"the next big play place for uranium" Excuse me if I don't jump for joy. Do you mean play place like the navajo children who plaid in yellow ponds of contaminated water and hard working folk in the four corner areas that came home from work with yellow cake on their uniforms. Perhaps the author of the article should look at the recent senate hearings on the health problems caused by these operations and try writing a balanced account.

Times have changed,so have regulations. The US barely produces 5% of its annual requirement - lets continue to be dependant on others just like oil.

Times have changed. Today, uranium mining and milling is a proven safe technology and so is nuclear power generation. Mistakes were made in the past but there are now plenty of government regulations and agencies to enforce strict rules for public safety. 1 in 5 homes in the U.S. get their electricity from nuclear generators. It's a proven clean and safe viable alternative energy source. We need all the domestic clean energy sources now more than ever.

if global warming is caused by man then we have to use as much non-fossil fuels energy sources as we can, nuclear fits this need. you cannot meet high peak demand reliably and economically with wind, solar or hydro, nukes are cleaner than any other high-output power source.
like it or not

Shootaring Canyon mill was the last U.S. uranium mill ever built and had a short run in the early 1980s. It is now on standby status.
