Nice Job Senators!!! | 10:45 a.m. Jan. 29, 2008
You guys are pathetic. We got more problems in this state than you worrying about a few constituents (oh, maybe I mean big donors) who want there kid to have the benefits of both public and home schooling. If you want to home school...DO IT!!! But don't ask to come to our party too.

Parents are a MAJOR reason high school sports are starting to struggle. Now you want to give them the POWER to determine eligibility??? You can say you'll do this and that to keep from things happening, but you know as well as I, that parents will now have more power than ever to determine eligibility.

Like I said, you guys are pathetic. Why dont we put vouchers on the table again while your at it Mr. Bramble and have another EXPENSIVE battle. Thanks for all you do!!!

Sen. Buttars said he wouldn't support an anti-dsicrimination bill prohibiting employment discrimination against gay, lesbian and transgender individuals because government doesn't single out subsets of the population for special treatment. How will he vote on this bill which does exactly that?
High school coach | 3:24 p.m. Jan. 29, 2008
As a coach I have to check and make sure that my kids are attending class, getting good grades and staying out of trouble. If they don't they are off the team. Many times parents are the biggest problem in covering for the misbehavior and lack of school progress for their teens. Who is going to make sure that the home school kids are completing what is expected of kids who attend the schools.

Poor baby, it's your JOB! I don't get to pick and choose what part of my job I'd like to do.

You'll never convince me that coaches (maybe not you) all across this country give athletes higher scores than they deserve so they can play.

Home School parents pay the same amount of taxes as everyone else. Which means they pay your salary and for those stadiums etc. without sending their children into your over filled classrooms.

I do not home school my children but I get so tired of everyone saying if you don't choose the same way I do then you can't play.

BTW no one asks home schooling parents if their grades are good enough to pay those taxes that pay your salary, they just have to pay.

So when a kid is doing poor academically in school and knows that they aren't going to get to play their sport they can go and apply for home school. Then all they need to do is get Mom to sign an note saying they are up to par. The kid can then have their glorious high school ball career and play in 20 or 30 more games. But alas, when its over they will still be uneducated and will spend the rest of their life doing a menial job and struggling. Sounds like a good trade off to me!

I was not homeschooled but if there was a survey done, I think you'd find that MOST homeschoolers are smarter than public school kids. They homeschool so they can learn at their own pace and not have to deal with this no child left behind nonsense that just holds them back.

In most cases, children that are home schooled gain a higher degree of education - simply because the education is one on one....something that rarely happens in a classroom. I home school my daughter because the school system refused to do what was needed in order for her to learn - now, she is getting the education she deserves.....but is missing out on the opportunities that extracurricular activities allow a child.
