Of course, it is disturbing when anyone steals anything, especially an item of religious significance but the more serious ramification is what taking something that is not yours does to your mortal and immortal soul. "Thou Shalt Not Steal" is not a suggestion but a Commandment given to us by God for our good. On Judgement Day we will all be held accountable for our misdeeds. Jesus Christ told the two thieves that He was Crucified between that they would be in Paradise with Him that night knowing that His Atonement provided the opportunity for the repentance of the sins of all mankind. Robin Hood's intentions were good but his methods were flawed and, as is said, the path to Hell is strewn with good intentions. In light of the many serious problems in the World, stealing might seem less important in the grand scheme of things but it can be a precursor to other undesirable, personal characteristics, traits and tendencies which, therefore, indicate a person's values and beliefs.
right now....and was obviously NOT purchased by a "collector", but by a merchant for resale.
There's something wrong when religious items become (basically) money-making opportunities.
