I think the cougs would win in a spelling bee...although Mr. Bass/19 are very creative.

I've been to both schools and the U is much better academically, socially, and spiritually. I know players on both teams and would much rather play with the kind of players the U recruits than those at the Y.

Here's the deal: as great as it is to think that BYU playing better and the U playing better to give the state some better recognition, as long as the stupid BCS is around, no one is going to give any respect to the grand old state of Utah. No one cared about Urban Meyer's Utes and no one cares about BYU's meaningless defeat of UCLA in the who-gives-a-rat's-tail bowl. It's all a load of minutia, and we have the blessed BCS to thank for it.

Any time any school gets a great player they need to be cheered!! The Y has had some great players as well as all the other schools in the Mt West, but the true test is on the field. We've seen alot of so-so players become great, especially at the Y. It's how hard you work and what kind of support you have around you that counts, not just your own ability and only "time" will tell. Good luck to all the new recurits may they have a great season at all the schools. May the best teams win!!!

Someone needs to let the Trib know about Rivals . com.

Yesterday, they reported a zero star rating.

Anybody have any idea why the local papers are so bad? SLC is no longer a small town.
Stop It! | 11:25 a.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Obviously BYU fans don't believe in 2nd chances and changing the lives of others. "Once you've messed up, you can't be forgiven." We don't know what has happened to this recruit in his past. I do know for a fact that BYU has kicked kids off their team only to see them back a year of two later. Utah and BYU have seen their share of "cast offs". As a football fan in general, we need to stop being hypocrites. People change

If you know anything about the recruiting websites Scout.com and Rivals.com you would know that if a guy has zero stars it means they haven't evaluated the player yet. Everybody that is evaluated is given at least 1 star. Check again buddy, Rivals.com now has him as a 3 star guy!
It is all subjective. Kruger who also committed to the Utes is a 3 star on Scout and a 4 star on Rivals.

I hope this guy blows up this year to prove all you haters wrong for judging him without knowing anything more than what was reported on this story.
RE: a good recruit? | 12:05 p.m. Dec. 29, 2007
Did you ever consider that the kid didnt want to go back to Boise State? He was red shirted and they had a lot of players to throw the ball too the year he was there, you know, when they beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl!
Why do you sound so bitter about people being excited about a recruit that is highly regarded by a major recruiting site? Doesnt guarantee he will be great but he obviously has talent the Utes can coach to get better. Settle down will ya!

Reality check for you Cougars:
From this point on UTAH will be the only team to "bust the BCS" because they didnt have much in their favor. They had to make it into the top 5 to get to the Fiesta Bowl. With the change in the rules, BSU and Hawaii with easy schedules had to win out and make it to only the top 12.
If BYU goes to a BCS game next year, fine. Not as impressive as what Utah did in '04.

About the "Greatness of conf. championships": as long as the MWC Champ gets "rewarded" with the Las Vegas bowl, a conf. championship is nothing more than a banner on the stadium. Who cares? Unless there is a playoff or a better bowl I would rather beat my rival, get 2nd place and win my bowl game. Conf Championship=nothing.

Re: little brother-football was being played B 4 Lavell. The all time record,Utah OWNS the Zoobs. Not even close. Aside from that, it kills you all that we have won a BCS game and you havent even had a chance to play in one. Who really is the little brother?

BYU has fallen so far that none of their fans even recognize they have blown golden oppurtunities the last to years by losing games to teams they were much better than, in the process costing them a chance to go to a bcs game. Get some real goals if you want to consider yourself a real program. Beat someone that has done something, until then schedule weber state, idaho state and keep losing to mediocre tulsa and arizona. Cougars are nothing nationaly.

BYU fans are jealous of this pick up is all. Once enrolled at BSU and then not eligible makes it so he can't go back.

So much for BYU not wanting him. Shakerin was being recruited by BYU and chose UTAH. We also have one that committed to BYU and then chose UTAH.

its strange to jugde a person just by what you hear and not what you actually know and showing the ignorance on this page just shows that everything that is being said is common to a person that doesnt know what they are talking about. maybe he has his own family and boise state didnt have the support he needed to help him with that school and on the field. you never know. maybe he was offered by hawaii but know that there is a 2 year sit out rule because of the conference he didnt take it. you never know. so dont be so quick to judge

Key really wanted to go to Utah, I don't know why, but he did. UCLA was looking at him really hard, and so were other PAC-10 schools. He was the best receiver in JC Football, and can do the same things at the D-1 level. Just because your team couldn't sign him doesn't mean that you have to be bad-mouthing him the way you are. Bottom line: like it or not, he's gonna tear your teams up if they give him the ball.
