I am not surprised that this terrible tragedy involved the use of an SSRI antidepressant. SSRI Stories has close to 200 murder-suicides where antidepressants were involved.
It is a National Tragedy.
...that is a very sad end to such an innocent bunch... (excluding the mother)
SSRI's have saved my life. Kept me from commiting suicide many a times. I'm all for antidepressants if they are used properly and under the care of an attentive physician, psychiatrist and family. I have two small children, take Cymbalta and would never think of hurting them or myself. But before I took Cymbalta I had suicidal thoughts. Not involving my children but involving me which would in the end make my children motherless. So SSRI's are not ALL bad. Don't generalize people!!
Perhaps she thought she was "saving" her children from a life without her to protect them. Walk a mile in her shoes before you decide her level of guilt. In some people (not all) anti-depressants cause suicide/murder as a side effect.
