Amen! Enough said.

This is truly the Lord Jesus Christ's church. Isn't a wonderful thing to see the order and peace that transpires when we transition,as we progress,as we lead,as we follow.

RIP

RIP Pres Hinckley, as the path has been laid of who will succeed him why does the D.N. have a headline stating 'President Monson likely next leader' when obviously he is!!!!

Troutman

Why didn't Joseph go before the Lord on this matter?
He knew he was going to die at an early age? It took 3 years to put Brigham Young in! So I am not being argumentative in any way. I seriously would like to know why Joseph didn't inquire about this matter of succession? Only 50% of LDS families came out West because of the discontent of 3 years! I can't imagine the confusion! I am glad I didn't live back then!
I have never had anyone answer my question to my satisfaction however? It just seems weird that Joseph basically asked the Lord about most important things, why didn't he ask on this important one?
Poor Emma, I see how she must have felt! Doesn't mean I agree with her, but I can see with all the confusion going on why she would ask for the Patriarchal Order of things!

I offer my prayer to the passing of a humble man that touch my heart. I am a confront and the church has changed my life. I don't drink, smoke, cuss, and hurt people anymore. I have been a failure for the past sixteen years. My life is a temple now I have a beautiful wife and daughter, I'm getting ready to graduate from a University and will be recieving the blessing to bless my Heavenly-father's daughter and granddaughter.I will miss Gordan but I know he's in a safe place. all my relations...

In this Church everything is done in order as it is the Lord's Church, for the Kingdom of God is not a place of confusion. I thank my Heavenly Father for making me belong to His true Church. I know God lives, that Jesus is His son and our dearest saviour. I know this church is true and that President Hinkley was a true prophet of God. By obeying the commandmest of God we assured of meeting President Hinkley once again in the presence of our Lord and Saviour jesus Christ.

Even though I'm saddened by the death of our great President and Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. I realize that the church goes on in a very peaceful and organized manner. It is truly a "House of Order". It is my faith and testimony that comforts me to know that everything will be all right regardless. It is truly the true church upon the face of the earth in these latter-days. It's organization and procedures are perfect and always will be today and forever.

"What comfort this sweet sentence gives, I know that my redeemer lives." What comfort it is to know that we belong to a religion who has Jesus Christ at its head and that we will continue to have a President and Prophet to guide and lead us in these, the latter days. "We thank thee O God for a Prophet".

Its the Lord's church and His house is a house of order. His people knew whom He has chosen even before the world was and we already sustained them in the premortal existence for their foreordaination and today, we are still going to prove that we remained faithful to the trust and love the Lord had shown us. To President Monson, my right hand is waiting to show my support.

Interesting

Sounds similar to the bringing in of a new pope, who is also chosen ultimately by God. How wonderful how the lord works in these vastly different yet mysteriously similar religions.

In the know

This is a point of interest. The senior apostle, or President of the Quorum of the Twelve has always become the new President of the Church. But the method of becoming the senior member changed from when Brigham Young was the President. I read somewhere that he was the senior member determined by age, but since that time, seniority has been determined by longevity in the Quorum. For example, Thomas B. Marsh was the senior member until he was excommunicated in 1838. But he was the 11th Apostle ordained, 3 months after the first three.

Troutman.....I asked this question a few years ago, and was told the following: Brother Brigham didn't become President upon the Prophet's death, because he didn't want the leadership to be further persecuted. The mobs believed that the church would die off because they believed it was a "one man cult". Brother Brigham wanted to get the members out of the area to a safe area before the matter was resolved. They waited until the group was settled in Utah before following the tenets of the Lord.
This is what I was told.

a question

Does anyone out there know how tall Pres. Monson is? My husband says he is 6'5" and I say closer to 6'3".

...truly the Lord Jesus Christ's chruch.....
Ok, sure. But, Christ himself was not a caucasian person. Nor are most of us on this earth. Half aren't even male. Only a small percentage of us live in North America.
And yet, looking at the photo of the past chosen ones...
These are the sorts of realities that cause me to question, and follow a different path.

The great majority of saints followed Brigham YOung out west a few splinter groups emerged but most followed him. Shortly before his death Joseph told the twelve they were in charge.

Wikipedia mentions succesion crisis. Only crisis were those that did not follow the quorom of the twelve. I didn't like likely either President Monson is Prophet. I was hometeaching when I received word of Prophets passing. So I was giving the President of the Churchs lesson that evening. He is president just does not have any counselors. I wonder who the new counselor and apostle will be now.

No campaigning, no ballots--only divine revelation.

Anonymous--people of the Middle East are considered Caucasian.

Most companies, and the Church is a "Corporation", put the best man for job in charge.
What's with this??

Isn't it so wonderful to feel so at peace with the passing of such a beloved leader. I agree Mona
"No campaigning, no ballots--only divine revelation."
We are truly a blessed church to have the process of succession outlined by revelation from above. I do understand your comment Troutman. I've thought the same thing and wondered what I would have done if I'd lived then. It is known now and the Lord's work goes forth.
