Keep telling yourself that.
44% are against him... | 9:55 a.m. Jan. 27, 2008
...because of his religion. Spin it all you want, but if that's the basal complaint (and then voters see other things they don't like), you can't win.

Spin, spin, spin.

Let them come to Utah and see how united this state is. Utah is, bar none, the most religiously divided state in the nation.

Pollsters talk about the "Bradley effect" (named after former LA Mayor Tom Bradley, an African-American.)

According to the "Bradley effect" theory, people lie to pollsters in order to seem politically correct. So if 44% are willing to admit that Mormonism is a problem, the real figure could be as high as 60%.

As a democrat, I hope Mitt is the candidate, that way we win. As an American, I hope McCain is the candidate because I might even vote for him.

I'm not anti-Mormon, I just don't trust salesman Mitt.
His religion . . . | 11:48 a.m. Jan. 27, 2008
. . . shouldn't be an issue. His lack of competence and honesty, and the bankrupt nature of of his positions, should be. This country deserves better than him in high office.

Governor Romney was dubbed "Lord of the Rings" for the 2002 Olympics. His three years in Salt Lake were MORE than successful. He erased an operating deficit of $379 million, organized 23,000 volunteers, energized cohesion in community spirit, guided a security mobilization that was unprecedented after the September 11th attacks, all which led to the most successful and profitable Olympics in the history of our nation. This is a small synopsis of his multiple successes. Who said we don't need a President like him? The proof is in the pudding. Wake up America!

Well said. I'm a Republican and support McCain but it's true that Mitt Romney's religion is a serious issue that will hamper his chances, especially in the conservative South (where I live). Romney may find that out tomorrow. Florida is more moderate but it's still a southern state and I don't expect him to win the Sunshine State. He's a totally reckless candidate and he must not win the GOP nomination.

Look it doesent matter the religion of a person, look at prez. Bush he's catholic but i dident see anyone going around saying oh hes catholic i cant vote for him. I am a member of The Church of Jeasus Christ of Latter Day Saints "Mormon" and am proud of it, but that doesent mean that i am going to vote for Romney just because he is. the person who wins my vote will be the person who can do the most good for our country. Period.
