There aren't enough minutes to keep everyone at the 2 and 3 happy. It's hard to say who should have reduced minutes. A few weeks ago I would have said Miles, but he's come on as of late. I really like all three of them (Brewer, Korver, and Miles). I just hope that there's a way that all three of them can co-exist, and that one or two of them start demanding the minutes by the way they play.

Jazz Fann

What is going on? Brewer is fine, and so is Miles. Obviously Jerry Sloan has to get Korvor some PT to get him into the scheme and make him comfortable early on. Brewer doesn't need to become a focal point of the press to cause any controversy that doesn't exist. Plow up some ground somewhere else please. The Jazz are doing just fine. Gordon is gone.....let it go.

Jimmy's Sneakers

Jimmy doesn't like the sound of this. Jimmy needs Brewer to realize that we need him to become Bruce Bowen and not Kobe Bryant.

The key ingredient is playing as a team to reach the playoffs and also to be successful in the playoffs. One of the reasons that the Spurs are a great team is that they play as a team. They have players that play only 15-18 minutes a game that are vital to winning games. This is what I believe Sloan is trying to teach his young team to learn.
Go Jazz!

Glenn

The Coach has to do what is the best for the team and is true Jazz is being having problems in the road and at home wins are being good but the team needs more deep and shuffle players to find the right combo will be coach Jerry job. So just play the game.

I don't know, folks. Can we never be happy unless somebody's nose is out of joint? This is a TEAM game and all of these kids seem to be really trying. Pleeeeeze let's don't start up controversies that are not necessary, especially right now when they are attempting to get back in the race and efficiently incorporate the new guy. I trust they will keep their egos under control and realize that unless they work together and cheer each other on, it is all for nothing. I truly believe that is what they are trying to do. Go Jazzboys!!!!

Gretzky

I agree with Jazz Fann. Sloan, bless his heart, is going through similar preseason adjustments since Korver is new to the team and trying to find out where he will fit in. there will be adjustments for sure. Brewer will be back and no need for the Press to make a mountain out of an ant hill. Brewer is an amazing player but he is also the last man on the starting 5 at the beginning of the season. BE patient. the jazz still won't win the NBA championship EVER. Celtics will take it all this year.

I want Korver to be a constant because I love watching him and we are winning. I would like to see him start for Andrei tonight. It's too early for Brewer to be frustrated because things will work out. He shouldn't think how the team can help him but how can he help the team!

Brewer's Defense

Seems I remember reading somewhere recently that Sloan wasn't happy with Brewer's defense. He mentioned Brewer not getting up on his man enough to keep him from feeling comfortable with the jump shot.

Sure, Brewer is one of the top thieves on the team, but that's not the only kind of defense to be played.

I think Sloan wants Brewer to bump up one more step in his defense by having enough confidence to play closer defense on his man, and to have enough confidence in team-defense that if he's beat, someone else will help out. Of course, that means Brewer needs to know where to go to pick up defense on the man his teammate vacated to help him. Maybe he's not gotten that down yet.

I knew this was going to happen.

When the Jazz acquired Korver. Its no secret the Jazz are now overloaded and the 2 & 3. On top of these 3, the Jazz have Morris Almond leading the D-league in scoring. They are going to have to make a trade and personally I'd like to see them deal CJ somewhere.

He is a nice kid and getting better but the reality is the Jazz have too many at that spot and I think Almond is going to be a very good player.

He knows in the offseason we lost fisher than we tried to sign mo peterson, but failed too which is a good thing thanks kevin O'connor. So Brewer steped up but his only competion was Cj and worthless Gira. Now he has competion with CJ and Krover. I thought brewer played alot better the first part of the season he would drive to the basket. Now he just settles for the jump shot. But Brewer better watch out for the DIAMOND in the rough in Provo MORRIS ALMOND. He has got what CJ, Krover, and Brewer all have only his is one dude. He is the future Starter at the 2 guard in Utah.

Tough Luck

Message to Ronnie Brewer. You've played well...but, the Team is 16-16, before Kyle Korver got here. That means, with you starting (along with other factors) we are a .500 mediocre team. If we keep doing what we've always done, we will always get the same results, hence the need to shake the lineup a bit.

p.s. CJ is bound to make another mental error, so be ready, you won't have to give him so many minutues in a week from now. CJ is still too mentaly weak.

Re:I knew this would happen

Personally you would like to trade our best 3 point shooter,( 49% ). Best defender ( position defense, help defense, team defense ). 2nd best free throw shooter. Hey, do you personaly see what you watch?

Beav

Brewer and CJ both need to read the writing on the wall. The future is Korver and Almond. The Jazz will never be a true contender without a lights out shooter on the floor. You cant have Brewer and AK on the floor at the same time cause neither is a true shooter. Even when they (AK-Brewer) hit outside shots the opposing teams are smiling cause that is the shot they will live with us taking all day. The reason for the recent losing is that in the 4th quarter teams clog the middle and force us to take outside jumpers. The Jazz however listen to sloan and continue to force the ball inside only have double and triple teams and force us into turnovers or forced shots. Korver needs to be in there so that teams cant collapse inside. They wont leave him wide open and if they do Korver will make them pay. Look at what a diffence it made when Hornacek came to the Jazz. Brewer nor AK can demand the defense to stay honest so unless Brewer starts taking AKs minutes,he better be prepared to be more frustrated.

Gbear

I like all 3 of our 2 guards, but I think Brewer is important as he brings an element of athleticism, quickness and slashing that Korver and MIles can't add. The Jazz need athletes on the court, not just pure shooters.
Having said that, I have been VERY impressed and surprised by Korvers defense so far, the guy wants to win and he plays hard. As much as I love watching Ronnie B play, at times, I question his heart.
I like all three getting minutes until CJ implodes, whiich he will soon.

Jazz fan in Colorado

Brewer needs to hang tough, and earn his minutes, this is actually a great problem to have ...3 guys fightin for minutes at the 2/3 and even 4 against some teams.last year it was an overmatched,6 foot Fisher with those minutes,if all three guys play 100% when they are in....I don`t see a problem, also help each other and root for each other...been watching the nuggies, they are healthy and are gonna be tough

Catreus

I think that if the three guards can handle somewhat reduced playing time for each of them, then the overall effect will be beneficial to the team. In the win against Philadelphia we got a total of 37 points from the 2-guard spot on 10-15 shooting and 13-14 ft. shooting. Each of them plays a different game, and so each gives other teams something different to focus on when they're on the floor. If each of them plays reduced minutes, but the team wins, you'd hope that they'll be happy (or at least keep their unhappiness to themselves and not let it become a team issue).

Dave

the jazz have a pretty good situation at the 2 guard spot, but as always, Sloan will figure out a way to destroy the confidence of all 3 of them. Jerry isn't happy unless he is turning someone into a headcase and consequently in the doghouse. I mean who is he going to blame when the jazz miss the playoffs.

ID Jazz

I wrote it first that you could see Brewer and CJ not happy on the bench at the end of Korvers first game. I have to wonder if CJ is getting the time right now to prep for a trade because you have a four way log jam there(Korver, CJ, Brewer, MO). Brewer, Korver, and MO have at least two years left on there contracts and CJ has just this season and its no secret the CJ is subtly in Sloan's dog house for not working out in SLC and not joining the RMR. As well as CJ should be the odd man out because if the Jazz are out and running then you want Brewer in the game because he finishes well around the basket. If there running the half court set then no doubt you want Korver in the game. Bring Fes up to back Okur and trade Collins, CJ, and Hart for a backup point guard who does not drop the lead every time he comes into the game. Sloan will find a way to make mess of all this and make some unhappy players and then hence the Dogcatcher will have someone for his doghouse.

Brewer shoots 52% from the field, takes good shots, has a good all around game but becomes fatigued fighting through screens, tends to give up a little on defense and dosn't stay with,( in front of ) his man.Right now C. J. is spreading the floor and keeping opposing defenses honest.Korvers free throw shooting, and three point shooting is valuable late in the 4th.He's also valuable when Harpring or Kirilenko go down.We need all these guys.Almond and his D league experience will be valuable next year when we fail to get C.J. signed.I believe we are a back up center and a back up point away from being a contender.Part of the solution is only a Flash away, developing for a playoff run.
