A prophet for all time

When I heard the news of President Hinckley's passing my first thought was how much the members of the Church and those who knew the Prophet will miss him. My second thought was how happy he must be to be with his beloved wife, Marjorie. Our love and prayers go to President Hinckley's family, the 12 Apostles and their families and to the entire membership of the Church. He was a great prophet and will always be remembered for his vitality, the temples built during his watch, and his wonderful sense of humor.

When I heard of his passing one of my first thoughts was of my family and how this great man has helped me bring them closer to God. We will never forget his humble loving service. May we strive to follow his example.

I am so grateful for President Hinckley's life and service to us, the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm grateful to him for serving the community at large by being a truly Christian example(yes Mormons are Christian), and for sharing the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with positivity, with kindness and great love and even a sense of humor when appropriate. I am grateful for the Temples he helped build, and in particular for the 100th temple which is in Boston so that my husband and I are more readily able to attend. President Hinckley's life and testimony has strengthened my own and for that I am grateful. I'm happy he is able to return to be with his eternal companion Marjorie and our Father in Heaven and our Savior Jesus Christ after so many years of service. He has been a great President of our church and a True living Prophet of God and probably wanted to go to our Eternal Home for a little rest. This church is True and will be led by divine inspiration to a new True Prophet to lead us for the years ahead.

To echo the words of Elder John Taylor when describing the Prophet Joseph Smith, we can apply the same words to Gordon B Hinckley. Under his leadership and lifelong service to the church, Gordon B Hinckley, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men and women in this world...he has dotted the world with temples, issued the Family Proclamation, sent the fulness of the everlasting gospel to all corners of the earth through the use of internet, tv, all all types of media. He lived great and died great in the eyes of God and his people. He left a fame and name that cannot be slain. May the Lord crown you with eternal glory President Hinckley! Until we shall meet again in the kingdom of our Father!

When I hear Gordan B. Hinkley's name I think of the best Prophet that has walked the earth. He spent his days on earth very well and gave his full effort. He hade a great sense of humor and love. He is finally with his wife right now and will be placed in the highest glory. He has been the Prophet ever since I have been alive and I am glad to have grown up with him being the Prophet. He has had the most Temples built than any other Prophet. I am so thankful for him and his teachings and I will miss him so very much as so will a lot of other people. I have only seen him once but he was visiting his wifes grave. Even though I have only seen him once, I feel as though I have known him personally throught my whole life on earth. He is so loving and caring that it is so hard that he has passed. I will always remember
1-27-08. At my school today a lot of people wore Sunday Best. I leave with these words and I also know that Gordan B. Hinkley will always be Remembered!

I remember what Elder Boyd K. Packer once said:

�You were in the war in Heaven and one day when you are in the Spirit World you will be enthralled with those who you are associated with. You will ask someone in which time period he lived in and you might hear: �I was with Moses when he parted the Red Sea�, or �I helped build the Pyramids�, or �I fought with Captain Moroni.� As you were there in amazement, someone will turn to you and ask, �Which prophet�s time did you live in?�, and when you say, �Gordon B. Hinckley�, a hush will fall over every hall, every corridor in heaven and all in attendance will bow at your presence. You were held back six thousand years because you were the most talented, most obedient, most courageous, and most righteous. Are you still? Remember who you are.

A Wonderful Prophet and Servant of our Heavenly Father. President Gordon B. Hinckley was a very kind,compassionate,
loving,loyal,trustworthy,considerate,
truthfull,honorable man of Integrity.
He was and will always be my brother and
I and many other's love him and will miss him,but it is a comfort to know that
he is with his loving wife Marjorie whom he missed and loved so dearly. I never actually met him in person,but I have heard him speak at General Conference's and read the Ensign magazine's with talk's in it that he gave. I believe that one day I will get to meet him and all of the great loyal Prophet's like Joseph Smith Jr. and all who served after him,and many other men and women
who have served God. President Hinckley
was a true Prophet of God as was all of
the Prophet's that served God in their
time and was the leader of the Restored
Gospel of Jesus Christ,our Lord,Savior,
and Redeemer. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's is the
true Church and Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Bible,and Book of Mormon are
true. Of these truth's I Testify in the
name of Jesus Christ Amen.

In response to Elder Van Alexei Ballesteros. From the article published on April 28, 2001 titled "Pres. Packer refutes quote"

President Boyd K. Packer, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve, has released the following concerning a statement he is said to have made:

"We continue to receive reports of the distribution of a quote attributed to me which begins, 'The youth of the Church today were generals in the war in heaven,' and ends with the statement that when they return to heaven 'all in attendance will bow in your presence.'

"I did not make that statement. I do not believe that statement.

"The statement, on occasion, has been attributed to others of the First Presidency and the Twelve. None of the Brethren made that statement."

President Packer has sent a letter to mission presidents requesting their help in clarifying this matter among missionaries and members, and has had posted on some Internet sites carrying the statement a notice that he did not make this declaration.

Thank you Brian for publishing that comment. I am currently transcribing a devotional in which that "quote" by Elder Packer was included. As I searched for a source, I could not find one and am gtareful that you posted it as invalid. We as members of the church really need to be careful not to let the "Mormon Doctrine" such as "He never said it would be easy, he only said it would be worth it" not to be attributed falsely as true doctrine.
