Boy, these kids really can cut a rug. I haven't seen dancing like that since "The Twist" came out. It's great they can lose weight and feel grrrrreat!
It's amazing that technology can be so much fun and also good FOR you! I'll take a dozen!
Sounds like a great way to exersize! I think they should enlist this technology for home users so adults can do it too. Its not the start for videos that use dance routines to help us loose weight but this one can be much more engaging and doesn't work out for you while you just sit on the couch and watch it (or watch her: that beautiful "buns of steel" lady doing the routine)!
I got addicted to DDR during my second year of school at the U. Now I live on the fourth floor of an apartment building and don't play out of respect for my downstairs neighbors. So sad.
I thought my son was crazy when he spent so much money on a Wii video game system. But I've seen personally how much he and his family use it, and the exercise they get, as opposed to any other system they've ever had.
They love playing the games, and they are definitely 'off the couch'!
Or we could just not buy our kids video games and tvs and computers... That would cut down on the problem...
DDR is awesome! It inspires the HABIT of fitness, burning calories, and increasing metabolism. I suspect it will have a long term effect on mitigating the development of preventable diseases.
Many Kudos for implimenting this program. I suspect Wii will release ankle sensors for games like soccer, football, and more Dance hits, even ballroom.
I think it's hilarious how many parents act like their kids' computers, phones, video games, etc., just seemed to fall from the sky. I hear so many parents complaining about how their kids don't get out of the house and play with their electronics all day. Who is the parent and who is the child?? If you don't want your kids frying their brains on stupid video games, don't give it to them!!
I home school my special needs grandson at home and think that this would be a big help for him - especially in this really cold weather. I am not up to the games etc.... and wonder if someone could give me a price range on this equipment and if it is visible for home use and do you think that it will get cheaper with time?.... thanks
Video games are not he devil! Come on!
You can't get healthy food at the store in this country anymore. Our meat is injected with steroids or and is cloned. Our minerals in our produce are depleted. Our food source is the worst. I lived outside of the country and lost 15-20 lbs in a few weeks and felt perfectly healthy. I gained it all back in a couple of weeks after returning to the US and eating like an American again and felt rotten. Our food source is poison. And I played Nintendo all the time when I was a child and was a stick.
FINALY! adults are leaving the dark side!
hurrrra for video games! hey mabye people will find a way to make MP3's cell phones etc. good for you.
Exercise wherever and however you can get it is a plus. There is one downside to DDR and Wii, however: no sunshine. Sunshine is a deterent to and can even heal depression, and is the easiest way to get real vitamin D. Even with physical activity available in video game form, 15-20 minutes of sunshine is a must, especially when in the winter months you can only get it every few days. After a round of Wii, get yourself outside and get that fabulous sunshine!
I read this article yesterday and while I am glad that teachers are trying to provide enjoyable exercise for children, I have one concern about this. I have twice seen DDR and was disturbed by the visuals - the way the animated figures on the screen are dressed and move in in appropriate ways. While some adults may ignore this aspect to the game, I feel that the visuals are in no way appropriate to place in front of children at school. Please make sure children are surrounded by good and clean things.
Ema, I wish I had more neighbors like you...
