Eric Weddle is a real athlete, and a class act. We all wish him the best.
Way to go, and good luck from a BYU fan.
Weddle is the best all-around football college athlete to have played in the State of Utah. As a true leader and greatly respected by the competition, he'll surely be an All-Pro.
I totally agree. I've never followed a BYU player in the draft like I did Weddle. I'm proud to have lived in a state where he played football. That guy is just awesome to watch.
Great article!!! Congrats to Eric Weddle. Keep working hard.
Go Cougars!!!
I'm not sure if he is the best all around athlete to play in this state. See: Young, Mcmahon, Detmer, Steve Smith, but he's very good and was a lot of fun to watch on Saturdays.
Only 22 years old? That is amazing what he has accomplished. He clearly is a fan favorite, and there is a small whispered buzz that runs through the San Diego Temple on a regular basis when he attends. I hope he continues to excel in the NFL, and I hope that he continues to say "Ugh" after the BYU-Utah game every year!:) I would really like to see follow up articles about Eric Weddle.
It seems that BYU fans appreciate EW more than anyone else. Go Weddle! Go Utes AND Cougars! LOL
Yep, I'm another Cougar fan and I wish Weddle all the best. He seems like a great guy and a class act. Sounds like Weddle should have gone into politics. If he can get Ute and Cougar fans to agree on something, then surely he could do the same with Republicans and Democrats right?
Weddle's been a lot of fun to watch this year, but he was just a riot to watch last year. I definitely missed him wearing a red helmet this year. What an amazing athlete! Glad to see he's transitioned so well to the NFL.
You gotta love how player like Weddle help everybody see how important the game is, but also how important it isn't--or another words how other things are more important still.
Lots of luck to Weddle, John Beck, and others like them.
Eric Weddle is the classiest Ute I have ever cheered against. I used to kid my Ute friends that they should change the team name to the "Runnin' Weddles". I am glad he is doing so well in the NFL! (and glad he's not at the U anymore). Go Cougars!
What a great article about a great player. It was fun to see Eric at the Ute pep rally the night before the Poinsettia Bowl and to see him on the sidelines during the Bowl game getting the Utes fired up. He is a true Ute in every sense of the word and a true class act.
Good luck to Weddle in all that his NFL career holds.
Yes another BYU FAN,Talent is easy to spot and with respect to the TUN- Weddle is the Bomb!! 110% every play every DAY !!! Go Weddle !!!
He would have looked really good in cougar blue. he's a classy guy
Weddle and Aaron Francisco (ex BYU now with Arizona) will be two of the best safeties in the league the next 5 years. Francisco is not Weddle but he has been injured and after coming back racked up 9 tackles last game. Both should open next season as starters. I love following classy BYU and Utah athletes as they go to the pros. Smith with the 49ers and Beck are two more who will make us all proud.
It is funny how Weddle seems to have become just as popular with BYU fans as Utes. It's almost like (after joining the church while at the U) BYU has almost adopted him as their own. Maybe it is because he always spoke very respectfully of BYU and BYU players. The Utes current QB Johnson is very much in the same mold. There are several current and ex-Utes I would have loved to have seen in Blue.
Weddle is truely a unique talent!
Great article. San Diego is the perfect gig for Weddle. I have no doubt he'll be a big name in the NFL very soon. I would love to see Alex Smith and Beck do well too, but they play for such horrible teams that they don't really even have a chance.
Good luck to all Utes and Cougars playing on Sundays. Make us proud.
Thanks, Eric for getting schooled by Johnny Harline on the sideline. He out performed you for that touchdown. You can't guard him, period.
