Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting,
And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home:

Deepest condolences to President Hinckley's family and deepest gratitude and love to him. We will miss you.

Gordon B. Hinckley was a man for all seasons. He exemplified every attribute worthy of emulation. He will be missed by millions, both members of the LDS Church and others.

Thanks for being a true Christian. Thanks for your sterling example. Thanks for your selfless service.

God bless the Hinckley family.

Now The Leader Of The Band Has Died. The word has come to Hawaii and to my house of the Passing of President Hinckley. He lived a Great Life and was a Great Example about how to live. Often in the last 20 years I have followed that example. I have listened to his talks and taken his advice. I am a much better person having done so. I saw him when he came to BYUH a few years ago. I truly felt the Spirit and the Love. When he came to Hawaii the last time with Sister Hinckley, he asked us to sing Aloha Oi (Hawaiian Fair Well song), and of course we did. I find little sadness at his passing, only a peace and a sure knowledge that Sister Hinckley will be oh so happy to see him, the wait not having been very long at all. I know he missed her. He told us he did. I know he was in the Upper Room and part of Declaration II. In part because he was there I am here. His TALK on The Family "A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD" hangs on my wall, along with his Picture

I cannot think of a better example of living a Christ-centered life than the life of President Hinckley. Our job now as Church members is to follow suit and honor our beloved prophet by doing what he asked of us all along. This Church will not be different without him, it will be better for having had his leadership and example. Welcome home, dear prophet, and bless you forever! Right now, I have a smile and a warm feeling in my heart, thinking of your sweet reunion with your dear wife. What sweet joy for the eternities!

God speed to our beloved prophet. President Hinckley's faith in Christ and his positive outlook are an inspirational model for life. His determination to serve our Lord and Master and to carry His message of hope to people throughout the world is awesome. I'm grateful that our children have come to know him and to anticipate hearing from him at every possible occasion. He will be missed but his legacy will endure forever as generations are affected by the lessons learned at the feet of this humble man and inspiring leader of the Church.

A great contributor to Christian values

While we are sad because we have lost a great leader, I am happy that he is now with his beloved companion. When I saw President and Sister Hinkley at an area conference in California in the late 90's, I thought that they represented the perfect couple. His example of love of wife and family made his condemnation of spouse and child abuse all the more potent. The Proclamation on the Family holds high the standard for a world that seeks to promote everything but the traditional family.
May our great prophet enjoy his rest in the Lord.

With great sadness I say good-by to a great Prophet, but with happiness in my heart I rejoice in his great reunion with his eternal companion and family members. President Hinckley, I will miss your great smile.

President Hinckley was my favorite prophet. He had such great love for people, especially women and children. I will miss him but am glad that he can now be reunited with his beloved wife.
I will always treasure the hug from a prophet of God at the Kallang Theatre in Singapore when he visited in 2000. It sustained me through many trials that followed. He was truly an inspired man.
Thank you President Hinckley!

Lyle C. Gilbert

A loved and revered prophet. He was truly a giant among men! My prayers go out to the Hinckley family.
