This will be a good test for the jazz. A must win.

Bob

Please don't tell us about Jarron's political affiliations. I want so badly to like him.

J in NY

I like John Hollinger's idea of playing small (it would maximize AK's talent, which is something that has not happened since he was an all-star), but who would the Jazz get for Okur? He is not playing well right now, so his value is down. If you are going to trade a guy, you want to do it when his value is at its peak.

amen to that Bob

I've never really liked Collins. Now I know why. Hillary clinton.....Please

Huh

Okay, OKur is struggling right now but so is AK and AK is injured. Doesn't make any sense at all. Besides why do we need to trade Okur to do this anyway. If AK was healthy and Okur continued to struggle you culd still do this and not give up Okur for nothing and the last thing we need is another 3 or 2 to start in front of Korver. That being said I think Okur has played a little better the last couple of games. If it helps AK do it especially if Okur is struggling.

Really Dislike Collins Now

My nickname for Collins was DBC (Death By Collins) due to his knack for killing the momentum or the Jazz' chances for a win. Now I need to change his nickname to DBD- that means "Gullable, bandwagon democrat". Any respect I had for him prior is no gone.

to play or not to play

I think that it is very interesting that so many players on our current roster continue to miss games due to every little ache or pain, hang-nail,or runny nose. If Stockton and Malone would have been that soft in their day the Jazz would have never accomplished all that they did. It's time to toughen up and play through a little bit of pain. Go Jazz!!!

Donna

I think, if you want to make remark's about the player's, then you should leave out there voting rights and keep your nasty remarks to your self, what they do in there private life is there own business, not every one else's, it is funny how all you fan's can talk but when they do some thing good, then he is the greatest, if you are a jazz fan then be one, other wise stay out of there business.

Collins hater

How low can a player get?

Anonymous

Donna I agree with you 100%.

Wow

Just when I thought I couldn't dislike Collins more this proves that the there is no floor for Collins hatred. I just puked a little when I read that.

Team Player

I agree with Bob. I neither need nor want to know about any player's political beliefs or activities. It seems that including that stuff about Collins in this article was just an invitation by the writer for controversy and non-sports related commentary. Lets keep Jazz articles about the Jazz huh?
I hope that somehow Kirilenko's back gets enough better throughout the day today for him to play tonight. He absolutely shines like the sun when he plays against the suns! Go Jazz!

Go Red

If some of you peeps think you want to respond to a players political lives I guess you have a protected right, but is it morally right? If so I guess I have a right to ask what you think of the republican candidate with strong Utah ties, and Utah being the reddest state in the union, being trashed by the Republican party and national media? How does that taste? Do you still want to vote and donate to the big Red Party? How much more are they going to slam your religion before you get it? Now you see who the real people are, that your past loyalties have went too. Wake up.

Bomar

Donna, your right, Collins politics don't matter, but his contribution to the team, or lack thereof does. When was the last time that Jaron actually made a difference in a game? Arujo would contribute as an enforcer, which would actually help the team.

JRC

I think Collins' decision to donate to a presidential campaign is commendable, and speaks well of him -- regardless of his choice of candidates. He's behaving as a responsible member of the community. Furthermore, there certainly is nothing unique about NBA players becoming involved in politics. Bill Bradley, who played for the Knicks, served as a U.S. Senator from New Jersey. Tom McMillan, who played for several teams, served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland. And the late congressman from Arizona, Morris Udall, played for the Denver Nuggest of the old National Basketball League.

Collins is a competent baskball player who is a good fit with the Jazz. He's also an intelligent man who has a bright future in the field that he pursues after he retires from the NBA.

M. Lewinsky

Fellas, fellas.
Collins was just making a contribution to Hillycare in the hopes that her program could keep AK healthy because he is tired of being called upon to play defense when AK is injured.

Sokol

Wait till that anti male, anti father Sillary takes over...All of us men better sleep with one eye open..
and be prepared to bribe a judge to see your kids..its the American way...Collins will be crying later over this....

Collins is OK

Collins is no superstar but he brings some things to the game that apparently go unnoticed by many. He draws fouls and defends, makes an occational shot from 8-10ft out, bothers insiders on defense to the point of distraction, and uses his fouls. He may flop but it works often enough to get turnover opportunities the team. Off court he is well-mannered, articulate, avoids ostentatious "body art" and doesn't act "street". He's good for the team.

to donna, et al.

The player's personal lives should be just that, but if the newspaper feels that it's a newsworthy item to publish that tidbit then fans have the right to comment about it. Maybe the press should leave it alone.

Also- what gives athletes, musicians, or movie stars the right to bad mouth political figures any more than the fans have the right to bad mouth others here. It all rolls downhill. If the so-called role models for our society think that it's ok to sell their opinions as propoganda, then before long regular commentors on the DNews are going to get into it as well. Personal lives should be just that- personal (starting at the top).

BTW, this says a few things about David Stern as well and the direction of the NBA today.
