My Heisman vote: Tebow

Did it (the BCS) really work though? They had to jump LSU up 5 SPOTS for a win
in the SEC championship game to get an acceptable National Title game, if it was
left up to the "system" it should have been OSU and UGA...right, in
which case UGA would have been undeserving (you should have to win your
conference to play for a national title)

1. There are two different ways of looking at who should get the Heisman, but
Tebow should not win, no matter how you break it down. If you want to go with
the best overall player in college the winner is Kevin Smith. All he has to do
is rush for his average amount of yards and he will beat Barry Sanders'
record. I don't care if he ran against weak opponents in a small conference
because he has weak lineman from a small conference. If you want to pick the
canidate who means the most to his team then you have to pick Pat White. West
Virginia's only two losses came when White was injured in the first half.
Florida lost 3 with Tebow finishing the games.

2. Thank you for pointing out June Jones' comments and also Tony
Dungy's at the end of last year's Super Bowl.Comments like the ones
made by those two coaches and by Austin Collie are ridiculous. God helps all
PEOPLE out, not specific sports teams. It's nice to see other people, who
make comments like Collie's, being called out in the media. Now Collie
can't complain that he is being picked on because he is a "white kid
from BYU" like he said in his statement a couple of days after the big
game. Most sports fans around the country feel uncomfortable when anyone makes
ridiculous religious statements

3. The BCS folks will say their system works all the want, but fans around the
country will not agree. When one BCS team is snubbed from the title game,
it's no big deal. When a BCS team and a mid-major team are snubbed (Auburn
and Utah in 2004) it's kind of a story. With 5 BCS teams being snubbed,
people all around the country are furious with the system and the officials are
already starting to talk about change. BCS coordinator Mike Silve is already
hinting at a plus-one-game playoff system for the top 4 teams in the country.
Even that's not perfect, but one team being snubbed instead of five makes a
lot more sense.

If Tim Tebow had not been hurt, I truly believe the Gators would have won two of
the games they lost. I'm sure the coaches told Tim to stay in the pocket
to protect his shoulder. Obviously, if Tim had been able to scramble AND run,
the outcomes would have been different. The SEC Conference, top to bottom, IS
the toughest football conference year in and year out. On any given Saturday,
you can be beaten. What Tim Tebow has accomplished this year is phenomenal. Add
to that the fact he is an outstanding individual and student.
