Dont get me wrong I dont support McCain. I like Mitt and im not even LDS. But McCain isnt lying, look it up Mitt said it.
Personally, I would cross a busy street to shake hands with a POW. I have done it in Texas. They earned it.
War hero? McCain? Yeah, as a fighter and as a POW.
Mitt? Well, maybe he ... well... he didn't. Sometimes simple facts ruin our pardigm.
Nowhere in there do I read that Romney advocates "a" timetable for withdrawal, but rather a "series" of timetables and milestones. DUH! Any successful plan has to have these benchmarks. The next question was asked if he would veto "a" timetable to withdrawal the troops from Iraq, to which Romney answered yes, he would.
Romney all the way!!
It sounds like you are stating that being LDS would qualify someone for the presidency. It is illogical to think that just because one is a member of the church there is inherently character, leadership and integrity embedded in members. I would think quite the opposite and what I see inhereted is superficial character traits and plastic personalities.
Nice try but I think I'll pass. McCain is the Man.
Is Romney not man enough to admit when he is wrong, or to apologize for his ungentlemanly behavior?
Harry Reid Happens to be a Mormon... I wouldn't vote for him if my life depended on it.
Mitt is the only candidate that can get the economy rolling.
Without a strong economy.. we'll have to bring the troops home if weather we want to or not.
Romney is the candidate for me. All this talk about flip-flopping is ridiculous.
Mitt changes his mind on one issue.. Abortion.... (And he didn't try to sweep that under the rug.. he didn't apologies for changing his position... in fact why punish someone for come to the light on such and important issue?)
On the other hand McCain has changed his position on two MAJOR issues in just the last month...
#1 Now he wants the Tax cuts permanent (Even though he voted against them)
#2. Now he has taken a harder stance on Immigration (Trying to emulate Romney's plan).
It's pretty clear who is the REAL flip-flopper.
McCain is who we needed on the battle field when he defended for our country...
But ROMNEY IS WHO WE NEED NOW.
Mitt 08!
Sure McCain was there sitting at the hanoi hotel while everyone else was getting killed or disabled for the rest of their life!!! So why does that guy think he's so great. What a loser using the Vietnam War to worm his way into the whitehouse?? Wakeup AMERICA!!!!!

POW comment. That has got to be one of the worst comments I have ever seen. I don't think you know what these men went through in the Hanoi Hilton. I have read books on that place, I have listened to speeches by former POW's who where there during my time in the military. I listened in shock when they described the different types of tortures that where implemented on them. I have so much respect for Sen Mccain and other POW's. They are Patriots and Heroes. I may not vote for Mccain but I won't object if he gets the nomination.
I wonder what he is going to say in California? Texas? As for my state, pander away! We will forget the real world out there and hustle up to the trough for the dough.
Mitt understand economics? No, I don't think so. Does he understand pandering?
Oh my yes. Oh..... my.......... yes
I would like to qualify that the LDS are smarter than just to vote for an LDS candidate; they also have to be republican. I cant say I agree with the mentality but at least there is a semblance of logical thinking in the political arena in Utah: LDS+Republican=Elect.
This is just the latest in a long series of moral lapses and ethical deficiencies coming from McCain. Remember the Keating-5, in which McCain took a bribe to help cover up the defrauding of the american public via the savings and loan scandal. McCain has clearly proven he cannot be trusted with power, with the blatant abuse of power in the Keating-5 alone. He should not be allowed anywhere near the White House--we cannot afford a Bush II administration. Plus, McCain is an adulterer, a clear lack of moral judgment in this also.
Romney has shown to have much more personal integrity, and is much more morally sound than McCain. Hillary is in the same establishment mode as McCain. Romney is by far the best candidate running for president.
Poor Russ, I read you a lot in Deseret News Comments and you are always throwing a tantrum with no basis! Oh My!
McCain says he is for tax cuts, but he voted against the Bush Tax Cut.
McCain lied. He is a liar.
McCain says he does not support illegal immigrants, but voted in favor of legislations that support amnesty plans.
McCain lied. He is a liar.
McCain flip flops within a 47 second time. The fastest and world-record holder. He earned the gold medal for lying within a 47 second time.
He is the fastest liar. http://thinkprogress.org/2007/02/04/mccain-flip/
McCain says, He Has Never Asked For A Single Earmark Or Pork Barrel Project For His State.
McCain lied about that also.

McCain lied about his infidelity that occurred in 1979.
He was still married and sleeping with another woman.
McCain lied about that also.

Do you want a President who is an aggressive and traditional liar?
McCain can not be trusted with foreign affairs;
He can not be trusted with the national economy;
We must not put a liar in the White House. We must not let a liar become the President of the United States.

Asked what penalty would be imposed if Iraq failed to meet his benchmarks, he said: 'I think everybody knows the consequences. Haven't met the benchmarks? Obviously, then, we're not able to complete the mission. Then you have to examine your options.' "
Later on in the article: "Still, several Senate Democrats who oppose the troop buildup and also may seek the presidency said they were struck by McCain's comments.
'We Catholics call that an epiphany,' said Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Joseph Biden, D-Del., who is sponsoring the main Democratic resolution opposing the troop buildup."
Funny how short McCain's memory is....
Seems he was AGAINST withdrawal, before he was FOR withdrawal, before he was AGAINST withdrawal. Just don't tell the troops....
Lest anyone say I am am a McCain hater I will say I tremendously admire him for his military service and deep patriotism. Going through USAF Survival School and enduring a simulated P.O.W. camp for 36 measly hours made me seriously wonder how those guys did it for YEARS. He IS a hero and he has earned our nation's respect. However, I don't think it speaks highly of McCain's current character to misconstrue Mitt's words and attack him in this manner.

You are all right about the media wanting McCain, though. I joked with a McCainiac co-worker: Bad news for your candidate-Romney up 4% in Rasmussen poll; Worse News: McCain endorsed by 'Rambo'; Kiss of Death: NY Times Endorses McCain.
I would warn those violating the Reagan commandment that even if Romney wins this thing, he may give McCain the VP spot or at least a senior cabinet position and unify the party, which would not be a bad move. In other words, Reagan was wise and should be listened to more than ever in 2008.
BTW, the vicious NY Times swipes at Giuliani are so transparent. They know Rudy's going to lose and be back as the Big Republican in NY and they want to do everything they can to undermine him if he runs for Governor when it's time for the voters to spit on Spitzer. We know your shallow tricks NY Times.
Give me a break. Can't you people be a little more open minded than that? We have minds, you know.
The fact that you assume such a ridiculous notion affects your credibility more than anything.
America's next President will need God's help.
Do you think God would help a Dishonest person?
McCain has proven himself disingenuous and even dishonest.
Romney is an honest man.
Look and Choose Carefully America!

Stuck in Utah
Just remember that Sylvester Stallone, Rocky and all 5 other Rockys and Rambo all have Romney's back. Haha.
Old Vietnam veterans who are political moderates need not apply. And if they do, their intelligence and patriotism will be questioned. Even if they are naval aviators and were TORTURED in Hanoi.
Try landing on an aircraft carrier. It is not for the weak of heart or brain dead. To be a jet pilot requires a lot of things, and one of them is brains.
What a cheap shot.

I voted for McCain when he ran in the primary against Bush (sorry George). At the time I was somewhat wary of his reactionary temperament at the time but I liked what he had to say and chalked it up to the pressures of the campaign. In the last few weeks I've watched him closely with the intent to confirm that my vote for him was the right direction. Disappointingly, it is not.
Perhaps it is age, perhaps it is too long in Washington, but I've come to see that John McCain does not reflect my values or principles at all. I've been extremely disappointed in the man I once thought of as my future president and if he is the Republican nominee I will probably not even vote in November as the top runners in the democrat party are ones that I could not in good conscience vote for either. I might be able to vote for John Edwards if he were even on the radar.
