LIVE THE LAW OF THE LAND OR DON'T create no double standards off these people.

One can only imagine the cultural conflict that could come as Utah
Valley, the bastion of Wasatch Front Mormonism, confronts the influx of people who have a very different perspective on not just religion, but it's role in public life. One can only hope that it will be a more mature response than the adolescent bickering seen in Salt Lake County as those residents have had to accommodate the "Outsiders."

Utah County's a great place! | 9:01 a.m. Dec. 20, 2007
I just hope the county leadership can work togther to bring in higher paying job's. Right now there is a retail boom and much more retail planned. UC needs to work toward getting manufacturing jobs and invest in the up and coming high tech companies.

It's funny how the article says the Utah Co. Sheriff is severely understaffed yet if you go to their website they are not hiring.

It seems to me that diversity just causes a lot of friction and bickering. I don't like either one. A lot of newcomers seem to immediately set out to tear down what is already here which cause hard feelings for the existing population. Most of the people I have encountered in life seem to hold a pretty high opinion of themselves and a very low opinion of anybody that disagrees with them.

Had to laugh when they said "The burden of patrolling lies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office,"

Because EM contracts with them and pays for every single officer which is more than 15-20 when you count all the sergeants, detectives, and deputies. EM is then billed for any additional expenses that aren't included in the contract. So is it really a burden if they are paying for all the services? The paper should contact the UCSO and see how much money EM pays to police their city vs what most other cities pay. EM is probably in the top 3.

EM isn't ready for its own police force yet. It is still fixing other problems. You don't want a start up police force going wrong, so they leave it to the "professionals" for now.
(insert latest bash on EM/Mayor/Police joke here)
