Only in a free and prosperous nation can such a thing be considered and then made news. I see this as a little sad, don't you?
Timothy-Allen Albertson | 5:13 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
I suppose this "activist" has never heard
of ex post facto laws. He probably has
never read the US Constitution and my dead
dog Tubby Joe knew exponentially more about
the US Constitution that he seems to know.

But then the US left has no problem with
"an end justifies the means" modus operandi.

Must be a slow news day. I can't believe somebody gets paid to write this stuff.

While you're at it La Verkin just might decide to suceed from the United Nations........ again

I am tired of these seditious creeps coming out against the Commander-in-Chief with their braying, unsubstantiated claims in time of war. It is time we dusted off our sedition and traitor stautes and sent the FBI out to do a little intimidation of their own.
Not Surprised | 6:23 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
It is not their fault--it's the result of a newly discovered "disease" cause by wearing too much plaid or eating too many pine nuts. With a few more million dollars in research grants to the U of Vermont, they will be able to pinpoint the cause and send these innocent victims some well-deserved financial relief. God help the USA!

What a joke. This seems like something Rocky Anderson would try and do. Don't these small town political animals understand what a ridiculous waste of time this is? It's like some small towns in Utah voting to secede from the United Nations.

Vermont is one of the 50 United States right? I can't remember since their is about 0 things of interest in that state. No wonder they're a bunch of lefties, when nothing goes on around you you have to find a way to spice things up a bit, and that's just what the left is, a whole bunch of spice but no entree. Take these people from the lost state of Vermont for example. They want to have Bush arrested for war crimes, and Cheney too. What were their crimes, I mean if you're going to arrest somebody you should probably have a specific reason to, but those Vermontians haven't listed any. Let's just book him for war crimes in general, i'm sure he committed one somewhere along the way and once we have the President of the United States behind bars we can get Vermont back on the map, that is, if it ever was in the first place. Well, keep shooting my Vermontian friends, wherever it is you are (east i think), the left is full of ideas for you to continue to make fools of yourselves.

It seems strange to me that those very people who claim that President Bush has violated the Constitution, haven't studied it to the point that they understand the rules for impeachment and trial allowed by the Constitution.

What an embarrasment to the country this activist group is. Hey Rocky...time to pack your bags and join a group that has the same beliefs as you.

Little state, little town,little minds.

Gotta love a country were kooks like this can freely express such extreme opposition to the leadership without fear of retribution.

This really is a GREAT country.

Dave | 9:27 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Thanks for reminding us that the wacko left is still kicking and screaming. Nerds.

someone should give Bib-Laden the home phone numbers of these idiots,

It is fun to read the comments of a state that is would still suported Nixon after he left in shame! Too bad all the good schools are not able to teach people to think for themselves!
In Utah, the motto is: If a Republican does it, no matter how immoral or illegal, it is all right! But it does make for cartoon reading!
Bob | 10:13 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Gosh, I wonder if even one letter in support of these guys will get past the Des News censors. Oops, looks like one did!
patriot | 10:16 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
I wonder if these mo-rons wanted to arrest Clinton after the fiasco at Waco?
Rick | 10:17 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
I frankly like the point our fellow citizens in Vermont are attempting to make. Bush and Cheney, in my mind, are responsible for the deaths of thousands of Iraqi civilians,in addition to the deaths of over 2,000 U.S. service members. Iraq was not involved in 9-11, yet the Bush administration initially justified the invasion of Iraq on the basis that it was. The unneccessary war in Iraq has only aggravated the potential terrorist threat while also destroying the credibility of the U.S. in the world community.
Moral Majority | 11:26 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
I love the American way. "Look the other way", let the corrupt and powerful have there way and in the end, everyone says, "what happened" how can this be.
Chris | 11:43 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
After reading all the comments the only thing I can conclude is that the conservatives who have responded are capable of name calling but not substantive dialogue. Our current administration has assaulted individual rights under the guise of homeland security claiming that government can monitor phone and internet conversation. What happended to freedom of speech? This administration has arrested numerous individuals and never charged them with crimes nor allowed a trial. Being charged and brought to trial is a protected right in the constitution. In addition this administration has supported torture of these people. I am fairly certain that our constitution is supposed to protect us from cruel and unusual punishment. So, Vermont, lead out and maybe someone in this administration will reconsider what it means to support, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

I love you Bush! from Utah
Re: Anonymous - 8:55 a.m. | 11:58 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Were you talking about Utah, or Vermont?
Typical response | 12:30 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Wow!
Lots of Rush Limbaugh-esque anger in this one.
But what would you expect from the reddest state in America?
These same people wouldn't mind learning how to do the goose-step.
Ramadi | 12:31 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Rick:

My guess is that you have never been too Iraq. When you say Bush and Cheney killed thousands of innocent women and childre, you mean they did this through US soldiers. You are a liar, slug, and anti American creep. I am one of those soldiers, I, not you, looked into the eyes of these women and children who thanked us everyday for being their. You keep reading the daily liberal news as if it is your scripture and believe your anti America crap. Make you a deal, you go over to Iraq, look the people in the eyes, then come back and call me a murderer, your a coward at every level.
Timothy-Allen Albertson | 12:36 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Rick is a typical leftist who is more concerned about enemy deaths than US deaths as shown by (1) his mentioning iraqi deaths before US deaths, and, (2) his failure to accurately state the number US military personnel murdered by islamofacists in iraq. Of course, it would not surprise me one bit that Rick classes an islamofascist carrying or planting an IED as an "innocent iraqi cvilian."
Timothy-Allen Albertson | 12:37 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
As to Vermont, it must be given some slack because
it is the birthplace of The Prophet Joseph Smith.
Anonymous | 12:45 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
If Vermont were in the NAZI state that Prescott Bush supported, these folks could be handle in a manner acceptable to most Utahans. Maybe, it only a matter of time. Censorship is the favorite tool of tyrants.
Thomas | 1:01 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
I thought this little question of state/federal relations got answered pretty conclusively in about 1865 or so.

I think it's time for a latter-day General Sherman to pay Brattleboro a visit.
wrz | 1:10 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
That explains why they send kooks like Leahy and Sanders to the US Senate.
zrq | 1:26 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Rick, be advised that the US Congress authorized and funded the war. Maybe you should have them arrested and jailed for war crimes. At least all the Democrats who voted for the war but keep badmouthing the CinC for trying to save them from another terrorist attack.
Sounds like movie plot | 2:08 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
This would make a great movie plot, if you love the liberal tripe Hollywood puts out these days. The storyline would have the troubled, small-town sheriff trying to arrest the most powerful man in the world. Local townspeople looking miserable, acting like the world was about to end because a Bush type is president. Flashbacks of supposed war crimes interweaved to pull in the liberal viewer. Maybe even throw in some globing warming stuff; perhaps have the townies suffering from 110F heat in the middle of March. Or better yet, just intertwine and recycle the plot from The Simpsons movie because the real town seems to be in a bubble anyway.

Also 12:45 pm Anonymous post's Nazi reference about Prescott Bush (which has NEVER been proven) but is one of the first things a liberal throws out against our president.

I have a hard time believing this is the towns biggest problem. Somehow I believe education and trash pick up on time rate higher than Bushs supposed war crimes.

The folks in Vermont have lost sight of the big picture--of why we are in Iraq and Afghanistan, who is really killing the civilians, and the real danger that terrorism poses to our country. It's a mistake to blame the President for the crimes that these men commit; he's not the one detonating car bombs in crowded marketplaces, roving the streets with death squads, or shooting out of a pickup during a drive-by. We should be grateful to have a President who recognizes a threat to humanity itself and takes action despite criticism.

Don't lose sight of the big picture--otherwise, the future looks pretty grim.
patriot | 2:50 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
funny how the left wing in this country got so interested in the Constitution when George Bush became President. They didn't seem quite so interested in the Constitution when Bill Clinton was bombing Christians in Serbia or when the Supreme Court was taking away State's rights to disallow abortion. Let's be honest: the Constitution was jettisoned a long time ago. If it hadn't been then we wouldn't have Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the Department of Education, SCHIP, Environmental Protection Agency, etc, etc,
And don't forget that the removal of Saddam Hussein from power was a Clinton Administration policy objective before it was a Bush admin objective
russ | 4:08 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
My hat is off to the town in Vermont. Freedom is freedom. They talk, they discuss, they debate, and then they conclude that President Bush should be impeached. Sounds like democracy. Hmmmm. I suspect that anyone with a 7th grade education could write up the bill of particulars. Good going, Vermont. Dissent is alive and well. Makes me proud to be an American, a disabled Vietnam vet. Democracy lives!

Freedom isn't free... funny how those of us serving in the military aren't complaining, even though our families are in harms way in Iraq, yet those sitting in their comfy towns are thinking up ridiculous things to petition for. Maybe we should've let Hitler reign for a little while longer too, or arrested FDR for freeing most of Europe from his dominion, after all, lots more Americans were killed in that war!
patriot | 5:23 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Hey Russ- the article didn't say that they wanted to impeach President Bush - it said that he should be arrested if he came to their town

This is the most jingoistic time in American history.
When the lunatic war-mongers run out of overseas enemies - they want war with their fellow Americans.
Pay attention to how often Limbaugh-type accusations of those dirty "leftists" (aka Democrats) pop up nowadays.
This county is in deep, deep trouble.
MTM | 7:35 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Further proof the left is so far out there they'll never come to understand the real world.
Linus | 7:37 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
I keep reading scathing denunciations from the Brattleboro sympathizers against "Limbaugh-type" comments. I hope one of them pays me the same compliment. My relatives who have returned from military duty in Iraq have shared accounts of their accomplishments that make me very proud of America, proud of our armed forces, and proud of our undistracted Commander-in-Chief, President George W. Bush, who makes decisions on principal instead of poll. God bless America! And may an Islamic poultice be placed on the boil they call Brattleboro!

What a nerd I must be, posting on the same article twice, once in the morning, and now at night. Sounds like something a Vermontian would do. Anyway, I was just thinking how funny it was that this turned into a left and right rally, when if you look at a map of Bushes kingdom you find that it is Vermont that resides on the right and Utah to the left, geographically speaking.

The USA is the most powerful nation in the world. We can do what ever we want to do that profits our interests. It is our God given right.
Free in California | 9:48 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
California used to be called the land of Fruits, Nuts and Flakes. Evidently they all moved to Vermont. Vermont citizens must not have any local issues of importance. Fortunately my family moved from Battleboro some 350 years ago. I thought Vermont had requested to become part of Canada. Whatever happened to that issue?
Carl | 10:30 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Utah would be the first state to support a Bush dictatorship.
Nathanael4551 | 8:19 p.m. Dec. 30, 2007
The "freak" machinist from Vermont has more constitutional understanding than any of the Bushite Fascists on this blog. Bush et al are war criminals. Period. Paragraph. End of story. I challenge any to refute the facts and constitutional foundation in these below posts, google the titles. What is needed is a few oath taking officers to do their duty and arrest him and Cheney. That includes those in uniform. It is the obligation of the military to disobey unlawful orders and the Iraq/Afghanistan wars are illegal.

CONSPIRACY OF WAR CRIMINALS - GWBUSH AND CONGRESS

IMPEACHMENT? NO. INDICTMENT! THE INDICTMENT OF GWBUSH AWAITS ONLY COURAGE

DC REALLY DOES MEAN ... DISTRICT OF CRIMINALS
