. The only major issue that distinguishes McCain is the war in Iraq. And I'm afraid he'll make a bigger mess of things by attacking Iran. I think it's time to give Obama a try. He seems to have those redeeming qualities that will unify this countries politics. Check out his website, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
We need Change we can trust | 6:45 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Obama is the only one I trust to get us out of Iraq. The republicans talk show types say this would be cut and run, well so be it. Even Regan was smart enough to "cut and run" out of Lebanon when he saw it wasn't in our interest to stay there.

Iraq has had long enough to get its house in order. We don't owe it to them anymore. There were no weapons of mass destruction, we should have never been there in the first place.

Tens of thousands of our citizens are injured for life and thousands are dead, for what? Our national treasury is going up in smoke. We could be using this money instead to shore up Social Security, instead of getting to retirement age and then being told that benefits will be cut, this because we entered into a stupid war.
St. George | 6:57 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
To bad for the Democrats, because this Republican would vote for Hillary, but not Obama
Is our country?? | 7:10 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Are we really going to see an election between Obama and McCain? That has to be some of the saddest news EVER for our country. Neither man will say much of anything about what they will do or what they believe in. McCain wants to make every thing about the troop surge he supported and Obama wants to say everything in a loud booming voice and talk about change, yet he has never done anything.
OSAMA 09 | 7:23 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Obama is too naive. Many are excited about him because he's not in the same party as Bush and he doesn't generate the huge negative feelings that Hillary does. His only message is "a vote for me is a change from Bush and Hillary", but we don't really know what it's a change to, and he's clever enough not to tell us. If you're slowly being poisoned by low dose radiation, you want a change, but you should know whether the change is to high doses of cyanide, a placebo, or to an antidote. I think the best we'd get from Obama would be a placebo, but I think he'd be more akin to the cyanide.
The Real Obama | 7:40 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
OK..we all know he is for "Change." Here are some of his ideas...Government run health care...Fact is this, whenever you give something to the government, they take a piece of liberty along with it. I'm not ready to give government anymore, and nobody "gives" anybody anything. What government "gives" it takes. His PRO ABORTION position is beyond the pale to the point of killing the innocent and defenseless.

While he might sound like a preacher, the words he spews amount to the devil in disguise.

Republican for OBAMA | 7:43 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
McCain is old, angry, and very temperamental to anyone he runs into (as long as cameras are not running). He would simply extend the Bush policies and continue to create a terrible foreign policy -- destroying what good will we still have with other countries.

OBAMA is a bit of a wild card - well spoken, well educated, great foreign experience, etc. The fear is that he will create more burdens on the middle class and suffocate small business. However, Clinton and McCain don't offer any relief . . . so I think OBAMA is the right person to try and get us going in the right direction again.

He is Presidential with the ability to inspire people. Clinton and McCain don't offer anything even close.

Too bad OBAMA won't consider choosing ROMNEY as VP.

I'm one Republican very angry with the Republican ways of the last 7 years - of course, Congress hasn't gotten better with Pelosi . . . hopefully, we can have OBAMA as President and get the Republicans back in Congress - having learned their lesson to serve the people.

Is it possible for them to serve the people, and not just themselves?
Gretzky | 7:39 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Obama is sweeping the dems' primaries and caucases so that Hilbill does not get re-elected. many independents and even repubs are crossing over to ensure HilBilliary does not win the dems' nomination. McAint is not much better in some areas but he is better for the USA than the dems' ideas. Retreat and defeat in Iraq is not the appropriate course as advocated by Obama and Hilbillary.
In either case 2012 comes awfully fast and Romney is the next Reagan to bring our country together.
The poor and middle class need to learn hard work, self mastery and self reliance rather than government reliance and "working for welfare."
RR | 7:50 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Don't believe anyone who says, "We want to see change in America!" That change could be a change for the worst, especially considering revelations about our country in these last days, and the world seems to be getting worse by the day. If Obama wants change, I'd rather see him try than back-stabber McCain. I moved to Democrat haven Minnesota a year ago as a Republican, and after learning about Democrats I've realized I'm now independent. Each party has good and bad but it's the character of the person that makes one noble. No candidate is perfect in anyone's eyes, but I'll NEVER vote for a low-character man such as McCain, and all that I know about Obama is much more desireable than Clinton in. Clearly, the nation is realizing she is not all she's cracked up to be. I was glad to see Minnesota doesn't like her.
re: We need Change we can trust | 7:53 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Talk to the millions of Iraqis who are now free from tyranny and a horrible horrible horrible horrible leader, and the troops who are watching that country and people do a 360. While serving a mission in Sweden, I talked to dozens of refugee Iraqis who left because of Saddam and how everyday they feared he would kill them and their families. I too mourn for all the dead, but if no country takes a stand against evil men, they will take over the world and it will be a Lord of the Rings era. If Bush hadn't attacked, many other cities would have been blown up by now. Men with evil hearts don't care about anyone but themselves and their power...read up on your history.
Alex | 7:56 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Wow, eight victories in a row. Let's make it nine; Obama really did win more delegates on Super Tuesday, so he won that day, too.
That said, good for him. I'm excited. I don't want to jump the gun, but this string of wins could be the beginning of the end for Hillary, and I seriously doubt she'll do much other than mess things up. I hope Obama wins the nomination.

Sheila, I don't think you need to worry about Obama's "days in an al-Qaida training camp." It's fiction.
Disgusted | 8:35 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Enough of this debate fiasco. The only people that benefit from that are the rotten media. Here is where some cuts need to take place. Get rid of more than half of these broadcast outlets and a like number of our nations, problems would be solved. Please no more debates until convention time at least, what more can be said and why waste the money and time. All of this campaigning should be restricted to the year of the national election. Look at the total waste of money that benefits only the media, by having this dragged out for almost 2 years. Ridiculous, Ridiculuos.

Obama is just articulate talking head on top of an empty suit. What has this guy accomplished that proves he has the capability of leading this country? His supporters were asked that very question on national television and none could come up with anything other than he was a black man that was elected to be a Senator! Now that really gives him the edge - sure!

I would love to be a bug on the wall inside Nurse Ratchet's...errr...Hillary's campaign headquarters. She was annointed to be the democratic candidate and how dare some unknown jr. senator from the midwest prevent her ordination. I read that she is firing campaign people left and right, in fact Letterman is making jokes about the situation. Letterman's and Leno's writers strive to keep pace with popular culture. When they start lampooning Hillary's campaign are they just reflecting where the popular culture currently sits? While Obama is not necessarily an outsider to politics (he is receiving big money from a lot of liberal and Hollywood elitists) it is refreshing to see the big democratic party machine getting humiliated. After the Republicans get whacked this November they better come up with their own "Obama" in 2012.
The Truth... | 9:14 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
of the matter is, I don't like anyone left in this race. My vote goes for Obama though, because I'd rather have a Democrat in the White House so that our Congress stands half a chance. If we have McCain in the White House with a Democratic Congress, this country will go down in flames. Also, I don't think this country is headed for good times and I'd rather see a Democrat taking the blame so we stand a chance to fix things in 2012.
Joe Moe | 9:37 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
@Alex. You asked for a reason not to vote for Obama, although you've been for the GOP. Namely, Obama wants to grow more programs at a faster rate. McCain is about reigning in spending and having sound financial systems (starting with his decade-long fight against earmarks and pork-barrel politics). McCain is not a johnny-come-lately (pardon the pun) to the fiscal conservatism battle.
To Obamacans | 9:40 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
To Republicans that want to vote for Obama to teach the Republican party a lesson to nominate a more conservative candidate, consider this. Your reasoning is based on the premise that after 4 years of Democratic ineptness, the conservatives can come in and clean up the mess.

However, there is at least one very big mess that conservatives will be unable to clean up after the damage has been done. In the case of appointment of supreme court justices, Obama will likely appoint leftist judges, who, for example, will likely strike down state constitutional provisions defining marriage. This will make homosexual marriages legal throughout the country and will vastly change the social landscape of our country.

Once a supreme court justice is appointed, he is appointed for life, so the conservatives can do nothing about this once the appointment is made. There is at least one and possibly 3 justices that will be appointed during the next four years. Please see the damage that can be done by voting to "send a message."

Obama is a Pro Choice Liberal of the worst Ilk. He is also not Black he is a person of Color. His mother is white and he was raised by white grandparents, went to a largely white/asian private school (A real good one). He was raised in the safety and security of the melting pot and by his own admission missed most of the Civil Rights Stuff. We just do not do that stuff here. We do Network not a thing wrong with that. Everyone goes to Private School here that can afford it and get in. Public Education here prepares people for Services jobs at best. We decided instead of private school to make the public school accountable and we have. Both our kids are Seniors and the nightmare for the School Board will soon be over. I did get good results for the most part, not bringing on new stuff, just making them comply with their own rules. My wife did most of the hard work. I understand that Abortion is the not the only issue but it is to the Unborn Child being Murdered. That makes him unacceptable. Then we can get into the other reasons.

Supreme court | 11:17 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
I'm reading Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope" and in it he talks about the need for moderates in the supreme court. So maybe conservatives don't need to worry so much about the supreme court. Moderation is definitely good for both sides of the political spectrum. He also writes about the constitution and has a firm grasp of its importance. We need a country that is less polarized and I believe Obama can accomplish that much easier than Hillary or McCain can.
Re: To Obamacans | 11:19 a.m. Feb. 13, 2008
I agree- I don't like anyone left in the race but McCain is still the lesser of two evils- OBAMA IS PRO-ABORTION! Wait until abortion is widespread and then ask all the Obamacans how pround they are that they put their vote behind him.

In Reality the Poor and the Middleclass have never had it better. Yes the Repubs won and then acted like a bunch of Victims. The Liberals can't get over 2000, not so much 2004 but the Al Gore thing. I am not sure that wasen't a fix but I am thankful everytday it happened. What we diden't do is over turn Roe v Wade and pass Federal Laws protecting the Unborn from Murder. I live in a State that the General Population block votes Dem. Some are so proud that Hawaii (3 Votes) went to Kerry. Note George Bush is President. The Hawaii Gov is Repub, White, Female, and Jewish. Most of us Voted for her Twice. More of a Centerist then anything. She works with everyone but is not an Appeser. Obama I fear would not use the Nukes. He would allow Sherrill Law disguised as Culture. Not Protect the Borders, Not restore the Draft etc. The Unborn would remain unprotected. The mental illness of Liberalism would run amuck in our Society that would continue progressively down hill. Plus watch you Churchs Tax exempt status. GOD, would be under massive Liberal and Femanazi attack. Have you years supply ready.

russ | 12:05 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
"The liberals have never done anything for the poor..." I can't believe that someone actually wrote that. And you want proof that the liberals have helped America and Americans? Read a few chapters on FDR and how he helped the poor.

Better yet, let me tell you my story. Dad died unexpectedly, mom took in wash. A brother and sister went before me to some college and then military service. We were close to dirt poor.

But when I was a senior LBJ got elected. The Great Society has some programs and I got my first two years of schooling paid for due to the Great Society. Today? I am professor and I pay lots of taxes -- and I served in Vietnam.

The liberals have a done a lot for this country. I am walking proof of it. Read your history books, turn off the radio radicals, and think about what this country would look like with fed. aid to education, medical research, highways, a strong military, social security, medicare, medicaide, etc.

Read. It frees you from the prejudices.
Wow | 12:12 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
reading the first 30 posts was worse than listening to Hannity and Rush continuously. First of all, anyone who wants to know what Obama's policies are, go to his website. He has major solutions and policies listed for all the problems this country faces. Secondly, to those Right-wingers banking on taking back the White House after Obama makes a "mess" of the country - I hope you realize what the current President has to done to our deficit, our esteem in the world, our environment, and with innocent lives. I have the feeling that Barack is going to reel in that ENORMOUS deficit which is one reason I like him. So, I wouldn't start counting your chickens just yet; in fact, it sounds like you're just trying to find some positive spin now that your boy - Mitt - is gone. By the way, let me tell you how excited I am to hear all this "Mitt will win in 2012" jibber jabber. Isn't that what we've heard the last 2 years about this election? What happened to that? How'd that work out? GO OBAMA!!!!
shadow | 12:12 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
What a choice this election year. A former POW who has married money. Says he doesn't care if the Iraq war lasts a 100 years. And, says he doesn't understand economics, as we slide into a republic recesssion no less. And then we have the first black American to be taken seriously at the national level, probably due to his law degree and work with slums, etc. Young Americans seem drawn to his promise, like they were to JFK. We also have the first female candidate to be taken seriously, probably cause she is so smart and well trained and experienced.

Choices? Oh, we have choices alright. But first we have to go out in the backyard and bury our biases, prejudices, and hatred. For some, it will hard to do. Very hard to do.

The Shadow Knows.
Huh? | 12:19 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
All the people who say Obama doesn't address any real issues hasn't done their homework. How about doing research before talking about what you don't understand.

Also, to the people on here saying that everytime we give something to the government (healthcare, for example) we give up a piece of our liberty, what about now? Warrantless wiretaps, the FCC telling us what we can and can't watch on tv? Bush is using the Bill of Rights as a door mat.

And all the people who talk about moving to Canada if a Demo (mainly Hillary) wins, they'll be shocked when they find out about their socialized healthcare.
Hello.... | 12:36 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Abortion has been legal since what,1973? The republicans haven't done squat about it. I don't believe in abortion but I can't vote republican on that issue alone.
Anonymous | 12:45 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Just so everyone knows where the civil discourse above originates from: the other day, Rush Limbaugh used the word liberal (aka Democrat) 147 times during the course of his show. And I don't think he meant it as orginally defined: Liberal - open, free, favoring progress and reform, for the people, open-minded, tolerant of views differing from one's own, etc.
He's become a multi-millionaire this way and doing a pretty fair job at drawing lines between our fellow man.
Alex | 12:56 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
It seems I have to write this every day lately, but here's the quote of Barack Obama's from Christianity Today magazine: "I don't know anybody who is pro-abortion."
Go to the Christianity Today website and type "Barack Obama" into the search bar.

Perhaps "Kane" (jerry 1:15) was/is Mitt Romney. Before he threw in the towel Romney was talking about change every other sentence. :>
my two cents | 1:49 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Supreme Court above mentions Obama's book and his supposed desire for moderate supreme court justices. I guess you really need to define moderate. Rush Limbaugh could be described as moderate when compared to some of the right-wing radio nuts, and Bill Maher could be described as moderate when compared with some of the other left-wing hate-spewers, but neither is actually moderate. "Moderate" really depends your own point of view; Obama's is so far left of mine that a conservative to him would still be a liberal to me, so his moderate would be even worse.
JenM | 2:00 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Jerry, you need some serious help.
Puh-lease... | 2:07 p.m. Feb. 13, 2008
Jerry, your 3 sentences alone prove that you are no saint with that kind of talk. I can see how much hatred really exists in your conservative, right-wing, religious-based world. Face it, you are a zealot. It's easy to see that your "weariness of change" is the cause of all your ignorance about how the world really works. And to call Obama a terrorist is beyond reprehensible. The man wants to END a war... have you even been paying attention? Do you know what "terrorist" means? Now try applying that definition to our current president and see if there are any similarities. Hmmmm....

On second thought, keep talking. You do more for Obama than any campaign could. You marginalize the entire right-wing contingent with those crazy proclamations. I love it. You make Utah irrelevant to the rest of the country. Kudos.
