The Feulner's have been ripping off Utahns for years.

As long as Blair gets paid, everyone else can go jump in a lake. This smells like an attempt to keep that gravy train going.

The marketplace has spoken.

You know KUER and KUSU would be in the same boat if it weren't for the $600,000 in state tax money they get every year.

Both KCPW and KRCL don't get any state tax money - hence the financial difficulties.

I'm suprised...

that none of the companies like Clear Channel etc are interested in buying the station to grasp the advertising market in Park City and the surrounding areas...

Blair Feulner rakes in the cash to send KCPW into an operating deficit of $400,000 per year. No wonder he wants to cut KCPW loose and rake in the cash from the sale of the station. My decision not to donate a dime to this fellow appears to be correct.

To "I'm suprised (sic)" - KCPW is the Salt Lake City area station and is also in the non-commercial band. Any radio station between 87.9 FM and 91.9 FM in the USA must fulfill an "educational" mission and can only 'sell' underwriting sponsorships. These are not typical commercials, so a company like Clear Channel would not want the station.

Also, Clear Channel is capped at their current ownership for stations in the market by the FCC.
