The point? | 4:03 p.m. Jan. 2, 2008
Was there some point of printing this nonsense?

Oh, right, someone missed a plane.

I get it now.

Nice of our Governor to go out and stump for senator that would give blanket amnesty to ALL illegal aliens if he were to get elected. The same guy that did NOT vote for tax cuts... which were the only good thing the Bush Administration did in 8 years. Speaks volumes about our governors vision for our state.

We can only hope that Huntsman is a one term governor...

re: The point?

I am sure the Deseret News is grateful for your oversight and concern for how it uses its resources.

I don't get the coverage either. I mean, I know the Utah press wants to grind it into the ground that Mitt's OUR boy, simply based on a culturally-bound religion factor and that he came into town for a few months and managed the Winter Olympics.

Are those two factors requisite for daily, hourly coverage of his Mittness? I don't think so. Perhaps if Mitt grew up here, was governor here, had business ties here, had any ties here (other than aforementioned stretches of religion and February 2002), then yeah, send out the troops for coverage.

Anyone else sick of hearing the Utah press proclaim Mitt is Utah's favorite son?

I thought Brigham Young was. Or Edward Abbey, Orson Scott Card, Ken Jennings, Wallace Stegner, Larry H. Miller, Butch Cassidy, John Willard Marriott, Robert Redford, Karl Malone, Kim Peek, Marriner Eccles, Wilford Brimley, Steve Young...more famous Utahns than Mitt.

Oh well. Not like it's going to change anything...just food for thought.

Since when was Steve Young a Utahn? A Connecticutian, more like it (unless you're going to start claiming every BYU grad as a Utahn).

Deseret News coverage of Mitt is called for. The pop. of Utah is overwhelmingly Mormon and they think that the liberal flip flopper thinks like a conservative bishop. THey truly have not studied him. So the News is in touch with its subscribers and should cover him. It sells newspapers kids.

My point was anyone I mentioned, especially Connecticut-bred Steve Young, has more ties to Utah than Mitt. The fact that Romney's running for president doesn't necessitate the inordinate amount of Beehive state press coverage. The Mormon-angle coverage is overplayed. Why don't Utah newspeople cover McCain, Obama or other front-runners as much as Mitt? Bias. Clear and simple. It's tiring.
