It is about time Utah enforces the law. While we must be tolerant of religious beliefs that do not coincide with our own, we cannot allow the practice of forcing young women into marriage.

Different time same stuff

This could have been 1838 Missouri and Joseph Smith instead of Warren Jeffs. Polygamy is a relic of the very distant past and has no place in modern society or religion. It is purely a manipulation of people's faith and preys upon naive young girls. If the roles were reversed and men had to share their one wife with four or five other men, it would die a swift death. Do unto others...

These FLDS people are confused and have been led astray. Let's hope that some of them come to their senses and realize that Jeffs has essentially brainwashed them into a "la la land " with his false teachings and criminal activity.

A true prophet does not "resign". A true prophet is called of God. If President Hinckley was removed the membership of the LDS church would still stand strong.

I'm so tired of reading about these deviate guys and their corruptions. They all need to be put into prison just as they have kept woman for so very long. Perhaps they can get a taste of their own medicine. Abuse is abuse in any form it comes. Maybe these woman in these polyliggie cults can start thinking for themselves. Although It will take a bit of deprogramming.

All I can say is, Jeffs is where he belongs. I hope the people remaining of HIS faith will be able to move on and build a new and better life for themselves !!

Think

Why does the media and our government think attacking the current leader of their church will change the mind and heart of all the members of the FLDS faith?

Do they really think because he was disgraced and stepped down they will all just pack-up and leave the faith, leave their communities, leave their families? If you talked to any of them they would tell you they have testimonies of the truth of the gospel. Do we really think convicting Jeffs and sending him to jail for life should change that?

Why does it matter to us, or to the government, if Jeffs is a "True Prophet" or not. That's not for us or the media or the government to decide.

Think about it... Would you abandon your faith just because some State burocrats found something they could prosecute Pres. Hincley for and took him off to jail? Even if he resigned? Do you think their faith is really just based on that man and nothing more?

I don't know how shallow you think their faith is, but I wouldn't assume they will all be packing up and going home now that the courts have spoken and Jeff's resignation.
