people saying:mr marriott said .if you take care of your associates,your assosiates will take care of the guest then,guest will come back.but they don`t take care of their assosiate,so , how come you want them the associate to take cere of the guest,lol

Marriott used to care but does no longer. Slashing of benefits, all the awards the company gets are for their corporate headquarters not the real workers. Goodbye to what used to be a great brand

Francisco

That is not only happening in Utah,the call center in London (UK)is moving to Cork (Ireland)in April 28th more than 200 people are looking for a job now.
I am wondering is still Fortune ( Magazine) saying;
MArriott the best Company to work for.

Marriott Associate

Marriott does not care about the associates at all only about the money they could save and how they could get rid of the people. Also the London / Huntingdon offices in the UK with 200+ accociates will be closed and the office will be relocated to Cork,Ireland. So far Marriott has not given any opportunity or answers on what is happening to them. Like relocation help if moving to Cork or new job offers if not moving to Cork.
So what about Mr Marriott's policy "if you take care of your associates, your associates will take care of the guests..." It proves that Mr Marriott does not care a tiny little bit....

Former Marriott Associate

A day after receiving an award for five years of service, Marriott announced they were closing the call center I worked at. They had opened a new center in Canada, using our people to help train theirs and set it up, (without telling us they were doing it to replace our jobs of course) and THEN delivered the bombshell. We felt horribly betrayed. The company was deceitful and dishonest and has become yet one more example of a company that knows not the meaning between an reasonable expectation of profit and an egregious expectation of profit. Sending the jobs up to Canada where they don't have to pay their associates as much, and do not have to pay medical expenses was yet another way to shaft not only the people who work for them, but our country itself. The principles that made the company the success it was and the envy of many others, have been discarded one by one, and it is now just one more American company which has lost its moral compass, and given the face of American business the increasingly ugly face that has become our trademark.

Former Marriot Employee

I must agree with the comment above,I also worked at the call center that closed.The reason they gave us of closing our Marriott call center in Stockton Ca, Is that customers were choosing the website and Travel Agents to book for them.At the same time opened a new center in Canada and another in Malaysia. I felt deceived and disrespected that the employees were not even given the respect to here the truth.That they were trying to save money and cut corners.

Former Associate

I also had my position moved to another city. They are moving the sales offices from smaller, customer focused offices to larger offices that are understaffed and staffed with associates right out of school. These associates are expected to handle sales of events and/or group rooms for 90 or more hotels...a daunting task to say the least. It flies in the face of what made Marriott a success...great customer service in a one on one atmosphere. You worked with a sales manager who was there for your events and able to meet with you. How they can expect to maintain that by having all sales managers working in regional centers and not at the hotels is beyond me. They claim it is what the customer wants, I say it's about the dollar and nothing more. I bet JW Marriott is spinning in his grave as his grandson David, who is heading up this transformation, runs the company into the ground. Stock is slipping drastically and associates are becoming more and more disenchanted. The core philosophy of the company has changed to how can we make more money, not how can we best serve associates and guests.

Former Manager

I agree with all the comments above. I considered myself lucky for having my job eliminated 7 years and have only worked for the company for only 7 years. Some of my closest friends are still in the company fearing that they will lose their jobs in the near future. My message is "WAKE UP!" There are other companies out there that will pay you more with better benefits. Job hopping from company to company is not a "sin" anymore. Know your worth! Your experience is valuable...to their competitors.

Marriott associate

Steve Lundgren is quoted in the article saying "Customers' buying habits are changing..." I believe that people are buying on line more and calling less. I would think that the impacted associates in Utah would be happier in new jobs where they can realize their full potential rather than sit around, waiting to answer phones that aren't ringing!
