Ido not believe that any kid not attending a public high school should be able to play sports for them
What are they thinking? This is another reason why the UHSSA is a joke. Is it run by a bunch of twelve year olds?
If you want your kid to play high school sports, then suck up your "my kid deserves better" ego and send him to a Public school. UHSSA- you really screwed up on this one
I don't understand how this is fair. Will these charter schools allow kids attending a public school to participate in activities at their school?? Man talk about having your cake and eating it too. We don't want our kids going to that school because it's not good enough, but we will let our kids take a spot away from the kid that is attending the public school. Oh and we'll also use that same kid's equipment that he had to do fundraises for and we'll just pay a participation fee. Doesn't make any sense...
would you anti UHSSA people get a clue and actually read the newspaper everyday, the UHSSA is not responsible, the legislature is, the UHSSA said no and the legislature threatened to disband it, every day people blame the uhssa for this stuff, open enrolement, charter schools etc, they are forced into it by the legislature, if you do not like it complain to your state legislature quit blaming the legislatures whipping boy the UHSSA, please people do a little research on the topic and please contact your state represenative.
He's catering to his special interest groups.
Did Madsen try this same approach last year. Is this the same Madsen that serves on the board for a charter school? When is he up for re-election?
Thank you hey ridiculous for getting it. I have been very frustrated with the UHSSA until I also found out the truth. The fact is there are a few key state representatives that have tied the hands of the UHSSA. What you said is true. They are strong arming everything-open enrollment, student athlete transfers, etc- including laws regarding charter schools for their own personal gain. The abuse of power on the hill is out of control. The sooner others realize this the better for all of us.
Hey. I actually attend a charter school, not in Utah, but in new jersey. Heres the deal, we don't go to charter schools because the public one isn't good enough for us, we go because it can suit us better, if we're musically inclined. I go to a school for the preforming arts, incidentally, we don't have a sports program, and we don't have a musical. Why should I not be aloud to participate in something that my family pays for through taxes because we live in the city? Why should I be denied the same opportunities as everyone else? Is it really my fault, or anyone else's fault to attends a charter school that they're better suited at a different environment. In my honest opinion, this is comming from a 16 year old kid, whose actually in this situation, where this bill would benefit me if my state didn't suck. I think you all should look at it from the other point of view, because you know for a fact if it were your child on the other side, you'd be complaining the other way around. So, really, whats the matter with you guys?
I personally think this bill is outrageous. The whole point of charter schools is to seperate or distinguish their child or student from the rest. So the fact that they want their students to be integrated back in so they can play with the prestigious 5A and 4A schools who get all the press. They are just jealous and they would probably never make the teams anyway because high school teams these days are harder than ever to get one of the twenty to thirty spots so good luck.
i think sports are cool and they are good excersise..... why do you say no???? you ppls are weirds... i lpove sports
You rock you cheese brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!******************!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sports are pretty good and good topic ben........................ i want to play sports too
I go to a charter school, and im very athletic. i was looking forward to play a sport in middle school for the high school, but we are not allowed. It is my last year in middle school, and i am very dissapointed that i was not allowed to play a high school sport. We are regular student, and we do not attend a private school. We go to a public charter school, but we get treated differently. And i completely disagree with "not going to happen". we are good enough to get on the team. we chose to go to a charter school to get better education. Just because we go to a charter school, that doesnt make us any different that any other students. we are regular people and we should have the same rights as people that do not go to charter schools. Think of it if you went to a charter school, and were a great athlete, but you were not allowed to play your favorite sport in the world. what would you do? you would not like it, and you would to play the sport. please think about it in your point of view. Thanks.
hey this is philip. the charter school is the best wAY to prmote sports in todays world
