The way some of the self-acclaimed LDS people express themselves on these blogs, I am sorry to say that I would have to agree with "Re: Yep"
and his perception.

>>Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee apologized to Mitt Romney on Wednesday for saying, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"<<

How can anyone honestly classify this question as an attack on the Mormon religion or its doctrines and beliefs?

Shouldn't we be questioning why Mitt Romney avoided answering this question honestly with a resounding yes that Mormon doctrine and belief does teach that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers?

Its no wonder Romney refuses to talk about the convoluted history of his church and beliefs.
I would keep in the closet the best I could if I were him.

It is my understanding that Mr. Romney is running for President ofthe United States. It is not a position that should be decided on the basis of one's theology or personal ideology other than as it might affect their office. In reality, the concept that a president can stand alone and stump for their position is relatively erroneous. The only reason that it has been possible with the current administration has been because of the people placed around him. That was done with the direct influence of the Republican party.

There is no LDS Party, and therefore, Romney is not running as "The LDS candidate" any more than Huckabee is "The Baptist Candidate" or Kennedy was "The Catholic Candidate." The last I heard, America was about freedom, including religious freedom ... and Romney has shown far more respect for diversity among the voters and fellow candidates than the tolerance they have shown ... and certainly more than Mr. Bush. I'd hate to think that the one thing we've learned over the last eight years has been religious intolerance. That's not the America my ancestors came to or fought for.

So, is it possible to consider the MAN and the Qualifications before we bother with his private life?

Or have we become too used to the Enquirer mind-set and the Bush attacks on personal ideology?

I will not vote for Hillary Clinton this election. That doesn't mean that I am a sexist.

I will not vote for Barrack Obama this election. That doesn't mean that I am a racist.

I will not vote for John McCain this election. That doesn't mean that I don't support veterans or former POWs.

I will not vote for John Edwards this election. That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate trial lawyers.

With Mike Huckabee as the conservative front runner, I probably won't vote for Fred Thompson. That doesn't mean that I don't enjow watching Law and Order.

I am one individual Mormon. I'm proud to be a Mormon. As an indivual Republican voter. I represent only myself - not the GOP and not the Church - in my votes.

Mitt Romney represents only himself. I will never vote for him because he is a liberal.

I do not believe that Mike Huckabee "attacked" the Church. He merely asked a question relating to an often confusing doctrine that a non-member should ask, if interested.

HUCKABEE/WATTS '08

Mitt Romney has never been discriminated against because of his religion.

Mitt Romney has simply been discriminated against because he is a liberal.

Cheap shot - not attack | 8:10 p.m. Dec. 13, 2007
I agree the question was low - clearly a cheap shot.

But an "attack"? No. "Persecution"? Hardly.

Gain some perspective.

Politics was NEVER a game of play-nice. Romney's a big boy - he knows this.

If you can't stand the heat - get out of the kitchen.

As a Republican living in the liberal NW, I agree w/earlier comments that Mitt must stay focused on the issues and not get distracted. Huckabee has apologized, Romney said drop it. So it's over. The bigger task is stopping a potential Clinton/Obama victory. Those of you who haven't had the "pleasure" of living under liberal rule have no idea of how ridiculous it can get. My brother, who lives in Utah, thinks he's a liberal because he once voted for a school levy or something. HA! The kooks up here in the NW are so far left, you can't even reason with them. Cars and homes with GOP candidate signs/stickers are routinely vandalized. They quell free speech and debate at every opportunity. And they're running the show here! Fellow conservatives, stop bickering, unite, and let's keep the donkeys out of the White House (again).
what !!??? | 11:06 p.m. Dec. 13, 2007

Yes or No....are Jesus and Lucifer, (spiritual) brothers? or,has that teaching, changed?

Did anyone understand the Church's response to Huckabee's question??? I didn't...and I aready knew the answer!!

Someone in this mish-mash of ideas suggested that if Mitt wants to be president, he should reject his Mormon faith. Mitt replied that he would never reject the faith of his fathers. Along with our 30th president Silent Cal Collidge, Mitt would rather be right than president. The times cry out for such a man and Mitt Romney is that man, He will be the next president of the United States so you doubters get used to the idea. I will vote for Mitt Romney because he flip-flopped on abortion. A wise man changes his mind, a fool never does.

>>BOSTON -- Republican Mitt Romney retorted to questions about his faith by surging rival Mike Huckabee on Wednesday, declaring that "attacking someone's religion is really going too far." >In an article to be published Sunday in The New York Times, Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?" >Romney, vying to become the first Mormon elected president, declined to answer.<<

If Mitt Romney has trouble answering easy questions such as this on Moorman beliefs, can he actually handle the position of president of the United States?

ene | 5:15 p.m. Dec. 14, 2007
for you what???? that's useless for you to know if Jesus and the Lucifer are brothers, but waht is best for you is to think about yourself if you're keeping Jesus commandments and follow his footsteps.

Blogan; never mind the mormons belief, why are you people think that mormons are not christians? Can't you see how many times they(mormons) reached out and helped on the poor and the needy when they needed help including those cities and countries who were affected by hurricanes? I think that is the true christian life. But where are those who claimed theirselves Christians? If they said they have prayer meetings for those ones, then that's hybocrites. Faith without works is DEAD.

Here's why many Americans, including myself, are very suspicious of the LDS: the LDS church resembles a sales business in its aggressive missionizing; the LDS church is retrograde in its attitudes towards women, minorities and gays; the LDS church is secretive and its historical claims are demonstrably absurd.
Hard to believe | 12:54 p.m. Dec. 17, 2007
Face up to it my Mormon brothers and sisters - the world is finding out more and more about your group and shaking its head in disbelief.
I agree with "Hard to Believe" | 1:49 p.m. Dec. 17, 2007
Put yourself in the place of others that are just hearing these stories about your church....time to re-evaluate some of the beliefs.
he cannot win | 3:49 p.m. Dec. 17, 2007
The question they asked him in the debate is an idea of how bigoted people are. The question he was asked is whether he would hire a muslim in his cabinet. He answered no. Then they said he was a hypocrite because of the flack he has been getting for being Mormon. If he would have answered yes then he would sound like a traitor to the country and be stigmatized as a Muslim apologist. He cannot win because there are to many bigots in this country that do not want a Mormon president. It is too bad because I feel he is the best candidate for the presidency. I feel both the republican and the democrats feel this. if you can't beat him fairly then fight a dirty fight.

Why are non-mormons often referred to as "you people"? Are non-mormons somewhat suppose to be less than someone that is LDS?
