From Hart's performance, I dont think he will be sorely missed. Ronnie Price is one of the fastest players in the NBA, is a decent passer, and can shoot with anyone. Price has a bigger upside, anyway. This will give him a chance to develop.
Great! | 11:47 a.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Really, who cares? The Jazz are better off without him, and frankly should never have let go of Dee Brown. We are wasting 5 million over two years on Heart, for what? What did Dee Brown not do, in his first NBA season mind you, that caused the Jazz to let him go? Brown was not a worldbeater but a great compliment to Williams, who was more than adequate for 10 min. a game. And being so young was going to improve over time. He added a lot of energy to the team as well.
No loss | 12:23 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
I don't wish an injury on anyone, but the Jazz really are better without Hart. He has no offensive skills and Price is much better.

Great! You remind me once again why I'm starting to avoid reading these message boards. I hope someone cheers the next time you get hurt.
Billy's Shorts | 1:34 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Billy thinks that this is wonderful news. Now the Jazz have a better chance to win on the road on National TV. Price is much better than hart. Sloan will be last one to realize this, if he ever does. Billy hopes that hart is out for a very long time.

If you think Price is better, fine. I might even agree. But what's wrong with you people, gloating over someone else's injury?

I hope somebody thinks it's wonderful news when something goes wrong in Billy's Shorts. Maybe there's already something wrong in there.

I do not wish an injury or poor health on anyone.

Speaking purely of the situation now, I do believe Price appears better able to initiate the Jazz sets and run plays better than Hart. Price really appears to be calm and does not really get rattled. Hart is always pressing (dribbling the ball through the floor) at the end of the shot clock to rush a play.

It is absolutely paralyzing to think what would happen to this team if D-Will went down with an injury. We can weather a loss at any other position but PG. Yikes.
Phil Jackson | 2:11 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
It's amazing how much more the fans know about the Jazz and coaching than Jerry Sloan. Jerry really should read these posts so he can be a better coach.
dbrownfan | 2:18 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
I think Jazz brass have made some great moves in getting the players they have now, but I'm still so puzzled why they didn't get Dee Brown. He looked great at the Rocky Mountain Revue and managed the game masterfully. Why not keep a decent PG as a backup that already knows the sytstem? I'm sure Deron Williams must be wondering what the Jazz were thinking on not keeping Dee.
Ol'pro | 2:23 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Ing, point is.... It's a sad situation that an injury to a human is the basis of opening the eye's of the coach . He is the one that has had his narrow minded opinions regarding young players and them not knowing anything about the game , this is FACT .

his own statement " just because they can jump through the backboard does'nt mean that they know basketball" How absurt that was . But as others so readily say " oh well that's Jerry "

Point shows that some one with one year experience can or is just as good as one that has had seven teams in six years and still has problems .
Sad but true .

It's not the player , it's the narrow minded coach that is the blame for this discontent and (MOTO-X) GIBBERISCH
Truth | 2:25 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
I don't wish for ill health issues for anyone normaly, cetainly no Jazz team member. We can blog all we want about the Hart- Price issue we want but do you know what - it's a coaching decision. I happen to live in Washington county so no snow issues here but I wouldn't care if people like Billy's Shorts fell on the ice up there and was laid up. What goes around Billy comes around.

I'm sad he's hurt but price is much better! I think its a gain!
Matt | 3:10 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
I think its funny that we all like Price better than we like Hart. Just cause he's local, dunked on Boozer, and Hart has a goofy looking shot.

At the beginning of the season I yelled at the TV everytime Hart came in, but a few weeks ago I realized that the Jazz actually started playing better as a team when he came in (this was during the slump.) Hart actually does a great job.

Remember when we all loved Jacque Vaughn? I thought he even played well, but when he came in for Stockon, we always lost our lead. It's the opposite with Hart. He leads the second team really well.

I like Price's athletic ability and his ability to score, I really hope he earns a spot in the rotation (I hate watching Hart's shot, its ugly, and I hate how he stands by the half court line like he's afraid to attack) but, as far as I've seen it, Hart has out performed Price.

As for Dee Brown...he played well for what, 4 plays against the Spurs? GIVE ME A BREAK! He's a great guy, but he wasn't that good.
Delby | 3:18 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Take your time Hart.....take your time
Delby | 3:23 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
MOTO X is not speaking gibberish, everytime I watch a game where heart ends the quarter or the half, he always launches the last shot. the first time price had a chance, he left himself plenty of time on the clock, broke down his defender and got a layup, not a half court hail mary. It is too bad that it is just a bulging disk in Hart's back, next time, someone needs to go for his knee.
Mangus | 3:44 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
I'm SO SO HAPPY He's not playing...I can't stand watching Him turn the ball over...Why does he hold the ball for so long when the quarter is ending? Get rid of him.
Gali grorge | 4:02 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
i see that jazz fans are speaking from the hearts instead of thier Basketball IQ. price is a very good young player who is a tweener he is to small for his ideal postion which is a two gaurd, he does not look to pass vs hart who looks for others unless he has to shoot. do you think hart could continue to shoot if sloan did not tell him to. an plus the jazz dont need another offensive minded backup to a already offensive minded Dwill. every player has a role on the team an when hart is ask to do his he does it pretty well in 10 min. i want to see jazz fans to a great job when they only have a short time to get it done an produce all star numbers. look at harts stats per forty min an then talk jazz fans
Ryan | 4:14 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
I do like Price better than Hart he's better offensively, but I think the reason mainly of why they brought Hart to Utah is for his defense! He's a great defender just not a great court general.
Agreed with Mangus | 4:34 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Hart is a terrible back up point guard to Deron Williams. And for all of you who say the Jazz are stupid for getting rid of Dee Brown, give it up. I loved Dee Brown. I wish he was on the team still, I really do. But he wasn't that good. No other team in the NBA wanted him. There's not a difference between him and price, so give it up. I'm very glad price will be backing up D-Will on this road trip.
Price > Hart | 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Hart is shooting .320
Price is shooting .406

Hart is averaging 3.4 points per game
Price is averaging 2.5 points per game

Hart averages 12.6 min. per game in 41 games
Price averages 6.5 min. per game in 26 games

Their turnovers and rebounds are about the same as far as minutes divided by the number they have on the season...Price would be dominating Hart in steals and points if everything was equal, and obviously he shoots better...

I actually don't mind Hart, but Price is much better in my opinion...He just seems like he is out there to win, and Hart is out there to try and just not lose the game...but thats my opinion...

and there is a difference for those of you who want to question my opinions...
jazzfan82 | 5:24 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
It is sad that Jazz fans have to wish an injury on someone to get a player they like in the game, but that is what we have to do because if someone like hart doesnt get hurt price will never play even if hart shoots 30% from the feild and cant run the team after D-Dub goes out. That is the coach we have and he will never change. So please dont bag on Jazz fans for wanting someone to get hurt we really dont want them hurt, we just want someone who the whole state can see is better to play point gaurd for this team. And we are not wasting the 5 million on hart, look on the bright side his kids arent riding low with all of that money.

And there has to be more to the Dee Brown story than we know. Something doesnt add up there and I think it has something to do with Deron Williams I cant imagine the Jazz front office letting go of Dee if Deron wanted him here. I wish someone would do some research and do an article on what they find with that situation.
Jazzsmack | 5:53 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
It's sad that it take injuries for sloan to play the right players.

But what else can we expect from the worlds greatest coach?
I have a Hart, but... | 6:31 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
I don't wish harm on anyone, but Hart's injury provides an opportunity for Price to show what he has to offer. I think that Price should be playing over Hart. Like I said, it's too bad an injury has to happen for Price to get that opportunity, and I don't delight in anyone's pain, but I'd like to see Price getting Hart's minutes.

I would honestly like to see CJ getting more minutes as well. I think the Jazz could train him to be a formidable PG, in my opinion. He's got a great shot, has gained confidence this year, and has proven he's not afraid to drive. I questioned his maturity for a while, and he has a ways to go, but I'm enjoying Miles' progress.
Ing | 9:31 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Oy. I really shouldn't read these boards anymore. MotoX, it's gibberish. That's the correct spelling, and that's usually how your opinions sound.

Your Sloan quote (or is it SLOWn?) disproves your own point. (Besides which, you mangled it; *through* the backboard? Ouch. Maybe over it would be better.) It's absolutely TRUE that being able to jump high and move quickly doesn't necessarily mean a guy knows how to play basketball to benefit the team. Look at Stockton and Malone as examples of people who weren't always the highest jumpers or the quickest guys on the court, but knew how to play basketball. The game is full of people who can jump high, run fast, and dunk the ball, but who can't REALLY play well on a team.

I'm not saying Sloan is perfect; maybe this injury to Hart really will open his eyes to a player he doesn't fully appreciate. But give Sloan some credit for knowing more about basketball--especially about coaching it--than any of us do.

It's ridiculous not to.

First of all, the Jazz didn't "get rid" of Dee Brown. Dee Brown left to play in Europe because the Jazz are so saturated with guards right now. He most likely wouldn't have been able to get signed to a second-year, so he took an offer in Turkey before it was too late and he was left without a job. Apparently they were close to signing him, but the deal never went through. Deron definitely wanted him here, there was no question about that.

That being said, I think if Dee would have been re-signed, he would be the perfect 2nd man for Deron with Ronnie as 3rd. Not that I don't like Hart, but Dee played with D-Will in college, and they have a great chemistry together. Its too bad he's still not around.
Re: darkcoupon | 10:01 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
The Jazz were not close to signing Dee Brown. He wanted a guaranteed contract, the Jazz didn't want to give him one, the qualifying offer was not a guaranteed contract. They then signed Ronnie Price, essentially cutting him out of the picture. He picked Turkey over NBDL for the money (which is a huge difference). The Jazz still own his rights and if they want to bring him in again they can.
Re; dbrownfan | 10:18 p.m. Feb. 1, 2008
Are we thinking of the same Dee Brown? The guy did nothing exceptionally. I mean, he was a model citizen. He was an unspectacular player, turnover prone, and a terrible shooter. It's pretty bad when you make less than 33% of your shots. We're talking worse than Keith McLeod shooting (who I liked better than Brown).

I hate to trash on Brown, but I am tired of everyone still whining about how we don't have him any more. He was a fan favorite, but a pretty mediocre young player. I wish him the best, but the Jazz didn't make a mistake by not re-signing him.

@ The Dee Brown club.

No other NBA team thinks Dee should be on their roster - that should tell you something. But I would like to see Dee back in the NBA someday.

Price > Hart

I'm glad RP is getting an opp. But hope Hart heels soon in any case.

I like Price's energy, hops, shot, and his active defense. His passing is suspect - but if he stays in the offense, he can do fine.
