Well done. I especially like your reference to "Of course we are Christians, you idiot!" I am going to use that quote next time I get a chance.
Thank you for such an important message. I served in California also quite a few years back and learned quickly then the folly of arguing about faith in the Prince of Peace. The Lord once reminded His disciples that not everyone working to further His work was among those they considered to be His followers. I still believe that Latter-day Saints have a critical message for the world, but we should also be anxious to learn from others.
Thank you for sharring that. It is a message that is needed, and one you have delievered well. Thank you again.
I should have read this 15 minutes ago. Well I really didn't bash too hard.
I had a similar experience in high school. I (LDS) argued a friend out of his flavor of Christianity. He told us one day that he'd made up his own religion. When I came back from BYU for our high school's homecoming, I learned that his homemade religion hadn't worked out very well: one night he wrote a note, took a handful of pills, and died.

It's dangerous to take away someone's foundation without replacing it with something secure upon which they can stand.

"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." -- Helaman 5:12
