Let Jordan School District and Jordan School Board clean up their own mess. Other school districts have kept their houses in order and now have to pay because of Jordan's mistakes.

Thank you East Side Jordan, It was ok when you had all the growth and the West Side of the Valley was paying for your schools, well now it is someones else turn and you want out. I hope your taxes go up as much as possible.

RJM can we PLEASE put that tired argument to rest. The west side never, NEVER paid anything toward the construction, maintenance, financing, etc of east-side schools. That argument is pure fiction. West side schools have always (at least since the mid-1970's) been subsidized by east-side taxpayers. Its simple math, easily verified by checking Jordan's own growth summit and CAFR filings.

Jordan blew their enrollment and construction estimates in 2002 when the last bond authorization was past (or kept the truth hidden from voters) and now are asking the entire county to help fund their incompetence. Perhaps the whole state should pitch in to feed their greed.

The east-side pushed JSD to issue bonds which put them on the hook to repay nearly $100 million plus interest that will be spent entirely on the west side. This so-called equalization bill (by someone not remotely associated with the JSD split) is just a blatant attempt to wring the last possible dollar from the east-side and let JSD off the hook. Classic government bailout, and hardly the example of fiscal conservatism the Republicans such as Sen. Stephenson would have us believe it is.

This bill is not an "IQ" test as Sen Stephenson states. It simply does not pass the wiff test. It basically punishes Salt lake County residents simply because they live in the county. This was a bill put forth by a Davis County Senator where his constituants stand to gain 4 million dollars. Most everyone who voted yea is either west side senators or out of county senators. This is a shameless money grab! This should be a state wide sharing. This is a joke. Salt lake county residents who live in Granite, Salt Lake and Murray school districts should contact their house rep immediately. Maybe they have some sense. Senators like Stephenson who is not representing his district should be punished at the voting booth.
