Comments about ‘Orem firm a front for porn?’

Isn't this ironic? Here's a guy offering edited movies and he's having sex on the side with minors & has porn in his Clean Flix video shop.

I think it's interesting that people are claiming this person was self righteous and a hypocrite because he viewed porn while owning his movie editing business. I don't see anything hypocritical about that. He saw a business opportunity to sell edited movies and he acted on it. I don't think that implies that he only watched edited movies.

Soliciting sex with underage girls though.... he should definitely serve time for that.

He won't be the first to use a good worth while cover for an illegitimate purpose. It has nothing to do with Churches, or conservative/liberal which will soon fill these boxes. It has everything to do with a man trying to hide what he's doing. Consider firemen who set fires, Preachers who prey on the trusting, teachers who take advantage of their positions with students, Priests who abuse. They cover themselves in the mantle of something good to throw the rest of us off the scent. Edited movies are still a good thing for some people and this guy is better off in jail.

These guys are absolutely messed up and should be absolutely accountable for their actions. However, their hypocrisy shouldn't deter others from using legitimate parental controls to protect kids from the garbage that is in movies.

This is probably the saddest story i have read in a long time. Those poor girls have to go through life with that gaining only one thing a few $20 bills.

Don't worry guys... where you are going you can keep up your chosen way of life. Cigarettes will replace your money and 50 year old guys with tattoos will replace your 14 year old girls but you will get to go on living it up.

And to think it all started with that first glimpse of Porn and that first brew. Pretty soon their storage supply of porn just didn't cut it anymore.

Hey moms, why is home so bad that a 14 year old would even think of ways to earn money to leave? If you have younger children you might want to analyse your part in this tragedy!

I have never agreed with editing movies. To do so, someone must cut out countless scenes of an inapropriate nature - AND THEN they turn into PORN ADDICTS who molest underage victims!

Seems like these guys really weren't interested in encouraging family values but only taking advantage of the local market and interest in edited films. Their hearts truly weren't in the right place. Really sad.

Wow, the more we learn the sadder the story gets. The girls wanted to prostitute themselves so they could move out?! Good job mom, for getting law enforcement involved.

And hopefully the people from yesterday who were crowing about the hypocrisy in Utah have thought about this a bit more.

This is not about Utahans, or LDS people, or people who prefer edited movies ... and to insist it is so that you can criticize them, is the real hypocrisy.

Seriously, what exactly does the judgmental condemnation of thousands of people who had nothing to do with this say about YOUR character?

Gee..what a surprise. It's not OK for you to view this stuff, but I'll look at it all I want. Hypocracy, all in the name of saving your soul.

This story illustrates several phenomena. 1) Highly spiritual people are more susceptible to become sex addicts. 2) The addiction was likely fed in the process of intense viewing objectionable content in the process of editing it out of the films. 3) The addictive process is a downward spiral, moving from viewing to acting out.

I feel sorry for those who think they can serve such a capacity (editing) and remain unaffected. Perhaps only a eunuch could do that.

For anyone who is an addict who is reading this, I urge you to get involved in a 12-step program. There are meetings nearly every day of the week spread throughout Utah. Sexaholics Anonymous holds them, the LDS Church holds them.

This guy had a long police record and has been incarcerated. BUT....when he opens up a "family-friendly" store, he's now the subject of several news reports for being a "good guy".

Did the cops FORGET what he'd been doing for the past years? How did he get away with this for so long, if he was making porn there?

Nah....as long as people think you're LDS, you can get away with anything.

This is very sad. These 2 males really have a problem. They really need help. The 2 14 year old teenagers really need help too. What is going on in their lives that they would need to lie and do this? I'm grateful for that mother who was interested, nosy and snoopy enough to ask and then do something about the matter. These men should be taken out of society and the girls should be sent to detention. They all need counseling. There's more to life than sex or anything to do with sex. There's other ways of getting what you want in life--like hard work and service to others.

I wish I had known about the guys' criminal records. If I had I would have never patronized their store. Thompson always seemed friendly and helpful. He seemed to really believe in what he was marketing.

Thank heaven's they (Thompson, Lifferith, and the girls) were all found out! No matter what parenting mistakes could have occurred, I must applaud the mother of one of the girls for calling the police...That must have been a very difficult thing to do.

It just goes to show that it doesn't matter where you live -- pornography is everywhere and it's not hiding its awful face very well...

Unfortunately this DOES have something to do with this man's church, his conservative views, and his hypocrisy. We've seen it over and over in the Republican party. Those that protest the loudest about something have proven to be the guiltiest. This man may not be an Idaho Senator, or a preacher that whispers into the ear of George Bush weekly, but this may is a hypocrite. And he played the part dressed in religious and conservative clothing.
