This would be interesting. Both are quality airlines, together they would be huge. A merger of the pilot groups would be challenging.
Not so sure about that. The two pilot groups have similar demographics. The Non-union vs. Union combination is what I would be curious to see.
Already seen the "combination"... or lacktherof... with SkyWest Inc's acquisition of ASA. This is probably a smokescreen. We'll see...
Expressjet is already in talks to purchase 170's and 737's to fly for Delta and Virgin. They have a big picture way beyond that of Skywest.
We don't have similar work groups. Skywest is non union and run by Mormans.
The pilot groups are not the same. ExpressJet is union and Skywest is not. ExpressJet is run by free thinking individuals and Skywest is run by Mormans! It would be a horrible merger, plus I have first right of refusal on it anyway. I don't like the Mountains, it isn't good for my pale skin.
It's the only way Expressjet will survive. They are sitting ducks...
It would be a simple pilot seniority list merger. Just staple the Skywest guys to the bottom of Xjet.
Typical small minded banter from those who don't know any better. Like Mormonism has anything to do with an airline merger.
You know...they are creating a legacy regional airline....so much for the regionals staying "competitive" for mainline flying...Skywest Inc is about to hold 3 of the major regionals....Republic owns Chautauqua Airlines, Republic Airlines and Shuttle America.... Let the bidding begin.
I'll believe this when I see it....will be interesting to see how all this plays down....
I must laugh at the Mormon comments with regards to SkyWest. Those comments are just asinine and irrelevant.
In response to jetlink. 737 and 170's for Delta. Knowing Delta as a Delta Connection employee. There are scope clauses that limit the size and seating capacity. I can see the use of 170's, but not a 737. Are the 170's economical that Delta would have you use them? They are gas guzzlers.
And lastly charliebravo comment. What do you mean combination? From the beginning they were to be maintianed as two seperate companies. There were no merger talks.
And to those comments whos name is Larry Kellner and Jim Ream. Why are you using CO and XE's CEO's as your name?
Seems like XJT and SkyWest want to grow over the "Regional" or "National" status. If they want to do thism they need the $$ and that takes investors. The quality is greater than the majors now due to the direct compation with RJET. Let's just hope none of them let Johnny O in the door to run.
Most of these comments are obviosly made by jokers that know a few names. I dont buy any of this!
ExpressJet has their own airline skywest wishes they could get their hands on that, not to mention XJet has 200+ Million in the bank skywest is broke...
I have only seen ExpressJet growing and nothing else. Why they would sell out to a little league like Skywest I do not know . . . . XE's customer service (to me anyway) has been outstanding, their customers have nothing but good things to say about them (at least the ones I talk to) and their fleet is -- well -- awesome (LOVE the ERJ-145's).
Disclaimer: This is just from my personal experience and encounters with XE as far as a customer's observation compared to flights on Skywest as well.
I forgot to add -- by "little league" I mean their quality of Customer Service. I know they are physically larger than Expressjet, but mentally they are smaller.
I'm surprised that you guys think so low of SkyWest. I've spoken to a lot of their employees and they don't see themselves progressing and by going on their own as EXPRESS JET was a wrong idea. These are coming from Express Jet employees themselves. We do talk in the van on the way to the hotel you know.
Well considering the absolute lies and falsehoods by some....
Expressjet.. In case you never noticed Skywest has a heck of a lot more $$$ then Expressjet. Further, If Expressjet doesn't change/sell out they may run out of cash by the end of the second quarter.
I love the mormon comments... But, Again a whole lotta non mormons at Skywest too...
Lastly, I think Expressjet lost the plot. It cannot survive independently any longer.
Lets all just cross our fingers and hope to "God" XJT D.B.A. Express Jet (branded) has the man power, resources, and financial "statue" to remain an fighting company with clout in the "regional" Airline Industry without COEX.
