We need these driver privlege cards outlawed. Nothing less. The audit has plenty of holes in it. it doesnt account for all illegals who get insurance then cancel thier policy a week later.

Bob G

These so called DP cards should be done away with and force these illegals to get some kind of card from the federal government. That is the way it should be and is supposed to be, the green cards. For states to try and outwit the illegals is stray hopes and not very secure to the american citizens. What we do need is a law also to keep guns and weapons out of the hands of illegal aliens and foreign nationals. At the Gun show in south jordan on Jan 18-19 many illegal aliens were there looking for weapons to purchase using these DP cards. These illegals should not be allowed to arm themselves or purchase guns in the US. It is an act of aggression by them against the american people. Any illegal caught with a gun or illegal knife should be treated as an agressive invader and deported immediatiley, no trial, no jury, no peers. They do not have these rights as illegal foreign nationals. Anyone with a DP card is a known illegal alien, why does the state aid and abet illegal aliens giving them sancutary? The governor has the military reserve units at his dispossal.

Ronald R.

I challenge the truth of this story! I know and work with many illegal aliens and I KNOW that very few,if any, have valid insurance coverage, Most documents are illegal, just like the people who use them. Pass laws that will protect the citizens of the United States and deport every single illegal alien.

Will someone tell me why people who are in a country illegally get "privledges" and the rest of us get to pay for it?

The Rational Middle

Since more than 70% of people with the driving privilidge cards are insured. I urge the legislators to keep this program. For the protection and security of me and my family and other people in the state of Utah.

Ya Right

Just over three-in-four holders of driving privilege cards are insured, "according to a new legislative audit" of the card that allows undocumented immigrants to drive legally.

You know the state is going fudge the numbers to keep the illegal alien driver license in place.

Citizens should demand an independent audit of the insurance for DPC holders, unless the state is afraid there will be a different outcome!

Lee D

This article is misleading, and probably an attempt to sway the legislature in this matter. The audit only checked actual insurance coverage for 76 card holders, finding 18 didn't have insurance. There was no indication of how long these people had their card at the time they were checked.

Stewart

I agree with Ronald R. and challenge the validity of these numbers. As we all know the drivers' license holder is NOT insured, it is the automobile that is insured. A more accurate accounting would be made by checking accidents where illegals with driver privilege cards have insurance, or how many illegal drivers are unable to be found to pay for damages. Coming up with this statistic seems similar to trying to figure out how many illegal aliens are in the state. We really have no clue. With 37,7499 licenses, there must be 3 or 4 times as many that don't have licenses living in the state, and please remember they are all committing ID fraud!

JWK

Saying that illegal immigrants are undocumented immigrants is like saying a drug dealer is an unlicensed pharmacist.

This whole article is talking in riddles. Drivers DO NOT get insured. (I wish they did.) Automobiles do!

The nonsense that the DPC will aid criminal illegal aliens to buy car insurance is just a blatant hoax; a bald-faced lie to allow them some sort of ID.

In federal code NOT to use the ITIN for identification other than when dealing with IRS, yet it is accepted as ID many places.

We have repeatedly been told that the Matricula Counselor card is meaningless for identification, yet many businesses allow it's use.

We need to start applying some common sense, instead of placating the criminal illegal aliens and their greedy employers. It's time!

uncannygunman

What are you people talking about when you say drivers are not insured--of course it's the driver getting insured! What do you all think, your car comes with insurance when you buy it? Or goes and insures itself? Cars don't insure people, people insure people! Or cars! Or something!

And once again, the bizarre concern of Mexicans buying our beer with their driver privilege cards raises its head in the D-News . . .

Yawn. DPCs are to protect us, not them. (Or, more accurately, us AND them)

Nurse Ratchet

This is like everything else I'm beginning to read about our ineffective Utah Legislature. Do they think we are so stupid we can't see that they have no intention of doing what the vast majority of the citizens in this state wants them to do, Obey the Constitution, for Pete's sake. Why is that so unfair for us to ask of our elected officials. How dare they accept the jobs we elect them to do and then spit in our faces and treat us like idiots. We are senior citizens and cannot afford to keep supporting these people who have their hands out for more and more healthcare, education, medicaid, etc. Our daughter went to work this past year just to afford private school for her kids because the Mexicans are so catered to and her children were sitting in class trying to find something to do while the teachers were trying to get the Mexicans to understand. What is up with this? The vast majority of us are sick of it and want something done, NOW. I, for one, can't wait for reelections, I am voting every incumbant, out, except the ones who truly have an interest in our citizens.

Hurtful Feel Good Measure

In the rush to outlaw these cards, who will pay if they hit and injure someone who doesn't have insurance to pay? This is a feel good measure that has the capacity to do real harm.

Hey HFGM, thats a lame excuse if i ever heard. What do you think uninsured motorist coverage is for? for peace of mind, a few extra bucks is worth it. You should also be worried about all the welfare mommies out there that carry no insurance.. I'll be really excited when this law gets repealed.. We need to get rid of the magnet and all citizens will be better off.
