as a former high school football player i thank my stars everytime a story like this comes out. just to think that something like that could happen to me sickens me. what kind of society are we living in where this sort of thing happens. This is what happens when you give more funding to athletics than to the arts.

What are you talking about? This is not what happens when athletics gets more funding than the arts! This is what happens when stupid kids do stupid things. Maybe they have bad parents who haven't taught them to respect others. Maybe they have low self-esteem and feel they need to prove their superiority through such an act. Maybe they have distorted perspectives of sexuality. Please, sir, do not blame this horrible incident on funding decisions. Don't blame this on anyone else but the perpetrators.

These boys need to be dealt with properly. They have some very bad morales and other issues. They as well have violated another student in the worse way possible.

I agree that sports are way overfunded, and seem to attract certain types of people that the fine arts do not. Lets rethink our theories and shift some money around. I think the judge went soft on these animals. Really, is a letter going to do anything to ease the hurt and embarsement they caused.
The judge needs to be recalled and get a real judge that is serious about VICTOM rights over these criminals.

30 years ago I wish I would have found the courage to stand up and face my abusers. These are sick out of control kids that need to be held accountable now before it progresses to things that are much worse. My abusers are still wild and out of control or dead. They have yet to understand that you reap what you sow. I hope these boys learn now before it is to late. Respect for others is a most valuable lesson to be learned early in your life.

Bullys have severe issues I hope that these perpetrators get the mental help that they need. I hope the victim gets mental help as well. It is a bad situation. Kids who do bad things should have a background check, typically bad parenting. Kids are very troubled. Divorce, abuse etc. Not saying that is an excuse for bad behavior, but alot of kids can't handle the stressors of home life and acting out is the way they show their anger. I say mental evaluations

high school is so plastic yet it is the coaches themselves who send the message such as saying one thing then changing horses in the middle of the stream,how do i know..it ussually comes out by the studends themself who belief it or not aren't as naive as conceived..so the double standards continue with the ones in position of trust actual believing that what they have created isn't sending a message. even state winning programs have such a problem and yet they expect the tax paying parent to buy into their philosphy. when in all actuality the coach is just that because i don't see them signing no medical forms for an operation. time to be real.

Someone at East High needs to do something-poor sportsmanship and bad attitudes are now carrying over into basketball season- Big fight with Woods Cross sent a young man to the hospital- Kids charged the court.. WOW!! What is going on at that school?????

I'm glad this is coming to a close. I feel like these two were dealt with properly while the 3rd's will be more severe (and should be). I know all the kids involved and have known them for years. It's sad to see some of the decisions they have made, but there honestly is not hope lost that some of them can turn their lives around.

This was not a "win at all costs" situation. When the coaches found out about it, it was IMMEDIATELY reported to the administration. The coaches at East have integrity and hearts and would never allow this to take place.

As far as funding goes, you are all wrong again. Most FB programs are self-funded through ticket sales, fundraising, and booster clubs. The only funding that goes into sports is usually just to pay the coaches salaries. Big whoop.

Yeah, east is really having problems. These kids sent Patrick Day to the hospital for crying out loud! East needs a major reform of discipline on their sports teams
