BYU is a "NICE TEAM" but not a good team. They are to be congratulated for the win. But part of it is, it is just another testament of the ridiculous 3 point basket distance. You have to be kidding! If there is to be a 3 point basket at all it must be at least 23 feet, not this 19 or 20, whatever the distance. It's just silly. And what about some of the names of the players these days....what is a 'Jimmer', and a Diserese? Wow!! I'm still saying UNLV is the team to beat in the MWC, which is a joke of a conference.....no one without a ticket can see the games. 19,932 or whatever was the attendance....what was the ticket gross for that number? TCU must be a wonderful team, being beaten by that powerhouse Ute team by 16 or whatever the spread was. Jeff Call, Harmon, and all you MWC lovers keep raving on about how great the thing is!!!! Go Cougars!!!!

I have to eat my words about JT. I thought he was a head case and wouldn't regain his early season form. Glad I was wrong. I hope he keeps it up. Good job Cougs. Now go practice some free throws.

Good win and a fun game to watch. I hate to find negatives in such a positive result but 50% from the free throw line scares me to death - 17 point win or not. Sure, shoot 80% from 3s and we will beat anyone but we won't always do that and JT will likely have more 1-13 games (that's life with a gunner) and it will be those games (especially on the road) that 50% from the line will kill us.

Amen, brother! What happened to the days when BYU was one of the top free throw shooting teams in the country? Hot shooting from long range will come and go, but free throw stats are pretty static. If they don't get that percentage back up to 70-75, they'll be on the short end of more than their share of close games.

It was fun to watch though. If UNLV and BYU can keep winning, the MWC could get 2 bids. I'm looking forward to getting UNLV at home

Different Year! Nothing to get too excited about. We always beat teams at home and look like All-americans when the refs swallow thier wistle and we have a crowd behind us. Every year we gauge how good the team is by a dominating performance in the Marriot Center. DO we not forget that any game that means anything as in post season is played away from there were we are inconsistant to terrible. I will not get excited about this team until they show me that they can do something different from the past 10 years and win on the road.
Need better scrubs | 3:08 p.m. Jan. 27, 2008
Their scrubs smoked our scrubs. BYU was up by 30+ pts with 8 min left and won by less than 20. No confidence in the scrubs to close out a game.

The comments above are spot on. Free throws will cost BYU at least a game or two in conference. THey are horrible. BYU must get tougher on the road. Otherwise, it's a 3rd place finish or lower. Also, I'm dyed-in-the-wool Cougar, but SDSU was on the short end of the officiating stick in the final 30 seconds.

Tis might be to late but, WHAT A BUNCH OF JERKS! Cougars win by 17, shot lights out and all you guys can do is find fault. Talk about fair weather fans. Sure we may not be the best team in the nation but we are Cougars and we won. Get over the negativity.

If the three point line is so close, why aren't other teams shooting 81%.

Plaisted needs to work on his game.

Free throws will catch up with them sooner or later.

Anyone who practices as much as a college player should be able to hit 2/3 of his free throws. Plaisted practically locks his knees when he releases. He has probably been coached on technique, but has a worse time; then reverts to his comfortable worse technique.

Re: Bryan- I agree brother. What a bunch of fickle fans. The Cougs just demolished a team, the final score of 17 was no indicator of the actual game and majority of these comments are critical. This team is not a final four team but they just beat a sound NM team bad, they are tied for first in conference and have an overall record of 15 and 5. I for one am excited about this team and happy for the way they have bounced back after the game at UNLV

Must be another home game....top 10 at home 109 on the road.

to JD: New Mexico played a weak zone leaving BYU players uncontested shots.....lets see what happens next time around.

Utes will end up beating us in the MWC!!! :( They're a better team all-around!
