Just hope AK is still around, and still playing like this, after the trade deadline passes. The nostalgic side of me hopes that he will, but the pragmatic side thinks AK knows something we don't and is just trying to raise the value of his stock.
If AK can just stay happy, I think this guy can be a huge factor in the Jazz winning their first "rings". He brings things to the table that are impossible for other teams to plan against. Honestly said, I think the Jazz are in just as good a position than anyone else in the league, if not better, to come on the championship scene w a group of young talented, well coached guys, who will have a good at least 3 year window for getting championships. Maybe even 4 or 5. AK needs to stay.
Wow. He has been amazing this last week. Go, Andrei, Go!!!
AK needs to stay? I like AK as much as then next person, but his contract is too much. He earns MAX money and the Jazz are going to need to clear some salary cap this off-season so they can keep D-Will around next few years. Who would you rather keep, AK or D-Will? I know who I would choose.
If LHM is saying that he is willing to go past the salary cap to keep his core unit together, don't you think AK is in those plans? I would say that this is a no brainer.
I don't get why the Spurs don't start Ginobili. Except for Parker and Duncan, he's their best player. Maybe he just looks good coming off the bench because he scores on the other team's bench. Who knows...
Anyway, way to go AK. Now that's earning your MAX money. The Jazz are unbeatable when AK is playing well.
It took me a while to figure the Spur's strategy out too. The main reason they have Ginobili off the bench is the spark he provides to their second unit. Having him play against another teams bench is absolutely devastating, and works well in the Spurs favor since they have enough firepower that they don't need to have him as a starter.
If AK47 can keep it up....
I say we keep him until we can trade for a far better player. Until an offer come up or if O'Connor can pull off an offer keep him in uniform. His value is way up now and I saw a totally different player when he was nailing those shots. His contract is the main issue. Reason why we should hold on to him for the time being.
Why concern yourself about who can pay who? You sound as if your the one writing the checks. Yes Larry does have a decission he may have to make on the luxury tax for a season and Im sure he is well aware that if the team is very close to championship contention he is not going to get rid of anyone. Im not sure as I dont have the figures, but I would think that almost any of the prior championship teams may have been close to or over the tax limit-I dont think a championship comes cheap.
PEOPLE!!!! How many times must you be told??? LHM can sign D-Will for a max contract AND keep AK AND he will not be over the luxury tax!!! If he does choose to go over it would be later when/if he signs other guys as their contracts come up ie. Brew/Millsap etc depending on their market value at that time.
Please stop whining and saying it is either D-Will or AK due to salary cap issues. It shows your ignorance because this has been discussed adnauseum on these boards, the news, and sports radio.
Please stop talking about this FALLACY!!!
As far as AK is concerned: I am a big fan now his pouting appears to be over. He is a special player and can really perform. All that being said he is obviously mentally/emotionally fragile to let his game drop off the planet for a year plus. For the time being though--all good stuff.
This team was severely underachieving, if they would have had even a .500 record during that dismal December we would be in first place in the west instead of the Hornets. We are only 4-5 losses back from them right now. Lost opportunity--sad.
