FAA backing Provo airport radar facility

Salt Lake Pilot | 12:17 p.m. Dec. 21, 2007
As a small aircraft pilot in Salt Lake City, I can vouch for the need for radar coverage in Utah County. I have flown in both the Provo and the Ogden areas, and both can become very congested. While a pilot's duty to "see and avoid" other aircraft is the same in both areas, knowing that the Ogden air traffic controllers can give me radar-based traffic advisories makes me much more comfortable navigating that airspace.

The benefits of having radar extend far beyond Provo city. I hope the state is willing to look at helping to fund this need.
