Sorry Mitty | 1:05 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Ahhh shucks, golly gee. He still doesn't have a prayer. He's proven over and over that he's committed to nothing...except the views of whatever audience he's with.
Romlame | 1:11 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Darn. Isn't that short for a swear word? Next Romney will be using "heck" and maybe even "Oh my gosh." That's it, I'm voting for Obama.

I can't take the suspense I need to know who is winning.

There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. I think Romney is riding that line.
Re: Sorry Mitty, Romlame | 1:54 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Get over yourselves, Romney is a good candidate and that should be the real issue. Anyone who can't leave religion out of this has no business commenting in the political world.
Barb V. | 1:58 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
I wonder how many Iowa Huckabee votes would be aborted if they had known that he does not oppose the Birthright Citizenship of illegal alien's children? Ooops! Huckabee's toast. Press one to get real-world message from middle class blue collar citizens. Warning: message may be too colorful for oversensitive souls.
Michael | 2:08 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
After following the debates for both parties on CNN I feel that we have very few qualified candidates. Romney is confident but if he doesn't believe in himself, how can he encourage and motivate others to do the same.
Smart Man | 2:11 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Mitt will win New Hampshire. Of course one has to define win. If you check the literature and any dictionary, you will find that if he comes in second or third, he still has won, in the metaphorical sense. It just depends on your literature, frame of mind, and rationale.
Judd | 2:16 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Just for the record I could care less what you guys think of Mitt. I also do not like you condsending attitudes. I also do not like your smart comments & snide remarks.
Charles | 2:18 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
It sounds like the full contingent of Utah Dems are commenting today. The only person who acted presidential on Sunday's debate was Romney and people are responding to it. It will be interesting to see how it plays out today.
President | 2:19 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Mr Romney is....
A phenomenal leader
A terrific business person
A great idea man
A man who will change his mind when he is convinced that his opinion is in error...
Need I say more.
Mitt for President.
Anonymous | 2:23 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
You know that some commentors on this board are worried if they are focusing on the fact that Romney doesn't swear! Maybe he's just too 'good' for you to support.
ryan | 2:25 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
It is not a "fact" that Romney could beat Obama in a general election, since Romney has never run against Obama. At best it is a supposition made by Romney.

The writer should keep her "facts" straight.
Arm of Orion | 2:26 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Gee willikers people are rude why can't we just feel proud of someone who can actually get this far in America with wishing to see how far they can fall. That's right I'm talkin to the first two posters

Actually Mitt has a very colorful vocabulary. Recall his berating of a poor parking attendant during the Olympics. Maybe he was just crafting his message to the audience again.

I think some people don't like to see GOOD people succeed. Misery loves company.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
Thank you Mitt for doing GOOD!
george | 2:49 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
who writes this stuff - the Romney campaign?

How about some unbiased reporting rather than trying to build up a lame candidate.
john | 3:09 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
I have been appalled at the negative attacks on Governor Romney, who, in my opinion, is a man of character and integrity, and the only Republican candidate capable of bringing about change in Washington. I applaud the fact that he has been willing to admit that he has been wrong on issues in the past and has changed his position accordingly. I know few people who have not changed their minds on issues over time, were they willing to admit it. It is a shame that Mike huckabee and his supporters in their blind religious bigotry and intolerance for a man who is a Christian, but no their brand of Christian could cost the people of the United States the only viable candidate capable of defeating Democratic hopefuls in the general election.
Ya...sure | 3:17 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Darn? Mitt had no problem filling the air with obscenities in the video were his car was blocked during the Winter Games.
RE: george | 3:17 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
That's right, george. How about some unbiased commentary instead of your lame one.

It's called a contradictory statement.

A very nice!!! LOL...
Utah Mad Mike | 3:48 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
I met Mitt years ago at a volunteer Olympic training session. He came into the crowd and shook the hands of everyone there. I was quite impressed. Dont forget what he did for the Olympics and Massachusetts; turning both around despite opposition and difficult circumstances. Mitt earned my vote many years ago. Good luck Mitt!
Wayne Perry | 3:48 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Should he not be addressed as the former governor, is there not a new governor in office?
Jack | 3:48 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
George did write an article in a newspaper. He has no moral obligation to be non-biased. The reporter does.
3rd Party | 3:58 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
I dislike Mitt more than most cadidates. Political machine candidates (see Hilary & Hick-a-bee) make me sick. Unfortunately, I feel the best person for me will be from a 3rd party that has zero chance of making any impact. However, I intend to vote this way. At least I can take comfort in the fact that my vote would count for nothing anyway since we have the ol' EC. Good luck finding the right nut-job to keep screwing things up!
Bookaholic | 4:43 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
So far, Mitt has the most delegates. He got second in Iowa, won in Wyoming and Montana, will do well in New Hampshire and the rest of the nation. Why would he quit when he's leading?

He is a great guy with lots of experience, a proven record of success and achievement. Romney's decent, stable, no skeletons in the closet. He's brilliant and analytical, and can streamline and cut the size of government, if anyone can. More and more people are looking beyond the silly name-calling of Mormon and flip-flopper and once they do, they like what they see. I am encouraged.

I think Mitt will win in '08, and we will be blessed for it. He will make a great president!
To: 3rd Party | 4:50 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
I think that the day will come when most of America will get fed up with the democrats and republicans always clashing and an independent that actually stands for something will be able to walk right into the white house.

In the meantime, Go Mitt.

Whomever wins the election better do something about this country's economy - and do it fast!
Joe Canada | 4:57 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Keep a fair perspective...who is the best person to lead the country in a) a time of long-term war, b)a time if economic uncertainty, and c) a time where home and family and "under assault" from many quarters. Whether you "like" the candidate or not is not the point; what will the candidate do for the country, especially in the three categories above? The successful candidate is required to be firm, decisive, have a sense of business, and carry strong family values. You may not like who you trust and you can't always trust who you like.

Mitt Romney - The Bill Clinton of our time.
To Jack and george | 5:22 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
What portion of the reporter's own words were biased? Is she biased because she quoted somebody? Or is she biased because you don't like the topic?
To :: Barb V | 5:22 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Thanks, Barb, for making the readers of these comments aware of the fact that the self-righteous Huckleberry opposes abolishing Birthright Citizenship for babies born to illegal aliens. If Mitt Romney was the one calling attention to that fact, Huckleberry would accuse him of engaging in negative campaigning. I hope Mitt keeps pointing out the differences between himself and his opponents, that he keeps telling it like it is and let the American people decide who best represents their views.
Is this a flip or a flop? | 5:49 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008

Hey jr - Whoever wins - buys their way. Get real. Bill bought his way (in addition to other things), GW and his daddy bought their way - Face it, you have to be rich or have phenomenal backing from interest groups to be a "successful" politician -

Looks like McCan is giving Mitt a thumpin in NH. I love it when the people decide based on thir own observarions.
Doug Adenauer | 5:57 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Oh, my heck.! If Mitt bites it, do we have to reading about dancing with the stars winners? What will the news do for ... well, news?
New Hampshire and Iowa won't be important primaries tomorrow, if Mitt loses. If he wins, I can see the news rating it nearly as high as his triumph in Wyoming.
Negative | 6:11 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
I'm not in love with Mitt Romney (in fact it looks like Obama might get my vote) but I was wondering why so many people on here think he is so terrible. I watched the debates, and his issue of "flip-flopping" was blatantly addressed. I'm still not going to vote for him, but I'd like to know what all the negative comments are based on.
The New Line Up | 10:28 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Mitt for President..He knows how to fix things.
Hillary for Vice President...Bill has taught her about Vice and how to get away with it.
Obama for Sec.of State...He brings people together.
Mc Caine for ???? Watching the Canadian Border.
He likes emmigration.
Maybe someone has a second on this nomination, it would save a lot of time, money, and pain watching TV for the next many months and they would all have a job they are suited for.

Indeed! | 10:30 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
Mitt Romney = the Jimmy Carter of our time.

Mitt Romney = the Barrack Obama of the Republican Party.

Mike Huckabee = the Barry Goldwater of our time.

Keep moving forward, Mike!
