I hope espn has its bleeper button warmed up. Also, this puts the team
who's coach is wearing the mic at a disadvantage. Everyone, just think of
doing what you do and then think of trying to do it knowing millions of people
are watching and/or listening. No way anyone can be as effective in a situation
like that. I say put a mic on Stern in the boardroom and/or bathroom.

Hopefully there is a 5 second delay so we dont have to hear the F word every

Shoot, I can't WAIT to watch the game tonight. This should be a LOT of
fun! If I were Coach Sloan, I would say things like "Gee willickers
fellas...can't we please run the play the way I designed it?" Or
"Gosh Dang It Steve Javie....that was sure a call that I just wonder if
maybe I saw things wrong?" Or my personal favorite "Good googly
moogly....what he did was a bad thing and when we get back into the locker room
he is going to have to apologize for all of his transgressions"....Like I
said...I can't wait!

What a joke. I would have thought it was the government spying in on our every
move, but for the NBA to do it is ridiculous. I guess we can finally confirm
that the NBA has its own initiative rather than letting teams play.

Oh please let us hear what really goes on in that huddle and on Jerry's
sideline! They should sell the unedited version online after the game, it would
be great to hear everything that he says during the game, especially when he
leans over to Phil and says something about the officials or someone who just
got beat to the basket on D. Looking forward to it.

My word. I'm getting sick of television stations mandating that coaches and
players come have a chat during games. I know that they are
"entertainers" in a certain sense, but they're also professionals
who are trying to do their job. I don't know about others, but I want Sloan
to focus on coaching. I don't like the thought of TNT or ESPN pulling him
away from the bench to get his thoughts on the first six minutes of play.

fans can hear all the garbage that goes on behind HIS doors? How about HE WOULD
NEVER DO IT, NOT IN A MILLION YEARS...HOW ABOUT ALL THE COACHES IN THE LEAGUE
GET TOGETHER AND TELL HIM TO GO SMOKE A PIPE OUTSIDE THE BACK DOOR! WHAT IS THE

My 9-year old son and I love to watch the Jazz games together. Everytime they do
a close-up shot of Jerry after a foul I cover my son's eyes... just
kidding, not really.

the tounge. Wait there will be crappy calls the refs always catter to the

THIS IS A VERY BAD IDEA. HOW IS COACH SLOAN SUPPOSED TO CONCENTRATE ON THE GAME

This won't be over until there's a popular reality tv show and the
winner, as elected by you the viewer, gets to be on Jerry, (or Pop, or
Phil's) staff. That's right Stern, play to the 14 year old mentality
once more.

first, i can't imagine sloan agreeing to this unless it was forced on
him...with that said, sloan is smart enought to tone it down a bit and not
totally "let er' rip" like he does sans mic....

I was miked up for a game they did of ours a couple of years back, to be put on
Comcast On Demand. I thought that I would be able to watch what I said.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I wish that I was a stronger man.
They were unable to put the game on Comcast, and we have yet to have another
televised.
If I had to do it all over again, I would have been myself, rather than focusing on my language. My mind was more on saying Dang instead of ... that I took it off of the game plan.

Last night they did this with George Karl and Avery Johnson. If you were
watching you would have noticed that they picked and chose at different times
during the night to show what they have been saying. It was clean and it will
be clean with Sloan. Anyone who thinks they are really going to keep the mic on
and override the announcers are crazy. Everyone get a grip!

he's just as stupid as our "commander and chief...
Wether the league is shooting for increase in entertainment value or way of forcing the coaches to keep things cool, it's a stupid idea and will fail either way. I agree with other comments. Put a mic on Stern. I'd love to hear his reaction to gamling refs and players firing guns into the air.

You've got to wonder if the refs have something special up their short sleeves for Coach tonight, to make the audio the slightest bit interesting. (And if that conspiracy theory doesn't excite you, how about this one: David Stern is handpicking the refs and personally dropping them off at the arena in his black helicopter.)
The NBA's new slogan should be "Where _____ Happens," where the blank can be filled in by anything but "basketball." It's the most exciting pro sport, but once again they think they have to mess with it for some unknown reason.
Finally, to Stupid: the domestic surveillance program is only for terrorists and their supporters, and the coach surveillance program is only for NBA coaches. So are you equating NBA coaches with terrorists? I suppose Stupid is as Stupid does.

It's all part of the reality-TV generation. One of the reasons for the
reality-TV influx is the lack of writing talent. The fact that Stern is invoking
this speaks volumes about how he views the entertainment value of the NBA these
days. And I thought it was bad when he changed the actual playing rules,
'to speed things up'... another entertainment scam.

Dumbest idea to ever happen to the NBA. Now all their strategies and dirty
laundry are going to be aired. Someone needs to slap Stalin... oh wait Stern
upside the head with reality. Making it mandatory for coaches to wear them
during ESPN and TNT games is a joke! The press is going to have a
"hay-day" when they here Poppovich say "Attack the Russian"
or "Attack Boozer because he is soft." This is going to backfire on
the NBA and Stern and I hope it happens sooner rather than later. Youtube is
just licking their chops for clips.

What are they trying to accomplish here? This is a dumb idea. It's like
bringing Pro Wrestling into the NBA. Let the teams battle it out on the court
instead of having to watch their mouths. I sure do hope they have this on tape
delay. I would not be suprised if jerry took off the mike and threw it in the
bleachers! Go Jazz!

I can't believe this. Television is supposed to broadcast games, not
change the way coaches do their work. I don't want Jerry holding back or
not getting on a player as he should because its going to get broadcast. This
is one where they should have listened to the coaches.
