I hope one day, whatever he feels in his heart regarding God's gifts of nature prevents him from slaughtering his inspirations.

Yeah I find it really odd that he is so inspired by these animals and then two seconds later he shoots them dead. I don't understand his thinking there.

I don't think we are supposed to hunt for sport. For food- yes, but for pleasure- not so much.

Jeremy Parker

May 26 Joseph Smith tells the men not to hurt the rattlesnakes they find, stating that "men must become harmless, before the brute creation; when men lose their vicious dispositions and cease to destroy the animal race, the lion and the lamb can dwell together, and the sucking child can play with the serpent in safety." Brethren carry the snakes out on sticks. Joseph tells them not to kill any animal on the trip unless it is absolutely necessary for food. Joseph then shoots a squirrel. The brethren decide to cook it and eat it so that it will not be wasted, and Joseph is glad they listened to his precept more than his example, "which was right."(HC 2:71-72.)

May 27 The angels of God go before the group. One man falls asleep on a rattlesnake but is not harmed. When others want to kill the rattlesnake, the man, Solomon Humphreys, says, "You shan't hurt him, for he and I had a good nap together." (HC 2:74.)

Great story! One of my favorite artists. I love his Notellum Ridge paintings.

Leon's work is exceptional. Without sportsman who hunt the wild animals of the west there would be no wild animals left. Man is given stewardship over the beasts of the field, and hunting has proven to be the only way to sustain our wildlife.

i hunt every year and not just for food if that was the only reason i hunted it would be easier to just buy a beef the reason most people hunt is for the sport and the thrill of the hunt plus it is a good way to grow closer to family. there aren't very many things that bring a father and a son together like chasing a big bull elk through the mountains of western wyoming plus it is a great way to get excercise. and yes i am a member of the church and this is just how i feel whether it be right or wrong

Thanks

Our family had the opportunity to visit the Rexburg Temple and see first had these marvelous paintings. They are beautiful. Thank you for the paintings.

To those who mock him for hunting and painting, GET A LIFE. The man can hunt and paint, he loves both, so GET OFF HIS BACK.

According to Mormon theology the day is coming when "they shall neither hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord" Significant changes in nature are an obvious prerequisite and Latter-Day Saints are supposed to be anxious for and preparing the world to recieve such. Those who choose this way of life now are just one good step ahead of the rest of us.

I had the privilege of helping Leon Parson hang the murals in the Rexburg Idaho Temple... The experience was breathe taking, and Leon is not only a amazing artist... but one of the nicest men you will ever meet. I was able to take volunteers that helped us clean on a tour of the temple... and share with them... along with Leon, the Spirit from our Father in Heaven. His hands were shown in Leon's work there in the Rexburg Temple. Thanks to Leon, I will forever remember those pecious moments while working there!
