When opportunity knocks at the door you better open it. This could be what the Jazz fans and Almond were waiting for. Let's hope that he gets an opportunity tonight.

Almond will get an opportunity there is no doubt. The question is will he freeze. If he comes in and greatly impacts the game say double figures in both offense and defense, then who knows.

We all know Almond Joy can shoot, but he isn't ready. Granted he hasn't been a game for months, but unless he comes out and plays tremendous D on Dunleavy and hits a couple threes his return will be deemed wasted.
The Jazz do not need ANOTHER scoring 2/3, rather a pissed off 2/3 that wants to stop the other team from scoring. Problem is, there is none to be found currently on this Jazz roster.

We need to remember that the Jazz still have Korver, Brewer, and Miles ahead of Almond. I will be surprised if Almond gets in tonight. Maybe a few minutes. He will most likely be back with the Flash when Price is better(which will be pretty quick). Although Almond has proven that he is a great scorer, he is not the magic answer for the Jazz. They need defensive changes and they need to play with more intensity and desire. Anyone agree?

Where are the Jazz throwback jerseys? Come on Larry. You're killing me man. They are probably in the tops of the league. Too bad it won't happen. I miss the purple, green, yellow. Baby blue? It's ok.

OK, I totally agree about the throwbacks! every other team in the league has sported the classic look. Even if they dont go back that far (Purple, Green, Yellow) they could at least go with their Black Away Jerseys. Man, those were awesome!

Not only is Almond averaging 30 points a game, but so is the man that he is supposed to be guarding. He's not ready for prime time. Also, those black and copper uniforms were horrible. If the team is going to wear throwbacks, it should be the Jazz note uniforms.

Just wanted to throw my vote in for the old mardi gras colors and the short shorts. The confusion caused by wearing the old uniforms may get us back into the playoffs. Shock and awe baby, shock and awe!

I'm talking old school white home uni's with the note on them. Yep. Purple, Green, and Yellow.
There has to be some sort of encompassing into our switching off of jerseys.
They switch off the dark blue with those horrible baby blue wanna-be 1990's Jazz jersey--why not pull a G.S. and wear the retro's about 15 times a season?
Why? Probably because Miller enjoys wearing his new, baby-blue Korver onsie to bed.

The Jazz need to play like it is the playoffs. I can't believe how poorly they play defense. They have a few good defensive stands and then the other team scores a few baskets and the Jazz just put their heads down and pout. No more acting like babies okay? If you want to win in the NBA, you need to play the First Security way (110%)the whole game. If you don't, then someone off the bench needs to step up and steal you spot. If Morris gets on the floor and plays "D" like there is no tomorrow, he will earn some PT.

How can you call yourself "OLD School" and not like Sloan? He is the nearest thing to old school that exists in the NBA, and he has earned at least 3 NBA coach-of-the-year awards, even if they are all sitting in somebody else's house. Long live Jerry Sloan, and long live Morris Almond!

Almond saw 6 minutes and 34 seconds of action, and hoisted up 5 shots in that little amount of time. Wow. Unfortunately, he only made 1 of them. He had zero assists and zero rebounds as well. Shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot.

He also had a game efficiency rating of -9. Contrast that to Matt Harpring's efficiency score of +24.

It looks like poor Almond was trying to hard to impress, rather than play team ball.

Rats. I wanted him to do well.

I feel that the one ingredient missing from the equation is patience with this team. I was looking through the records of the first few seasons Stockton and Malone were in the league and the Jazz didn't do too great. They had decent regular seasons but short playoff runs. It was not until Stockton and Malone had been in the league for about 12 or 13 seasons when they made the finals. Think about that when you bash Sloan or complain about Boozer, etc. If these guys are patient and keep working hard and stay together we may see the fruits of their hard labor.

I'm a little concerned about free agency down the road. You could seemingly count on Stockton and Malone to re-up (though Malone made you feel sometimes like he might leave). I hope Williams, Boozer, Millsap, all the Jazz players really want to prove something WITH THIS TEAM. That would be exciting to watch over time. To see this team mature and get better. I hope no one panics and does anything stupid. Also, go back and look at Stockton and Malone team road records. They were usually losing more than winning. Give this team time.

I'm not certain of what you are saying. Do we patiently hold on for 10 more years? Thirty years with Old School Sloan and maybe a couple of appearances in the finals.

I agree the team must mature. But it really seems we are not learning from last season? It doesn't seem like growth, development, more heart, better player leadership, or most of the dynamics that would say there is improvement over last season.

Granted, the Coach seems frustrated. At least the way he conducts himself suggests this.

Where is Gordie Chiesa when you need him? I think he likes Utah as well.

Naha, you make a valid argument. I'm not suggesting that this season is going well. I agree that it is not. And perhaps a change is needed. But along with wanting to see improvement now we have to look long-term. I don't get to see the Jazz often; but I saw their visit to L.A. against the Lakers (bad loss).

The big x-factor will be unknown for a time. That x-factor is what's in the hearts and minds of those on the court, in the coaching staff, and in the front office. If each group is interested in winning a championship then that's all you can ask for. But we can speculate all we want and that won't change the x-factor.

Remember the first year Houston won the title in 1994? I believe they won 47 games and were a 6-seed. And they came back from two series down 0-2. They probably got criticized that year for being bad and going nowhere. I'm not sure but I think if the Jazz are serious about winning we'll eventually find out. I'd love to see them win an NBA title. That would be awesome. I'll be cheering from So.Cal. Go Jazz!
