Truly the mantle of exemplary leadership, wisdom, and prophethood has passed over the head of a great prophet to the one whose right it is to succeed him. President Gordon Bitner Hinckley has indeed lived, loved, and left an enduring legacy for millions yet unborn to emulate from generation to generation!

We will always miss a great and humblest of all humankindness!

President Hinckley was/is such an example for all of us. He was optomistic in the face of challenge and doomsdayers and was faithful to the end. How can any of us strive to do less. I can only imagine the shout of joy that went up when he walked through the veil and was met by so many he loved and who loved him. What a resume he had to take with him. Thank you President Hinckley for your life and the service you so freely gave. We love you and look forward to a glorious reunion!

I am so thankful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father for allowing us to have with us such an insightful, loving, kind, sweet humored, thoughtful man as we found in Pres. Gordan B. Hinkley. Who showed us by his actions to never give up no matter what life throws at you.
Thank you Pres. Hinkley for all of your time and service. Thank you Hinckley family for sharing him with all of us. His life and example will never be forgotten. We Love YOU.

You do not have to agree with President Hinckley, his followers or their church, but out of respect for the individual, maybe voicing your opinions should have been saved for a more appropriate venue. This is one of the problems with our society in general; there is no respect for anything and we focus only on self gratification. Have we all grown so far away from basic human compassion that we cant even acknowledge that he was a human being who has passed and morn the loss? It would have been just as easy to say nothing or better yet, not have read the article and comments. You have wasted more time reading comments and a story that neither of you obviously care about, so why, maybe to get a reaction and attention? I really do feel sorry for the two of you and the world we live in!

God Bless you President Hinckley! Heres to a life of dedication and sacrifice that exemplifies true humanity and is greatly appreciated by many. Hope you are having a joyous reunion with your family!

Enjoy your eternity, President Hinckley. Though not because of your own actions, however great they most certainly were, but because of the Atonement of our loving Saviour, may you find never-ending joy with your loved ones now and forever. How beautiful is the man that acknowledges the sacrifice made by our Lord Jesus Christ, and demonstrates his love for Him through the relentless pursuit to be like Him, and to help others to do the same. I am in awe at the level of your personal faith that your mortal existence so gracefully demonstrated for the rest of the world to learn from.

It was an honor to have been in his presence at the Sacramento Temple dedication. Our ward had BYD at my home when the phone call came.... I had to announce to 22 youth and adults that our prophet of the lord had passed. It was very sad and yet we all were assured that Gordon was being embraced by his wife once again and by Heavenly Father.
His humor, the waving of his cane will be missed!

While serving in Japan from 1958 to 1961 Pres. Hinckley toured our mission 3 times as an assistant to the twelve, one time he gave me advice, "find a good nisei girl and marry her", which I did. And when I did, I asked if he would marry us, which he did in the SL Temple. Many years later, he visited our Stake Conference in Pleasanton, CA, he leaned over to our stake president and said "I know that man". We have a nice photo of him with 5 of our 6 children (our youngest was not born yet). He certainly has been our most favorite general authority ever.

I am so greatful to know president Gordon B. Hinkley. He is a true servant of God, his lifelong service in the church but also helping those who are less fortunate, the humanitarian effort, and counsel of being prepared at all time spiritually but also temprally. I've being blessed to heard from him two weeks ago in our Stake conference through satelite as he spoke to us about marriage and be more tolerable of each other and be more kind, patient and love for one another. I will forever remember him for his faith and great humor during general conference. I was once in the company of our beloved prohet. He attended a sacrament meeting without anyone knowing he was going to be there. What a thrill for all of us. Our lives will go on, and the best way forward is to follow in the footsteps of Gordon Bitner Hinkley, who, after all, was walking in the footsteps of the Saviour. Could any path be clearer, easier maybe, but never clearer. The Saints in this part of Spain join in sadness for our loss, and in joy for heavens gain. Goodnight, and God Bless, president Hinkley.

What a remarkable legacy he has left behind. His passing is a gentle reminder for us all to reflect on his good life and example and try to be kinder and more Christ-like in all that we do as he has so many times admonished us. What a tremendous leader and servant.

When he spoke, you knew that his love for the members of the church and for the Lord was unwaivering. His enthusiasm was infectious and his encouragement, much needed and appreciated. We love him and will miss him.

President Gordon B. Hinckley is one of the most beloved of prophets this Church has known. He will be greatly missed by all of us as members of this Church and by a great many who are not. Perhaps he shall be remembered most by the great mission and work accomplished under his direction and leadership over the past 12+ years that literally has brought The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints "out of obscurity and out of darkness" unto the greater understanding and respect of many in the world. President Gordon B. Hinckley, as a result of the great mission he fulfilled, is almost as familiar a figure to those outside of the Church as to those who comprise its membership. May his family and close friends and associates be comforted and rejoice in the great example and legacy he has left behind for all of us to benefit from. The great temple-building program, the expanded humanitarian relief effort and the Perpetual Education Fund are just a few of the many things accomplished under his leadership that now bless the lives of so many. I thank the Lord for His great Prophet and those yet to follow.

I once went to his Ward in SLC. It was awesome to be in the presence of a man who has been in the presence of the Lord. He was so human and smiled when the speaker was talking about being his Home Teacher. Let us serve his memory as we spread the word of the restoration.

My heartfelt condolence to all the Family members as wells as the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter saints . I still recollect the day I met President Hinckley in New Delhi when he was no world Tour in year 2005 .

Looking into his eyes, I knew he was a Prophet of God. His voices confirmed the message the God would have us listen. I know he is wonderful leader, an exampler and man of vision to lead and build.

Being part of this church for 14 years, I know that He has led the Church the way the lord would want the church to grow. We love President Hinckley, we would miss him but His word and his example will live in our life."

His legacy would continue and God be with you till we meet again, President Hinckley

He is having a wonderful experience being in the presence of his wonderful wife. He also will be greeted by the Great Ones of the Kingdom. I do beleieve that President Gordon B. "World mourns"? Read the story. Utahn's everyone. That is not the world. Trust me, in Tennessee, only the LDS mourn. Nobody else knows squat, or cares, and it's a decent place. "The World" does not have a clue. Write a better story, without the Planet Utah mentality.

President Hinckley came closer to what I imagine my heavenly Father to be than any man I have known. His love and compassion, his unending joy and optmisim, his approachability, his wisdom. He just got kinder and more loving as he got older. He was suffused with light and a great example of hope. I will miss him especially at conference. Meq, there are 13 million members of the church worldwide, the majority of which are outside of the state of Utah. So indeed, there are mourners worldwide. I don't understand your need to attack the notion that this great man was beloved throughout the world, which he definitely was. I stood in a stadium of 100,000 people in Rio De Janeiro who had come to hear him speak. Also, if the world mourning is based on where in the paper it is located, as you seem to indicate, it was the head story on CNN.com last night.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our Beloved Prophet. When I called my 16 year old Granddaughter Danielle to tell her, she expressed sorrow and was concerned with the idea of anyone else being our Prophet. I realized he was the only Prophet she ever knew, like so many young people in the church but that is the great beauty of the Gospel!! There will be more great prophets to lead the church. This one was a truly unique and beloved one but imagine the joy he is having with his Marjorie and with his dear Mother and Father and the great men and women who preceded him!! We heard of President Hinckley's sad passing away, 3 hours after it happened.

He came to Hobart, Tasmania about 5 years ago. I felt privileged to shake his hand. He gave me a smile and then looked kindly into my soul. I on the other hand was speechless and shocked at his youthful appearance.

I hope now President Hinckley can have his wish granted, and sit in a rocking chair with quiet music in the background and dedicate his time to his beloved wife.

What a great Prophet!!! We loved him so much and I know he was a true Prophet of God. I always looked forward to his talks and could not wait to hear his words of inspiration. I knew that everything he said was for the benefit of the Church members. But I do recall him saying he was the Prophet no one listened to. We are going to miss him so much and his cute humor as well. He loved all people and he told them so and he would always tell the members to be a little kinder toward others. He loved people of all faiths and I am sure they felt a great admiration toward him. Who wouldn't? I am thankful he was the Prophet when my children were teenagers. I know his counsel helped my children become who they are today. I will truly miss him and so many others will too. We thank thee oh God for a Prophet who guides us in these latter days and he most certainly did.

We are not to morn, that is but feeling sorry for ourselfs. He is apart of us all now and that's all we wanted while he was alive, to be more like him. Now we have a choice, if we truely loved him then he will forever be apart of us all. Be not afriad for I bring you -------------. Let us join all together as one in his memory and in celibration of life for I know that's what he wanted while he was alive, so let's do it now, for him. May Gods light shine around us for now he's apart of that for always and always, if he is not here then where is he? look no further then your own and your loved ones hearts, I assure you he is there. Let us go one more time to the mountain of truth, love and beauty and see everywhere and everything a shinning example of a life lived from his heart to ours. Do not cry for our loss but rejoice in a life well spent and not a day waisted in service to his beloved family and all of as much. Look up and be whole.

What an awesome man of God!! President Hinckley will be missed, but the gospel tells us that life does not end here. I'm sure he will continue to work with vigor to bring forth the return of the Savior. Alas he is with his sweetheart once again, what joy must fill his heart. Our family will miss his energy, his knowledge, his strength and his awesome humor. I can only imagine the other great spirits he will be mingling with who have served as diligent as himself! What a reunion!!

It came to my attention today that the wonderful youth that attend Basha High School in Chandler, AZ wore their Sunday dress clothes as a sign of respect to honor Pres. Hinckley. How wonderful, in this day and age that a man of 97 can evoke love and inspiration in teenagers, that they would wear white shirts and ties and Sunday dress to a high school where they are very much in the minority. These Mormon kids have at times been mocked for their beliefs, but their desire to show respect to their prophet was more important than fitting in with the group. What a tribute and what love he has inspired. What a most special man.

My family in the Philippines as well as millions of Filipino Saints mourn the passing of the prophet of our time. President Hickley never failed to express his love for the Saints from the isles of the sea. He dedicated the Philippines to the preaching of the gospel and it has blessed the lives of so many. When he visited the Philippines in 1996, my family traveled a long ways just to catch even glimpse of the prophet of God. When we saw him, tears just trickled down our cheeks. Little did I know that I would come to as close to President Hinckley as I could ever wish for when I came to Utah and was priviledged to attend the Filipno Conference broadcasted during the Visayas-Mindanao Regional Conference last April 21, 2007. I had the same emotions I had back then when I first saw the prophet in my homeland. He is a man of God. It is but bitter-sweet to know that he is leaving us to claim his reward for a life very well-lived.

Pres. Hinckley was truly a prophet of God and will be greatly missed. He was the temple builder of the church and I have the opportunity being an ordinance worker in a temple that he dedicated. We had the opportunity to hear him one last time 2 weeks ago at our Regional Stake Conference for 90 stakes in California. What a strength and comfort he is to my spirit of knowing he was given to us for such a long time. He will be truly missed and I'm grateful for the opportunity of knowing him and feeling the spirit he generated each time he spoke and having the opportunity of seeing him in person at General Conference last October. I'll never forget that experience. I'm so glad he is reunited with his dear Marjorie.

In the process of choosing a new stake president in the Auburn Washington Stake, Pres. Hickley interviewed the local stake leaders for their recommendations. I was privaleged to spend some 1 on 1 time with him and had a very pleasant time. My grandfather's brother was a neighbor to him in the East Millcreek area and served as Stake Patriarc while he was the Stake President. Also, as we talked about my being an Audiogist by profession, I realized the great sacrifice he made by his many trips by air around the world as he told me of the frequent middle-ear problems he had which were exasperated by the frequent altitude changes, even in pressurized aircraft. His only public comment regarding the condition was when he remarked at General Conference that he was using a cane because of bouts with vertigo (episodic dizziness). Dizziness is only one of the middle-ear problems as extreme earaches are part of the syndrome. Obviously, these problems didn't slow him down and many parts and peoples of the world were privleged to have personal contact with this great man of God!

Last night when I was with my son Samuel in his bed, and talking with him about President Hinckley death, my son, with a tear in his eyes told me: I feel happy because tonight my Prophet will be with his wife, with Heavenly Father and the other prophets!
I'm deeply impressed by the greatness of this son f God. What a great insspiration has been him in my life and as well in my family.
Saints in Mexico will remember always President Hinckley as the Prophet that completed 12 temples in Lehi's land.

Our family home evening lesson tonight is on "kindness." I can't think of a better example of kindess and goodness than President Hinckley. If we could all, as he would say, "do little better" in showing kindness and tolerance to those around us, this world would be a much better place. The media keeps talking about President Hinckley's legacy. I think it's simple. His legacy is love.

Our whole family will miss Pres. Hinckley. He was our children's Prophet, the one they have grown up knowing. My daughter said, "I wish he could have lived forever". "He will", I replied. Our prayers are with his family, but know the joy he and his wife are experiencing as they re-unite. The world is a better place because God gave him to us for a time.

Thank you Gordon B. Hinckley for being a shining example of commitment to the truth of Heavenly Father and His Son whom appeared to young Joseph Smith jr. who is and was a prophet who restored Jesus Christ gospel in these last days. Knowing what we do about President Hinckley, I think it's safe to assume that he's probably already hard at work (alongside Sister Hinckley) with whatever responsibilities have been assigned to him in the Spirit World. I think of how happy he must be that his youthful spirit doesn't have to struggle with a 97-year old body slowing him down anymore.

I came back to the church shortly after President Hinckley became President of the church. His words and service have inspired me throughout the years. He was a great man and I am sure he was rejoicing as he re-joined his wife. We are mourning the loss of a great man, but rejoicing his life. You will be truly missed by millions.

President Hinkley is the only President of the Church that I have known. I was baptized about a year after he was sustained as the President of the Church. As soon as I heard him speak for the first time I knew that he was a Prophet of the Lord. I loved to hear him speak about doctrine and anticipate his wit. I will miss him, but am grateful that he is now out of his pain and with his wife in eternity.

    Jan. 28, 2008 10:32 a.m.

In 1997 Pres Hinckley presided over an area conference in Denver. We were living in Colorado Springs at the time, and wanting my small children to see our prophet in person, we drove to the arena for the conference. The arena was full, so we had to sit in the overflow outside and watch on closed circuit TV. Above where we were seated was a reception room with large windows. Prior to the start of the conference, Pres. Hinckley came to the windows and waved to all of us seated outside. My children who were 3,4,6 & 9 were convinced he was waving to them personally- which he surely was. After he spoke, my 9 year old son leaned over and said, "Mom, I never knew Pres. Hinckley had such a good sense of humor!" Since that time, my children have felt a very personal connection to him and we have loved him and tried to follow him in all we have done. We'll sorely miss this good and humble man, but oh, what a reunion he must have had on the other side with his beloved Marjorie. Our prayers are with his family. He has richly blessed us all.

President Hinckley has done so much good for the Lords anointed and the world. Though his life just short of centenarian, not many could have accomplished what he has in his century here on earth.

With the Temples dedicated and the work of the Lord going forward, his star will be a match with the seventeen jeweled stars crowning the Holy of Holies in the Salt Lake Temple.

As the fifteenth President of the Lords Church and Kingdom here on earth, his fulfillment of revelations given to Joseph Smith in bringing the Church forth out of obscurity and out of darkness has been an impact for good to this great Faith born in the Americas.

As the Lord has said to those who have returned to him beyond the vail, "Well done Though good and Faithfull servant, enter ye into the joy of the Lord." so it is with Gordon Bitner Hinckley.

President Hinckley had been a great inspiration and a force behind my keeping to the straight and narrow. I have never seen the man - but I have a strong testimony of his being a true prophet. I had hoped to travel from Toronto to Utah this year just to hear him speak. I have been inactive many times in the past and truly "do not procrastinate the day of your salvation." Although I have been active in church for the past year, I regret the days, months and even years I've lost for the opportunity to hear the prophet speak. He will continue to speak to my heart though. While we will surely miss him, he is now joyously in the company of his wife and the rest of his eternal family with his beloved boss - Jesus Christ whom he had served whole-heartedly in his lifetime

And how do we honor the memory of such a great man? He brought us temples and asked us to use them more often, so we will. He set the standard for charity to all nations, so we must continue to donate and reach out in love to those in distress. He pleaded with us to be kind and loving to all mankind, to behave like true Christians, and so we will leave our political, religious and social differences behind us. He counseled us to be free of debt and leave the entrapments of the world behind. There is no better way to honor this prophet of God than to heed his counsel and "get to work"! When we honor him, we honor God.

At President Hinckley's first news conference in the Joseph Smith Building following announcement of his new resposibilities as President of the LDS Church, he was asked to describe the focus of his ministry. He answered, "Carry On." I think that is the best way we can honor and remember our beloved Prophet Leader by making "Carry On" our personal motto. "Carry on" in the work President Hinckley so diligently, brilliantly, inspirationally set the pace, remembering, as he did, the debt we owe to our "pioneer forbears" while we each do our part to prepare the world for the Savior's return.
Following a 1998 meeting honoring Sister Hinckley, my husband and I rode down the elevator with President and Sister Hinckley. This was shortly after their trip to Ghana in which he announced the Temple in that country. I asked President Hinkley where he would be going next, and with typical Hinckleyesque wit he answered "To bed, I hope!"

Dear President Hinckley, Enjoy a brief, well-deserved rest and reunion with your beloved Margorie before you don your "roller skates" again and get back to work in the Spirit World.
    How we love you!

We visited Cove Fort as a family quite by accident once, and learned of the Hinckley family connection to that place. I could feel that it was sacred ground. President Hinckley will be missed by so many, and we send sympathy to all of his family members and those who knew and worked with him closely.

I just want this morning to live honoring President Hinckley's legacy. To be just a little bit of what he was, to truly "stand a little taller", would make anyone a better person. I'm teaching the Book of Mormon Gospel Doctrine class this year. I think this Sunday I will challenge the class to, once again, read the Book of Mormon in four months as a tribute to our beloved friend and leader.

Today I will announce the passing of our prophet to 20 youth. We will hold our own memorial service with youth who love and respect and honor a man who asked them to stand for something, to be smart and humble at the same time, to be worthy for things higher and better than the world ever gives them. Yes, we will miss his quick wit and the way he was always in touch with our needs long after he had conquered his own Goliaths. He was 97 in years but ageless in compassion and insight. We will love and support Pres. Monson as his successor and know Pres. Hinckley is being welcomed by all the "leaves" who left before him.

You lifted and inspired me, made me laugh, made me shed tears of conviction and love for my Savior, my family and my fellow man. Your words and sentences were so eloquent, like a song your voice and inflections, your comedic timing, your countenance, everything enhanced your well chosen words even more. I loved to hear your talks. You were a Prophet. A Prophet has passed. God bless the memory of Gordon B. Hinckley.

I remember when he, an apostle at the time, came to visit my small branch in Malaysia. Just two weeks later I was in Virginia and he was there to organize a stake. I sat right up front, and he said, "I was just in Malaysia visiting the good saints there..." He looked right at me, and I was sure he was going to say," and YOU were there!" Of course, that's not what happened, but having the privilege of sitting at his feet and being taught gospel truths two times in such a short span was truly a privilege. I love President Hinckley and will miss him with all my heart.

At the last session of the Nauvoo temple dedication in 2002, President Hinckley mentioned that he hoped to someday meet the Prophet Joseph, so that he could report what he had done with the church while it was under his watch; and with tears he said, "I hope that Joseph will be pleased with what I have done. I have tried my very best."

    Praise to the Man!

I remember with fondness his visits to Chorley, England. His dedication of the Preston Temple and the joy we all experienced with him on subsequent visits - driving around in the little electric cart - waving to the people and giving his security nightmares!! We have him to thank for a Temple, Chapel, MTC and accommodation all in a wonderfully landscaped site. He truly loved the area and the people where he served in Preston on his mission.

A mixture of sadness at his passing but joy in the knowledge of his reunion with his beloved Marjory - they were complete together. Now they are again. Thank you President Hinckley for the love and example to the world - they did not know he was their prophet too but loved him for his goodness.
The Prophet Joseph Smith will have much to discuss with him, they have much in common. Thanks and love to his family who shared him with us all. "Hail to the Prophet ascended to Heaven"

I am saddened with the death of our beloved Prophet. My sister Dorothy Perry and her husband Don Perry lived in Governor Plaza Condos at the same time as President Hinckly and Marjorie before they moved to the downtown appartments. My sister was totally blind, and they were both so good to her, especially after her husband passed away. I did meet Marjorie in her one day when she was visiting my sister. She remained a good friend to my sister right up to the time my sister passed away. They were both so caring and good to her. I loved our Prophet and he will be missed, but thankful that he could be with us for 96 years, and happy he is reunited with his beloved wife. Love,Lillian B.Anhder Orem, Utah

Thanks to the marvels of the Internet, we can express our love and grief at the loss of our Prophet from all areas on this planet. He has had an unbelievable impact on me for decades.

Daily, we observe the lives and good works of Korean saints. We were in the midst of thousands of faithful Korean saints in Seoul, gathered in summer 2005 with Pres. Hinckley, to celebrate 50 years of the LDS church in Korea. I can testify to his world-wide influence for good, setting a high example in many ways.

I miss him already, but am comforted to know that we will reunite in a better place someday, and that he has, at last, rejoined his eternal companion and other family members.

It is our challenge now, to continue to follow our Prophet's counsel to always "just do the best you can" to live a quality Christ-like life.

I know there is a great reunion going on tonight across the veil with our Saviour Jesus Christ, Sister Hinckley, with family, ancestors, and friends who have gone before, but also with all the prophets that have gone before as well. One of Heavenly Father's sons is safely home again.

Thank you, President Hinckley, for your excellent humble example. You kept the faith, touched many lives, and did the Lord's work throughout your life and endured to the very end. I know you will rest in peace tonight and always. I also know that our Saviour will have more work for you across the veil. You will be missed on this side of the veil.

May you enjoy your time spent now with your beloved Marjorie. You have left behind a great legacy for those you have trained so well to follow in the Savior's footsteps. Your love, example, your teachings and your testimony have fired up generations to let their light shine forth and to spread the Gospel across the world. You have put the Temple within reach of so many millions more people so that millions can enjoy the fulness of the Gospel. President Hinckley you have reached out to our youth with love but with firm guidelines in these difficult times and I thank you as a mother of 7. Your counsel has comforted me so often and lifted me up as did your challenge to our family to read the Book of Mormon. What a blessing that was! Your personal witness of Jesus Christ has been a powerful witness in the life of my family, particularly in the lives of my two missionary sons.I attended your solemn assembly and was deeply moved by the Spirit. May your family and friends be comforted and blessed at this time. We love you and will miss you.

I know, by the power of the Holy Ghost, that Gordon B. Hinckley was a prophet of God. His love, his kindness, his wit, his humor, his skill in communicating, his frankness, his powerful positivity, his compassion, his sincere concern, his faith, and his determination and passion to serve God with all of his soul truly has brought us all closer to our Savior Jesus Christ.
