"Indie" isn't really indie. It's been commodified, codified, and marketed, just like everything else. There's no such thing as being an indie band on a major label--all that really means is that the label has found a niche market to sell the band to.
I don't have a problem with the notion of independent bands, just with the notion that somehow there's an "indie" scene--there's no such thing. To get indie cred, a band has to fit the criteria of the scene, which means basically they have to look and sound just like a lot of other bands. Doesn't sound independent to me.
I don't care if a band is on a major label, small label, or no label, and I don't care what genre or scene it's supposed to be in. I just wish people would make good music and leave it at that.
