This kid is going to be good. Just be patient and watch him. He's an all around ball player.

Expect more games like the one he played in Denver, where he was 4-of-8 from three-point range. Yes, he's been struggling, but like the article says, he'll get better as he becomes more comfortable with the system. When he has to do less thinking out there, and more of his moves are just instinctive, then it will allow him to focus more on his shots.

Go Korver! Go Jazz!
Brewer Beware | 8:59 a.m. Jan. 21, 2008
The glimpses I've scene in Denver of his shooting ability, and his unexpected defense, I think he may have Brewer's starting job by the end of the year.

I can't believe we actually got Korvar for Giricek! The draft pick might not mean anything. Enjoy the present man. I heard of how great a shooter he was in Philly and knew O'Conner made a brilliant move again which he has done often in the last 4 years. The thing is it spreads the floor. The more the Jazz spread the floor the more havoc they create for the other team. The Spurs are great at this and if the Jazz can learn to spread the floor well they will be much more difficult to beat.

my new favorite player. whats not to like!
TheHailstorm | 9:47 a.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Philly has been great to us, didn't they trade us strait up for Fesenko ?
We may have to keep an eye on the 76 s drafts and players.
I didn't like Gireck from the begining and was really surprised when they extended the contract. Korver seems like he has the extra desire to hustle. He'll give us honest minutes,
BBall Fan | 10:05 a.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Did Philly extend Giricek's contract or was the above referring to when the Jazz extended his last contract? I would be shocked in Phily extended anything beyond this year to Giricek. I haven't followed him at all since he left - anybody know how he's been doing, how much he's been playing etc ?

I met Corver in Denver the other night, one thing I learned from him, is this guy hates to lose!! I think he brings an edge this team lost with Fischer. What a great guy.

i have liked korver since he was on the sixers. He was my go-to shooter on NBA live over the years. ha ha. and always good on fantasy teams. anyway, he's a class act and fits in perfectly with the rest of the jazz.

Let me get this straight......the 76'r play mono repetitions, stand in one spot? but yet the SlowN system is SO much better? BUCKLEY ,is this the drift of your comments, article?

Thinking? No, knowing, hope Kyle, WILL be doing OK !
It's the system, BUCKLEY there's to much sugar in your frosting. The whole world knows the SlowN system and see it coming three play's ahead of it actually happening.

SlowN's comments are again self serving, as like , Ohhh , look at my system ,I've used iit for twenty plus years . Just run the floor hard you'll catch on some little bit!

As for who's in the dog house ? That's already been set up by SlowN , Bet on it,it's going to be Ronnie Brewer .SlowN 's been working that one for over a week already.

Reason? Is it not odd,(not really) that there are several player that miss defensive plays time in time out,SlowN does nothing, sits there as UHHHUUUUU DHUUUU..... But Brewer, missed one play, and the farmer went balistic on him, with the whole world watching it on television.

Oh , I know SlowN has the right to do that!
WHY NOT THE OTHERS ?
Ross Burton | 12:21 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Korver is awesome. I'm glad we have him.
Steve Kelly | 12:23 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Korver is fitting in pretty well.

Something has got to be done regarding our front court players, and the defense they play. So here is my plan that is sure to find alot of disagreement. I would make a trade if possible with Washington. Memo & Booz, and possibly one of our many 2's for Jamison(expiring contract) and Haywood. We have plenty of offense, especially if we get away from the two-man game, so that part of the trade wouldn't hurt. Haywood and Jamison are both good defenders and can rebound and have several years to play yet. Just my thought fans don't go ballistic on me.

RE: Ol'Pro

What a lousy post--talk about nonsensical jibberish!!

You are right about 1 thing though that I was able to decipher and that was the consistency of Sloans offense only your conclusion was totally false.

You forgot to explain though why the Jazz consistently have one of the top 3 FG% in the league if our offense is so predictable? Why can' teams stop it? Why do the Jazz have one of the top 5 scoring offenses in the whole league this year?

It would be even better if the players would listen and do what they were told. If the players were not lazy and soft and bothered to play a lick of D on the road we would have one of the best records in the league this year.

Please keep your comments on something that has some validity instead of spewing your misplaced Sloan hatred.
RE: concerned | 1:49 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
I thought we wanted to be a championship contender? Look at the Timber Wolves. That would be the Jazz if your trade went through
Ol'pro | 3:12 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
@ moto X , why don't you just climb up on your putt-putt and take your post, examine what you are referring too.

Appearantly ,you can not differenciate that it's not about FG%, instead of the columist's JIBBERISCH!

That it was,the COLUMIST throwing to much frosting on the Jazz offensive system.(not saying anything about FG%)But the reason for good to excellent FG% is not the system,it's the talent shooting the ball, irregardless what the system presents it self to be!

You have NEVER seen me ridicule,critique,criti-cized the players,DEAR BOY . So why don't you go ride your MOTO X,learn how to read and decipfer your OWN SPEWING.

SlowN has been on this horse, for over 20 years and the swayback mare is not getting it.(oh that's SlowN JIBBERISCH )SAVVY ?

HATRED ? No dear boy , that's not hatred. It's called displeasure ,4.5 million worth ! SAVVY once more ?

POINT was, the writer of the ARTICLE.Him making it out to be, the 76'r system as being a two man play and going to one spot on the floor .

Does'nt that sort of resemble SlowN's system ?

Oh , just run the floor some little bit .
RE: Ol'Pro | 4:18 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Maybe you do know what your talking about, but nobody else does.... If you are going to bash on the columnist or on Sloan, at least learn english first.

From what I gather, you're not bashing on the article, but on Sloan and his system. Moto X hit it right on the head. Sloan's system has been around for a while, but it's proven to work and it's still working! The Jazz have picked up the pace and Sloan has evolved to fit his players talents. Sloan never let Horny shoot 3's at, but look at how many 3's Korver and Memo put up in the same game. Sloan's doing an excellent job of running plays to get his team open shots where they can make them. That's why his system works and will continue to work.
PH Carpenter | 4:40 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Korver hit three 3's today. He also had a slam dunk. I like him.
J Alder | 4:41 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Go Korver. Go Jazz.
Sixers fan | 5:41 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
I have followed Kyle's career since he was a rookie for the Sixers. The Jazz are very lucky to have him on their team because he's a gem. Kyle's an all-around good guy and plays with a lot of heart. Enjoy him, Utah; he'll play hard for you every night.

Go Kyle! You have fans in Philly who will follow you wherever you go.

P.S. Giricek's a slug.
Ol'pro | 6:14 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Oh geeze, poor RE: why is it you do not state who you are ! RE: ? And PLEASE, let me know what you did not understand. "AT LEAST LEARN ENGLISH" . Structure , grammar , Which is it ? I am not as professional as Mr Buckley of course.

It sounds as though you are one of those holier than thou, type of individuals !

So SORRY dear boy, but it happens to be,English is my fourth language. Of course, I can not speak out of both sides of my mouth, as you do .

The "some little bit" and other "little some" catch words, are one's that are being used by none other than your coach SlowN ,the 4.5 million farmer, the one you're defending so strongly!
Of course I can see clearly, you do not understand SARCASM nor see it when your reading it.

However, it's nice to see a type as you, do understand the drift of the meanings , otherwise you would not have responded. RIGHT !

With this, I can not help but wonder, did you get your poor little tootsies stepped on.

TRUTH ? Some times it's not looked upon with kindness!

My main concern is whether Coach Sloan will be able to find enough minutes for his players(Brewer,Miles,
Korver,Almond,etc)To keep everybody happy.
defending ol'pro | 6:20 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Some of his post is jibberish, but the one comment about Sloan's doghouse is right on. I also noticed during the Nugget's game that Brewer got chewed on for a blown play defensively. I don't mind that if Sloan spreads it around. The problem, though, is that I've never seen Sloan go after Boozer, Okur, or Williams like that and they've all been playing much worse defense this year than Brewer.

Brewer's one of the few guys that actually tries to play good, hard defense consistently. He's still learning, however, and occasionally makes a mistake. Boozer and Okur's mistakes just come because they're lazy. They should get yelled at even more, but don't.

I heard during the game today that a columnist referred to the Jazz as the softest team in the league. He hit the nail on the head. Outside of Harpring and Korver the Jazz are totally soft. What's up with Kleiza putting his knee into Korver's back and no one on our team has the decency to defend their team-mate. What a bunch of pansies. At least Malone knew how to stand up for his team. (Also, why that wasn't a technical was beyond me).
S Ward | 6:36 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Yeah Why didn't someone defend Korver. What a bunch of wimps. Where have all the tough guys gone. Sign PJ Brown O'connel. I hear he wants to play.
Lenny Kravits | 7:09 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Korver is a stud! Jazz are rolling with Korver in the line-up.
Ellen Degeneris | 7:11 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
I Love the Korv man. He can shoot the long ball or take it to the hole. Go Korvy!
Merv Griffin | 7:14 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Jazz bench is looking better with Harpring & Korver. Watch out Nugs and Blazers.
Brady Bunch | 7:15 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Jazz will be a four or five seed in the playoffs.
Whitney Houston | 7:18 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Jazz look to be back on track. I still think the need a big defender though.
Anonymous | 8:29 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Korver is a fantastic addition. He is a Jazz player and we are lucky to have him. Unfortunately, his addition means someone's loss. Hopefully, it's just a loss of playing time, but the Jazz might want to look at another scenario that might call for a trade.

The addition of Korver and the upgraded health of Harpring brings a lot of strain on the SG and SF positions in term of playing time. Financially, his addition will bring tons of strain in 2009 if the Jazz bring back Williams and Millsap to anticipated contracts.

My solution - trade AK and 2 2nd rounders to Minnesota for Theo Ratliff and Mark Madsen. That would strengthen the front court in terms of defense and we would be a lot richer when Ratliff's $11.6 million comes off the books next year. We would miss AK, but his contract kills us the next few years. With the ability to play a combo of Harpring, Korver, Brewer, Miles and Millsap at the 3, the Jazz would find a way to keep going.

Let me know what you think...
Ace | 8:34 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Korver is one of the best wings the Jazz have ever had. (Griff, J. Malone, Horny, Blue Etwards, Brewer and Korver).
amsurfer | 8:52 p.m. Jan. 21, 2008
Ol'pro-dude no offense, but save it. Is this as good as it gets for you? The Jazz will be fine. I love Korver, always have. He will be a great addition to the Jazz; Brewer, better step up the game my friend. Hey all you Jazz gurus, is it just me or is Boozer slipping a little. His game has not been sharp the past two weeks; I am very concerned for it seems he only excels against other teams scrubs. I love Booz, just really concerned right now with his horrible defense and is slipping offensive numbers. Help ease my feeble little brain with this. Go Jazz..........
Jon P | 10:38 a.m. Jan. 22, 2008
Jazz work great with Korver and Brewer. Sure they both only play two quaters a game but this helps keep them rested and a step ahead of their opponents. I don't see Brewer loosing the starting position. His extreme athletism has lead to him having two Play of the Game's in a row. Korver will continue playing the second and forth quaters. Jazz need him in the forth and couldn't ask for a more reliable free throw shooter. Yesterday was the first time I've seen Jazz with three people on the court who are capable of making 3's (Korver, Miles, Okur), what a refreshing change!
Sam on Korver, Misc | 12:24 p.m. Jan. 22, 2008
Korver has passion, brains, and ability. What a major coup on the Sixers front office.

Booz and Okur played a bit more defense last night, but it is still sorely lacking relative to where it should be. I quote George Karl, "The Jazz have slow feet." Those slow feet begin with Booz and Memo.

Ronnie minutes aren't going anywhere. His athletic prowess is a perfect complement to Korver's floor-spreading impact. It forces opponents to change defensive schemes on the RB/KK switch - which is nearly always a positive for the remaining four guys.

Assuming all stay healthy, which is likely a horrible assumption, the Jazz have a lot of trade value presently. KOC will most certainly balance those too issues with the deadline quickly approaching. I foresee the status quo.

The Jazz look good to go given a very large assumption --> they come with passion and focus every night. They beat the Clips, but still didn't take care of the ball. The TO's were a bit alarming. An elite team will pound the Jazz by 20 if they continue to give-up the ball like that.

Go Jazz!!!
Ralph | 5:41 p.m. Jan. 22, 2008
Korver was the only guy against Denver last week that stepped up to defend, ummm, what's his name Kleiza(?) the guy we gave 41 points to... ??? Anyway, Korver made a clean, but hard foul, and bodied him up the next time down the floor. The Denver fans didn't like it, wanted a "T", but that was because nobody had defended the guy all night. Kleiza only made a couple of buckets after that. Korver may be billed as a 3-point guy, but he also showed he has some moxy--unlike our big guys who couldn't get out of Klieza's way fast enough!! Anyway, I like Korver alot. Give him more minutes!!!
Philadelphia Fan | 6:17 p.m. Jan. 22, 2008
Kyle is missed. He was our only pure shooter after we lost A.I. and the kid played hard every night. It's stinks we gave him away for a player who won't even be on the team next year. The Sixers are hurting now but have some good young talent that might eventually grow and Korver would have been a big part of that. I'm a die hard Philly fan but just like Denver gained a fan when they got A.I., I'll be pulling for the Jazz now.

Best Kyle highlight was the last second 3 balls in the Sixers/Celtics triple overtime. One of the best games I was ever at with my son. Feed him the ball and he'll drain the three.

You gave the Sixer's fans many highlights and I'm sure you will do the same for the Jazz fans. Good Luck, Kyle.
Jazzman | 9:34 a.m. Jan. 23, 2008
With Korver now on the team, Okur needs to play down in the post and defend and rebound on the defensive end. If Okur can't cut it as a defender, then the Jazz need to trade him. I would say trade him for Dalembert, but I don't know if Philly would make another trade with us. Another option is Mohammed, but the Bobcats might not want to trade him. The Jazz drafted Mohammed, they should have hung on to him when they drafted him. It won't be easy finding a team willing to take Okur in a trade, the Jazz might be able to get Mohammed in exchange for Kirilenko, but trading AK is a risky venture. How about Okur, Collins, and Ronnie Price for Mohammed? I don't know if the Bobcats would want to make that deal.
