He has 'gone home' — Service full of fond memories

Here in the isles of the sea in Hawaii, as we watched the services for our
prophet, there was not a dry eye in the house. He blessed all of our lives
through his example and faith. We love our dear prophet Gordon Bitner Hinckley.

Question: Where will the prophets be buried after the Salt Lake City Cemetery is
full? It is going to happen soon and all but 3 presidents are buried there.
People seem to gravitate towards that cemetery.

My first thoughts when I heard that Pres Hinckley had passed away was not of
sadness so much as gladness knowing that he was finally again with his wife,
Marjorie, whom I know he loved dearly.
The real emotional clincher for me was at the end of the funeral while the the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang the closing song and when while watching at home, there were video clips of many monumental events in which Pres Hinckley was involved. His happy smile and many waves and his genuine love for those he visited could be felt through the airwaves. I did not know that such events and the funeral would be so personal to me. It felt as if he could have been my grandfather.
Thank you President Hinckley for your precious example of love for the Savior and for His people. Your example has changed my life for the better and helped me realize the true mission of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Watching on the BYUTV station here in Plano, Texas, my husband, President
Hinckley's 2nd cousin and I were mindful of all the wonderful things
accomplished by this great man. I am not a Mormon, but I had the utmost respect
and admiration of President Hinckley having met him briefly only once. He spoke
at my father-in-law's service back in January, 1988 before he was
President, and it was eloquent as he and my father-in-law, George Hinckley, were
1st cousins. My husband, Ed, was tearful through most of the service and
humbled by President Hinckley's service, not only to the Lord, but to the
church and the world. He made an impact and shall not be forgotten. Bless his
sweet family and all who follow him.

Thank you President Hinckley for your example and for teaching us to do the
things that the Lord has commanded. You have asked us to do nothing that you
haven't done yourself already and that helps me to know that I can do it
too. We love you President Hinckley. May you now rest in the peace you so very
well deserve. God be with you till we meet again!

I have felt for quite some time now that a fitting name could well be the "
Gordon B. Hinckley Conference Center ". This gesture would be a suitable
memorial to our dear late Prophet President Hinckley. We will dearly miss this
great loving and humble servant of our Saviour.

Last Sunday the phone rang. My 15 year old daughter answered and immediately
after hello, began sobbing. I grabbed the phone from her hand, fearing a death
in the family, to hear from my 15 yr old niece in Salt Lake that Pres. Hinckley
had passed away about an hour before. All week long and watching the funeral
yesterday, it feels as though there is now a hole in our lives. Pres. Hinckley
was more than someone we watched and admired from afar- he was an important
member of our family and we will miss his wise and loving guidance. Thank you
Hinckley family for sharing your father and for letting him be part of our
family too. We too thought he was adorable and my 4 teenage children loved him
without reservation. We're going to take the challenge to try a little
harder, stand a little taller, raise the bar and always do our very best. Thank
you for reminding us to not take ourselves so seriously that we can't have
a little fun. Thank you for helping us stand in sacred places. Godspeed.

Jeffery Holland,came to Tyler Tx.and spoke so sweetly of Pres.Hinkleys love for
his beloved wife and how neither one wantsd to leave the other alone after
leaving this existance:So when I heard of his passing it was bitter sweet ,I
knew he was again with his sweetheart!!!!!!!!We will truly miss his sweet sweet
spirit!!!!!!Our prayers go out to his children ,and grandchildern!!!!!

I was inactive for over 20 years. I came back into active membership around
2000. President Hinckley was "my"prophet, even though I was born in
President McKay's era.
I have loved him, and been very greatful for his love, humor and most of all the way he reached out to all people.
I will miss him, but I am greatful to have had him in my life, and to have loved him so well.
I know we will meet and enjoy each other's company again. He is our brother, just as our Savior is our brother. There are so many brothers and sisters on the other side of the veil that I can't wait to talk to!

I'm not an active member, but Pres. Hinkley was the only prophet I have
ever known. He did amazing things for this world, and did so without judgement.
He was an amazing man and will be remembered always. He was greated with open
arms and one big party. He got to dance with his sweetheart once again. I hope
that heaven is as wonderful as you hoped it was... I am glad you have found
peace at last.

I received an email yesterday about a challenge to anyone wanting to pay tribute
to President Hinkley. The challenge is to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days,
starting the Monday after his funeral (Feb 4th). There is a website, hinkley
challenge.com, that you can go to and add your name to the list of those who
have already accepted the challenge. You can also track your daily progress.

While my father was still living,he shared a chuckle with me--a young child,
whose grandparents lived in my father's ward, commented: "I like
visiting grandma's and grandpa's ward, because I can see President!
The child thought my dad was President Hinckley! I jokingly told him he better
behave himself! But what a wonderful example of the love children of the Church
had for President Hinckley.
I, myself love his quote: "Keep trying. . .be believing. Be happy. Don't get discouraged. Things will work out."

We have loved President Gordon B. Hinkley for the spiritual leader he has been
and is. He shall never be forgotten. Our sympathies to his wonderful family,
What a great legacy they have. It is fun to think of his reunion with his
beautiful Margorie, his family, general authorities. Thank you to the media.

President Hinckley will be missed by all. His message in the Ensign will be
missed. I do have a memory of him and I will cherish his wisdom.

I missed the funeral service-I didn't cry until I saw a picture of the
empty chair between Pres. Monson and Pres. Eyring in this online Newspaper.
Thanks to Yahoo for alerting me to this article! Wow. Well covered. I was only
happy for President Hinckley, since I am so lucky to belong to the true church
and we know about eternal life! I was actually excited for him, I found out
about his passing after Stake Conference that morning and attending the Saints
Unified Voices directed by Gladys Knight in Fremont, CA. That comment about the
teenagers texting each other to wear Sunday Best on Monday floored me! How
awesome!

I have miles to go before I can consider myself adequate as a follower of
Christ. While reading everyone else's comments, sounding so Christ-like
and positive, I feel a bit ashamed that I cannot stop crying unconsolably over
the passing of the most incredile human being I've ever 'felt'
and 'known'. I will miss him so very much and his death has
strenghtened my reslove to be a stronger Christian and a good exmaple of our
Church. I love you Gordon B Hinkley. We've never met but I am working
towards qualifying to see and meet you someday.

I am sadden by the passing of a great man a huge revelator and the guide to so
many fellow Mormons. I do hope that as our new Prophet takes his place that
we all will remember to mention him by name in our prayers..As there is power in
our spoken prayer..For our First Brother in the flesh,Jesus the Christ, taught
us that only as we speak the Word, can it. come into power
