One of the other giant Republican principles that I always associated with the Republican Party was its staunch, unwavering support for a balanced budget, avoidance of deficit budgeting (untial Ronald Reagan made it popular) to spend more federal money than it had in income (due to huge popular tax cuts), and an bitter dislike of big corporate monopolies and thus anti-trust into order to maintain free market competition and hold down prices for the consumer. What happened to the Republican Party? It's gone now.
