I like your list of best players. I would like it better if you included the best player in the State. After watching BOO play at Alta I think I have seen the best LB I have seen play in this state. There was a good reason the Deseret News picked him for the player of the year! The hardest part of this is that I am a Jordan High fan!!!!Jay Nielsen

If Colton Nichter of Park City is not in the top 10, then something is wrong. He signed with Vandy. That is the SEC conference. Not the MWC. Tells alot about how these kids are ranked.

If he was such a great player and worthy of a top 10 mention why was he not, er...mentioned?

There's a reason he's going to be a preferred walk-on at the U. Character issues! Plus, he's a non-qualifier so he's probably not even going to be practicing for the U. He's a prop-48 kid who needs to get his stuff together before he even sees the field again. Truth is, he may have peaked at 17 years old. Get your grades in order, Boo! Some of us local high school followers want to see you kids having success on a bigger stage! Don't let your state championship game be your last!

Going to Vanderbilt makes the kid a top 10 in the state guy? You have to be kidding me, right? If Vanderbilt played either Utah or BYU this upcoming year they would be big underdogs. Why would their recruit hold more weight?

Nice report, especially having a coach from an opposing school sing their praises. That was a special touch than the usual home cooking of the player's own coach. You get a much better feel for the athlete's true strengths and skills this way. Good job!

What no aggies on the list?? Oh, I forgot the aggies don't recruit instate kids.

Excellent idea having opposing coaches tell us about the student-athlete. Sounds like some wonderful young men. Hope they stay healthy and are successful at the next level.

This article lists the players in alpabetical order whereas it would have been better had it been done in the order of best to least, which you can find on Rivals.com. That order is: Katoa, Kruger, Murphy (must be the name), Holt, Walker, Sharkerin, Tuimauga, Sorenson, Langi & Nicholson. And, they (Rivals) ranked Utah over BYU: Utah #59, S.D. St. #79 & BYU $83. So much for BYU winning the instate recruiting battle every year as Coach Mendenhall said they would do last year, I am a BYU alumnus.

Walt, you put your stock in what Rivals says? I am guessing that you are ignorant as to how these ranking systems operate. Rivals is notorious for not covering the western United States. Scout has BYU at #59, Utah #64, Air Force #77, and #San Diego State 90.

Plus recruiting services average out the star rankings to come up with this ranked list. Thus under-rated and unevaluated players dramatically bring down these averages.

Also Utah only landed 15 recruits. Don't fret though, you can hang your hat on the fact that the yewts signed more recruits than Western Kentucky, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, San Jose State and the mighty Northern Illinois Huskies.

These facts make the future look dim for the Utes. I am a Utah alumnus.

The reason why Utah signed less is because believe it or not they have more RM's coming back than BYU. See, at BYU they preach that but most of the kids believe they are serving their mission by playing for BYU. Or they just fail to qualify (Unga, Hall sent home). More Mormon kids at Utah probably serve missions than BYU...ironic.

Please provide facts on Utah vs BYU rm's. I'll bet you are wrong. Not that rm vs non rm it matters to me, I just don't get why you would likely post incorrect statements as facts.
