According to this news report, Mitt called the economy "somewhat fragile" That is like using the phrase, "partially pregnant." It is a cop out phrase for the weak. Either the economy is fragile or it isn't. But maybe we should excuse Mitt for this because he is in a conundrum. He supports the president all the way, has said so time and time again. He wants those 25% of the pop. who can see no wrong with bush and the last 7 years of ... yee gads, Mitt can't even decide if waterboarding is wrong. He is bush bush bush. BUT the economy is tanking, falling, and even the President has finally said so. Thus, taking his cue from Bush, Mitt can now mention that the economy is "somewhat fragile." Mitt with vision mission and leadership, will now present his own plan to cure a problem that a month ago he ignored (except when pandering to Michiganders).

Yah gotta love the guy. He says this in sin state, Nevada, where the economy is built on gambling, greed, excesses, fun, pleasure, booze, etc. He never spoke out on those obvious things. What happened to his high standards and truthfulness? Hmmmmm.

The Deseret News is not covering any other candidate but Mitt Romney. In order to be informed local citizens we also need coverage of the other candidates, PLEASE!

The economy is being driver by the advances in communications, world competition, computers and advantages that they bring to bear on the ability to manage, invest, and more importantly, design and then bring products like cars and equipment to the marketplace. The economy can handle more stimulation without entering a period of inflation/recession. Speculation in the energy sector is what is behind the current financial problems. We need to build more reactors and refineries. There is no shortage of fossil fuel. Again technological has allows us to more efficiently find and recovery oil. Let me see? McCain and Thompson are for recession and Mitt wants us to prosper. Hmm? Who should I vote for? I think I'll vote for Romney! Go Romney. It's time for Romney. Chose sanity! Vote for Mitt!

I am confused? Everybody wants to blame the current financial problems on the collapse of the subprime market. The real problem is the liberals who are preventing the US from build nuclear reactors and a least another dozen oil refineries. The world can pump out goods and services faster and more efficiently than ever thought possible, so inflation is not ever going to be a problem is we can get energy cost under control. I think a immediate stimulus package and the threat of a recession, will slow down speculation in the oil market. The cost of a barrel of oil will fall to under $60 by summer and prices at the pump should fall to under $2 a gallon. A short term stimulus package that can put $300 to $500 in the pocket of every tax payer will push the Dow to over 20,000 by years end.

Mitt is gaining momentum among the people, the media, and his opponents. He is distancing himself by strong values and legitamate economic intelligence. Mitt is going to win.

Every makes light of Mitt Romney's extensive U turn history. My guess is he is not more prone to U-turns than any other politician. I say this for this reason. He chose to run for govenor in a very liberal state, then he chose to run in the Republican Primaries. Any politician to get elected who chose these two courses would have to make extensive U-turns or not get elected.

All canidates do this and there is a cure, probably not one that will get adopted though. There is a new type of lie detector test that us unbeatable, that uses brain waves. (look up on Google). We could require all canidates to submit to a battery of questions while being monitored by this lie detector test.

I wish they would interview a Mitt voter that wasn't LDS. If all the people that vote for Mitt are LDS than the LDS church is under exaggerating their numbers.

Memo to Nevada:

Mitt Romney is head and shoulders above all the candidates in the field, both sides of the aisle. He has the the ideas and the intelligence to implement them. All of us need to support him. He is the man for the job!!!

It's easy to see why Mitt was so successful in the business world. He is looking at the items that are important. He sees the changes that need to be made by Goverment just like business do. The other candidates spend too much time trying to run him down. They are afraid of the facts and His experience. He is what is neede NOW.
Mitt is an embarrassment | 9:59 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
The lobbyists who have endorsed Romney have represented, in 2007 alone, nearly every part of the health care and financial services industries, the NRA, members of the tobacco industry, and gambling interests. Romney has accepted the second most money from lobbyists of any Republican presidential candidate, and has received the most endorsements from lobbyists.

Are there any other LDS out there that see Mitt taking money from tobacco and gambling lobbyists as a BIG problem?
Is Mitt really a MORMON? | 10:05 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
Mitt takes money from gambling and tobacco lobbyists. Which makes Las Vegas the perfect place for a hypocrite to add to his account. Mitt is a terrible representative of the honest and genuine LDS people I know.

Nevada has more delegates than South Carolina
Nevada has less competition than South Carolina
Looks like it's a no-brainer for Mitt to spend more time in Nevada. Not to mention the higher concentration of LDS voters :)
Mitt on Leno | 10:24 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
Mitt will not only be a great president. He will be a charming president. Did you catch him on Leno last night. Leno, to his credit, didn't play gotcha but let Mitt reveal his true character, that of a warm, sincere, savvy, determined presidential candidate. His every word and action belied the accusation by some that he is arrogant. He is self-confident. Don't confuse the two. Go, Mitt, you're the man!
I'm a Mitt Romney Supporter | 10:34 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
Just like the scripture says: "By their fruits ye shall know them" . Russ: --- it's easy to sit on the side lines and complain about what good is happening in the world, But try to duplicate some of that good into your own life by giving credit where credit is due. Mitt Romney has a record that is quite different (in a possitive way) than that of most candidates running for President. With our economy slipping and not control over our borders we need someone like him to step up to the plate and put some of his practical business and leadership know-how to work. Go Mitt!!!! You're doing a great job!
Go Mitt! | 10:50 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
You're our only true hope for a better America. Mitt for President 2008. Keep it up! Good luck in NV! Everyone vote for Mitt!
Andy Neilson | 10:54 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
Mitt Romney is incredibly popular in Utah. Why is there so little coverage on his campaign?
memikeyounot | 10:57 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
I live in Nevada, and Mitt has barely made a blip on the radar here, but I think he will win the Repub caucuses here due to the preponderance of Mormons(at least in Clark County.) I'd sure like the DNews to cover someone else.

Results from my precinct in Las Vegas:

Romney = 31
Huckabee = 8
Paul = 7
McCain = 1
Guiliani = 1
Thompson = 0

The only other precinct I saw had....

Romney = 13
Thompson = 12

the rest were all lower....

It's not even noon yet and Romney has won. Another big win but no one will cover except for Utah news - Arizona news never talks about Romney only McCain.
Finally | 11:27 a.m. Jan. 19, 2008
I seriouly cannot even see how anyone could vote for anyone but Romney. He is by far the best canidate in EVERY WAY. The guy is amazing.

I was a witness to Mitt's saving of the 2002 Winter Olympics. With the economy in trouble, Mitt is the only real candidate out there that has the experience to do something about it.

Best news article recently about Mittney: Check out "the onion" online and the story "romney defends himself against allegations of tolerance".
Re: DMN Mitt Coverage | 12:36 p.m. Jan. 19, 2008
Why don't you whiners who keep clamoring for the Deseret News to cover other candidates look to the Salt Lake Tribune for your coverage. The Tribune has moved so far to the left that I'm sure it will give you the anti-Mitt, biased coverage you are looking for. That should please everyone--the whiners and those who seek a level playing field.
Paul | 12:54 p.m. Jan. 19, 2008
I support Romney for President because he has the best leadership and economic qualities out of all the candidates for U.S. preident. Romney will win Nevada easy, good luck Mitt, behind you all the way.
