Yes, National Treasure did pale in comparison. Nothing at all like the Part I. Part II isn't completely bad like most sequels. But it's pretty bad.

Well, I thought part 2 was great and have heard the same response from many of my friends and family. I don't know what you were expecting. The acting was wonderful and the story line intriguing. I hope they continue to make these movies. Despite the fictional parts of the movies, a lot of American history, which has been researched by the writers of these movies. I got this information from watching interviews with the cast. It has made my children, and myself more interested in this Nations history. I hope for more to come!

I'd love to see the comeback of cartoon shorts in the theaters. What an idea!

I'm glad to see commentary on this short. It was wonderful, and we need more of them. I don't know how many kids really enjoyed it, but the adults in the audience were laughing (hooting!) out loud. We can all identify.

As for National Treasure, I though it was great too. Entertaining, PG, and some historical context thrown in too.

It's nice to be able to go to a show that you can recommend to your mom!

Thanks for writing this great article! I haven't had more fun in a movie in years...watching that cartoon was a blast. It brought all my joy back from seeing it. Nothing more enjoyable than being part of something created at the highest level of one's craft and profession--which this was.

I thought the short cartoon was outstanding. I hope that it means disney will continue in this direction. National Treasure was pretty good too

Although I love Goofy and the old cartoons, this one was too long. They could have shortened it by about two minutes and it would have been better. I love the return of Goofy, but it dragged a little.

Hey Goofy Fan - at 6 minutes this Goofy short is actually significantly shorter than ANY of its historical predecessors. Great job, Disney - Keep em' coming!

I'm sorry but as a regular movie goer this cartoon almost ruined the whole experience for me. As goofy fan wrote it was WAY too long, and really I didn't find it humorous. Parts may have been, but it just went on and on and on and on. I'm all about the "short" film though, so try again Disney, but you didn't quite nail it as the journalist writing this article said. Make it shorter and more exciting for children and adults.

The Goofy short reminded me a little bit of Mickey's "Prince and the Pauper," how they brought the characters to life in their original and clever way. The same story people who worked on it (ie Joe Ranft and Roger Allers) also worked as story people on the early '90s Disney features, and some later moved on to Pixar. I think this Goofy cartoon is a good sign for Disney films to come.

Programming Goofy with National Treasure gave many more adults an opportunity to see it than would have with Enchanted.

Actually, is has never been dead. Underutilized and misapplied, yes, but not dead. Walt always emphasized that the medium is just the tool, that story is paramount. No amount of eye candy can make up for a bad story, and John Lasseter has certainly stuck to that concept. Disney and other studios just got so caught up in the magic and possibilities of 3D in the wake of Pixars's success that they let the story part get away from them. The glut of bad cartoons and cheap features done in 3D is everywhere evident. Having Lasseter at the helm of Disney feature animation is a move I applaud, and should herald many good things to come.

The Simpsons has been going strong for almost 20 years now.

I loved the short. It was retro while having a contemporary theme. It moved well, lots of great gags, and I bet you would have to watch it two or three times to catch them all.

Disney's "Princess and the Frog" will be a 2D feature, and I'm really looking forward to that. I'm betting a sequel to "Enchanted" will be made and at least some of that will be 2D.

I couldn't disagree with Chris more on this being an enjoyable and funny cartoon. I can't tell you how many times I rolled my eyes. In an age of over-consumerism, why pollute the field with even more images of having to have the biggest, best, and brightest? If the Jones' weren't hard enough to keep up with! I felt the cartoon didn't live up to the legacy of the original Disney cartoons and hope I don't see more of them attached to upcoming films.
