Why Mitt Won't Win | 8:32 p.m. Jan. 20, 2008
Sad, but true..for all the reasons non-Mormons are discriminated against in Utah
for their religion, Mitt will not get the nomination due to his. As a
non-mormon, I sympthize with Mitt and I could vote for him due to his positions
and vision, this is the striking irony. Yet, many Mormons, especially in
employment situations do discriminate here in Utah..not all certainly. Their is
a lesson to be learned..shall we call it humility? When one religion gathers an
arrogant point of view, it becomes narrow and blind to contradictory ideas, and
as a result, is limited in thinking and vision. The big world is a different
place, and it is unfortunate that the reputation of the Mormon faith is akin to
a disease with Mitt Romney. Perhaps the Mormon leadership should quickly
recognize that they need to change their ways in utah and separate itself from
the public discourse.

Mitt will never win a national election. He still thinks that the only important
vote is the mormon white vote. He never reaches out to people of color. This
will be his un-doing as he goes on thru the election.

any stance against abortion is purely individual matter
and decision to kill an innocent person like a baby depends on the individual's understanding of human creation which must rank above all challenges in life. the issue is not merely about legislature and opinions, its about love and religious values.the media and some evangelicals may hate us and bash ,even law-abiding-good person like MITT ROMNEY.What matter's most to me is the record of proud history and bright future that is most essential we have over 170years of success in all aspects of life,its time for that glory to be restored to the American people and the whole world.

We should not worry about the religion and look at who has the smarts and
experience to turn the country around to doing well in all areas. No candidate
is better prepared than Mitt Romney. Track records are hard to hide. Everything
he has done has turned out well and much better than he found it. Can any other
candidate match that? I haven't seen one. If Mitt were not any religion but
lived like he does and accomplished what he has every person would admire him
and most republicans and many dems would support him. It is just easy to beat
someone up for religion. It's more profitable to look at the way the person
lives and and the principles they stand for and what their lives are like. If
they model your values then vote that way and if we did only that I think Mitt
would be a stand out. But too many don't so we have the low hanging
criticisms that are inflamitory and emotional but not very sensible. Look at he
records and vote your conscience not religion. If we did that I think Mitt would
win.

Huckster and his actor buddy Chuck are two of the most hypocritical sly guys in
politics. Calling John McCain too old is an ageist comment. Their comments about
Mormons are also biggoted.

Am I voting for Romney because he's Mormon? Maybe. It's in his
favor. But that's not enough to get my vote. Harry Reed is Mormon and I
wouldn't ever vote for him. The fact is, Romney has a lot in his favor as
far as getting my vote. He's Republican, he's a successful
businessman, he's smart, he's a problem solver, he reflects my values,
and I agree with him on many of the issues. Can't say that much about the
other candidates.

Dont look now but Ron Paul is raising money like crazy! I guess helmet head
will have to break out the check book again. You'll have to go online to
see it because I'm pretty sure the MSM won't mention it. 123K. in two

Come on folks, The Nevada Entrance poll show 95% of those LDS who voted as
republican, voted for Mitt. about 10,000 LDS voted Republican. About 4,000
voted for a Democratic candidate. Amazing, 40% voted Democrat.
Mitt also won by such a wide margin, that if NO LDS had voted, he would have still won.

Mitt is the ONLY one in this race who I can really support and be excited about
changing America for the best! We need more than "changing seat"
candidates and what they have not accomplished. Please give Mitt (who actually
has a record of "changing things for the better" and actually gets the
job done) the chance. It will be our great loss America to not have him. The
Democrats will make this a "welfare" nation, etc. in worse shape than
we are in now with this economy issue,etc. McCain is NOT my inspiration
candidate. Mitt's incredible ability to make "solutions to
problems" and his brilliance is what we need to help our country. Has
anyone actually seen this man's credentials and amazing degrees. No one
compares to his mind and articulacy either. The others use prompters &
speeches to read. Mitt's a "Great American" who just wants to
help serve our country and help all of us and our families. Please give him the
chance! We need his positive-uplifting hope and vision.

I just don't know why Mitt left SC. I guess when the going gets tough, the
Mitt retreats. He must of learned that maneuver during his mission to France.
I wonder if he starts doing bad in Florida if he will just retreat from there
too and campain in Utah.

I am LDS and I am voting for Ron Paul. The only true candidate who I can feel
good about giving my sacred vote to. Isolationist? So was George Washington.
He warned the USA to stay away from entangling alliances. This war is
bankrupting the United States and we will be in sore trouble when it does. You
should all understand the problems created at Jekyle Island in the early
1900's. Do some serious research people. You need to understand the real
issues at home in the US. God Bless America. and Vote for Ron Paul. Our only
real hope!

Please remember back to when you learned about delegates, most people learned
about it in 8th or 9th grade. If needs be look at a site like cnn check which
state gives out delegates and how (remember each state can give then out
differently) it will help you understand! It also has to do with math!! With the
logic that you are using it would make Giuliani the biggest guy with no
backbone. (He has ran away from every state except Florida)

The Democrats - who have won Governor and US Senate races in Wyoming, MOntana,
Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona recently, realize the West is the New Gateway
to the Whitehouse, thus changed the Nevada caucus to early in the Race and will
hold their convention in Colorado.
The Republicans of old - McCain, etc can't seem to understand the change of the guard, and have forgotten the west, thus the Democrats are wining now.
The anti Mitt media should have MADE a BIG story about McCain loosing his backyard votes - Wyoming and Nevada to Governor Romney.
And finally, if the Republicans and their forget the west and we hate Mormon candidates are not smart, the West, and a lot of Mormons just might put a Democrate in the Whitehouse and send a little message to the bigots in the south who think they own the Republican party

Although George Washington was an isolationist, hopefully you're not
analyzing the nation's problems from a 1790s perspective. Indeed much has
changed in the last 210 years. Check it out sometime.

Furthermore, I assume you don't know who else is supporting your hallowed
candidate- great Americans David Duke and Don Black among others. Instead of
denouncing their support, Dr. Paul has graciously accepted it. One last thing,
would you prefer our troops fighting jihadists in A) Afghanistan, or B) Arizona?

It's not about courage, it's about strategy. You might have decided
to stay in SC, Romney did not. So what? It's his campaign, not yours. As
I always told my mother, there's more than one way to fold a bath towel.
It used to drive her nuts that I'd fold my towels in half, then in half
again; she always folded them in half, then in thirds. In the end the job got
done, the towels got folded and put away, they smelled just as fresh, they
looked just as neat and fit just as well in the linen closet.

I am a Mormon who grows increasingly sick of all her fellow "good
Mormon's" hate-mongering attitudes, calling others "stupid",
"clueless", etc. It isn't Christlike and serves no purpose other
than driving a wedge further between Mormons and people who aren't of our
faith. You know all of this bashing isn't changing anyone's opinion.
Take the higher ground for a change.

Obama has some positives. He is nice and has good intentions, but he strikes me
as somewhat naive and very inexperienced. I believe a presidency with Obama
would be destined for failure.
On the other hand, Clinton is not nice and does not have good intentions. She has experience, but she does not have the capacity to bring people together. She's too polarizing and a Clinton presidency would be an unending ordeal for everyone.
John Edwards is the only democrat I could see myself possibly voting for, but he's barely a blip on the radar so...
Huckabee is interesting. There are days I am impressed by his thoughtful ideas. He seems well-spoken and articulate, then other days I wonder what he is smoking. On those days he seems unprofessional and in a daze.
McCain is a good man. He is courageous and principled but the presidency requires a level head. He is a little too reactionary for my taste.
Romney is the only Republican I could see myself voting for. He's a problem solver with a track record for changing the course of "titanics".
An election between Romney and Edwards would spark my interest.

Your math insult is juvenile and pathetic. Here are some numbers for you. Out
of the three states Mitt won, two were uncontested and the 1 he won was his home
state. I mean Nevada? Wow he really pulled that one out, what a tuff battle.
What a great leader, instead of confronting his opponents and proving he is the
better man for the job he runs to a state that is uncontested and that he can
easily win. That is the type of leader I want to run our country, the one who
tries to take the easy road.
Delegate count this early is irrelevant, there are still around 45 states left. Whoever leads after Super Tues has something to brag about.
I am not sure if Rudy is coward or an idiot. Will have to see how his strategy plays out.

Strategy? Well if you call picking up the scraps after the big dogs battle a
good strategy then more power to you. In case you forgot Mitt is trying to win
the nomination to be able to run for President, the Commander and Chief of our
military. If he doesn't have the stomach to prove he is the right man for
the job than he has no place in this election.
Trying to back door your way into office is just poor leadership and really shows his charcter or lack there of. Will be interesting to see what states he goes after for Super Tues. I am pretty sure he will greedily try to mop up the leftovers there too.

In all this rhetoric, I have yet to read a comment on the importance of
remaining a nation with a foundation in freedom. A nation which enables its
people to work hard at a job of their choosing and improve the quality of life.
The danger signs are all around us, yet so many retreat to their small bubble in
the world and worry only about themselves.
In the coming primaries, political party conventions, and the general election in November, we might ask ourselves: WHO WILL LEAD THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN PRESERVING OUR CHERISHED FREEDOMS? For if our nation is not strong enough to resist a takeover (military, political, or economic) the remainder of the issues will not matter.

Frank, you bring up an excellent point! The LDS in the U.S. only make up 2% of
the population, so if you think only Mormons will vote for him, what are you
worried about? Why do you even care? Why don't you just let him spend his
money and laugh quietly to yourself because you are so smart? Come super Tuesday
we will see if more than the Mormon population is willing to vote for Romney. I
have a sneaky suspicion you will be made to look the fool.
