A false prophet has been found out. How many tears
did he cause with his total disregard of free agency? How much immorality, fear, and division of families did he cause? He'll have a lot of time to consider these questions.
Interesting that you chose to call the announcement of his resignation a "revelation." I expected to see something akin to a prophetic scriptural revelation released on his behalf by his lawyers. I had to read the article a couple of times before I realized that you were simply referring to an announcement. Interesting choice of words.
"....the revelation...." I'm sure it was a "revelation". hehehe same as all the rest.
So did he resign as "prophet." The statement only says that he resigns as the president of the corporation of the church.
The man had been misleading "his" people wrongly, and it was no "Revelation", just common sense. Revelations don't come to the unworthy except as "Condemnation". I feel so bad for those people who were not led by a "shepherd" but rather a Sheep herder, the difference is a Shepherd has the flock follow him, a Sheep Herder Drives the Sheep in the direction he wants them to go from behind with help from "Dogs". Forcing a 14 year old girl to marry a 19 year old cousin is Bad News and "Incest". It is so sad, I hope he finds true repentence in his doings.
Can a prophet tell his creator, "I quit?
And this goes to confirm what those of common sense always knew. He wasn't a prophet!
I think the prophet Jonah tried to quit, but it didn't work out that way.
But, this smells even "fishier" than that happening in history.
Of course. It is just ill-advised to put yourself in a position where you have to do that.
Soooo Who will take his place?
More Utah very strange odd-balls. A very sick group of people! Man, morally you guys take the cake!
Don't forget that Joseph Smith attempted to resign as President of the Church and have Hyrum take his place. However, the church at large voted against the action, so he retained his postion.
The statement said that he resigned as President of the FLDS corporation. Nothing about role as prophet. Those who know their church history know that president of the church is not (was not) synonymous with prophet.
Telestial Kingdom or outer darkness. Good thing there is plenty of time for repentance.
How do you resign from a job with a title like 'prophet'? Is prophecy something you can switch off?
A critical thinker might ask if any prophet is 'real'.
Maybe they need a sticker and validation system, like microsoft.
To--Who cares? Who cares? WE all should care! This is what's wrong with our world nowadays.. too many people just don't care! Especially if it has nothing to do with them personally. Well, I say, someone and everyone needs to care.
And you really think that Utah has the market cornered on odd balls? Wake up dude, look around you with open eyes instead of pointed fingers.
The question has been posted, How do you resign from being a prophet? First, most prophets are called by God and God does the firing. I am under the assumption that false prophets call themeselves to the position of prophet and God has nothing to do with it. True prophets do God's will and testify of God. To test who is false and a true prophet may not be as easy to some. There will always be those who follow false prophets because they believe they have been called of God. I think the test lies in looking at their actions. People who follow false prophets tend to believe the scripture, "those who don't follow the words of the prophet will fall". How do people really test the theory of who is a true, bonified called of God prophet and a man who calls himself a prophet to gain followers or fame? God has warned his people from the beginning that there shall be false prophets rising and the last days there shall be more of them. We all should be wary of someone who claims to know the day or when the end of the world will happen?
that Jeffs resigned. I was afraid that he would try to portray himself as a martyr to those who had believed in him. Maybe now some of those people will begin to get their own lives back, and can be happy. Those who have been to Colorado City before and after can atest to the fact that much of the oppressive feeling is gone. I only hope a new leader with the same ideas does not come forward.
You know this oddly is very familiar. Does the name David Koresh and the Branch Davidians sound familiar?
This is the best example of what I believe about religion. It is a BUSINESS not a belief system. Jeffs resigned as a CEO of a financial concern. If he had been God appointed only God could have sacked him.
ALL religions that depend on a book that someone else wrote to tell you how to live is wrong. Stop contributing to these businesses and get the message direct from GOD. CUT OUT THE CORRUPT MIDDLEMEN. Save your money for useful things and stop bleeting and following like sheep.
