Dismal State of George W. Bush | 11:32 a.m. Jan. 29, 2008
A year from now, a different president (probably a woman, an African-American, a Mormon or a former POW) will be giving a maiden speech from the well of the House of Representatives. The nation will still be mired in Iraq and may well be battling to emerge from a recession. But one thing is certain: Nostalgia for the good old days when George W. Bush gave a State of the Union will be muted if not nonexistent.

Let's see: George said he does not make mistakes. Remember when he could not think of anything he would like to change?

Well, go ahead, ask him now. He is leaving after years and years, leaving us in recession, a war without end, and a zillion and one bonafide scandals. Including the outing of a cia agent.

That boy made his mark alright! No wonder Mitt and John do not mention his name; they run against "washington" instead. They seem to have forgotten the leader of their party.

Excuse me, but Bush had 7 years and he is "Washington." Why would we want another rich kid? Silver spoon in the mouth? MBA from Ivy League school kid? A guy who has not seen body bags on the field of battle?

McCain looks better every day, even though he also looks much much older every day.

Thank God this will be his last year. Anyone has got to be an improvement

There may be hope for the Neocons of Utah "Bush-bashing." (The less than 30% approval rating may have something to do with it)
I sense the Neoconservative movement had its day post-9/11 and is now dead.
It's time to elect statesmen - not politicians or businessmen.
It's time to come together again.

The lack of posts on this topic reminds me of the Eisenhower days, (when conservatism started to make its authoritarianistic move).
"I like Ike" buttons were everywhere.
But at the end of Eisenhower's reign, you couldn't find anyone who voted for him.

So... we start a war and cut taxes. Brilliant!

Did anyone hear him say that he wanted the United States to purchase grain from foreign countries to help their economy? Talk about 'outsourcing' - How is that suppose to help the already hurting farmers here? I am all for other countries building up their economy and uplifitng their citizens, but not at the expense of this Nation.
